Rhapsody Of Fire premiere new single Land Of Immortals (re-recorded version)! One of the fan favorites from the Legendary Tales album, originally released in 1997, Land Of Immortals of course was an obvious choice to be re-recorded for RHAPSODY OF FIRE's Legendary Years (out May 26).

ROSAE CRUCIS started working on the new songs for their next album that will be out on Cruz Del Sur Music.

Named after an ancient, esoteric order, this band from Rome is well known to Italian metalheads. ROSAE CRUCIS in fact have been active since 1989 and always followed their own artistic path, playing epic Heavy Metal during the 90s, a decade plagued by fashions, composing a very personal style of music and, last but not least, singing in Italian language.

Courage and coherence usually pay off: throughout the years ROSAE CRUCIS have been constantly improving their song writing. They gained a wide fan base, also thanks to their outstanding live performances. And kept the flame of Heavy Metal burning in Italy, a country usually pretty cold towards this style of music.

InsideOut Music / Next To None announce second studio album 'Phases'
Posted by: Denis / 15.05.2017
Rising young metallers Next To None have announced the release of their forthcoming second album Phases through InsideOutMusic in Europe on the 7th July 2017. This comes off the back of the band's first ever European tour alongside label-mates Haken, as well as forthcoming dates supporting Mike Portnoy's much anticipated Shattered Fortress show.

The band comments: "We're so excited to finally be releasing our new album. We feel it's a huge step forward for the band and shows a much heavier and much more technical side.
This album is very special to us because it's the first time we recorded and self-produced our entire album. We were able to create music that it completely our own. Every note, every sound, every word, came from us and we can't wait for you all to hear it.
Working with Adam Nolly Getgood on the mix has been one of the highlights of this recording for us. He captured the exact sound we wanted right from the start.
Doing this upcoming tour with The Shattered Fortress will be a great opportunity to premiere this new material to an audience that will surely get where we're coming from."

Nuclear Blast / ACCEPT unveil the cover artwork of 'The Rise Of Chaos'
Posted by: Denis / 15.05.2017
Heavy Metal pioneers ACCEPT are back in the game with a new studio album! The record entitled The Rise Of Chaos, will be unleashed on August 4th, 2017. The band's 4th studio release through Nuclear Blast will continue the tradition of its three predecessors - Blood Of The Nations, Stalingrad, Blind Rage - with grandeur and precision.

Now the band has unveiled the cover artwork of the new record, which was created by the Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák.

"THE RISE OF CHAOS is something I have been thinking about often. Wherever we go - there is some hidden as well as some visible destruction and it kind of changes the world we know. What was there today - can be gone tomorrow and it’s somehow irritating, because it happens on so many levels and no one knows what comes next. The cover is our last stage set - but now clearly 'destroyed' - like... after a catastrophe", explains Wolf Hoffmann.

With their 2015 debut album Overdrive they triggered a positive as well as far-reaching surprise-effect as a vertical starter, which attracted a multitude of worldwide fans. Countless reviews attested the band around guitarist and singer Simon Bihlmayer with their 'dancing from the row' material, a very own, upscale class. Encouraged by this, the songwriting became even more hungry, but also more settled and determined. And now RUNNING DEATH are back with a new work: DressAge titled, the second longplayer presents the crisp rocking THRASH METAL of the Bavarians in so far unheard freshness and dynamics!

Official release date for DressAge is May 26th, 2017.

Whoever, as a new listener wants to get a route for orientation in advance - many sorts of references to Megadeth lead in the correct direction. For friends of such stylistics, it should be difficult in any case to resist ultra-melodic and discreetly progressive rhythm-grenades like Heroes Of The Hour. Similar to the aforementioned US giants, RUNNING DEATH also let all classic, grippy Rock elements flow in homogeneously manner into their partly hit-suspicious staged Thrash alarm. Even on the textual level, there is deliberately thought-through content. Often written with a pinched eye, the quartet's punctual lyrics are definitely the most readable in the genre. With tracks like Duty Of Beauty for example, RUNNING DEATH humorously relate to the ever-dehumanizing fashion madness of today.

The natural, striking singing of frontman Simon, who already caused lively discussions with the successful debut-disk, breaks out of the ten new songs even more individual and uncompromising. Even in the balladesque passages, the guitarist, as a convinced 100 % guy, simply inverts his innermost outwards with full emotion, instead of following the standards of the metier.

The detailed front cover for DressAge was created by the Mexican graphic artist Joel Sánchez Rosales, which was the perfect match for the lyrical relationship to the delicious dressage theme of the title song.

There will be trade stalls, entertainers, music, beer, wine, food and relentless survival games all afternoon with live bands for evening entertainment."

Then, on Saturday November 11th Maxdmyz will be heading to Kettering, for the Day Of Rock 2017, where they will share the stage with notorious ex-W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes, who headlines the show with his Mean Man band. Pride & Joy Music / Angelwings - The Edge Of Innocence
Posted by: Denis / 12.05.2017
ANGELWINGS were born in April 2013 out of a group of experienced musicians that had been in the Gibraltar local music scene for some time and who had played in different bands a wide variety of musical genres. Initially, to get together as a band it was decided to perform a number of covers from Finnish symphonic Metal sensation Nightwish. Soon it became clear to all that original music would have a very considerable element of orchestration. Thus, ANGELWINGS became the first symphonic Metal band from Gibraltar.

It is in October 2014 when the band starts to write their original material. The first (demo) track titled Wonderland was posted on YouTube in January 2015 and attracted attention from local media and internationally on social media. Two more demos have followed since, Memories and Forbidden Love. These have enjoyed wide acceptance and support, and have increased the band's exposure. These tracks have had air time on radio stations in Argentina, Spain and the UK. The Fallen and Lilith also premiered in Argentina.

In June 2015 ANGELWINGS supported Heavy metal legends Saxon at the 'Hard n Heavy' festival in Gibraltar. In September 2015 they performed at the Gibraltar Music Festival where Kings of Leon and Duran Duran were headliners.

These ANGELWINGS tracks have been on air by genre specialized radio stations throughout Europe, North and South America and elsewhere. After numerous offers from record labels from around the world, the group signed with Pride & Joy Music from Germany. The debut album titled The Edge of Innocence was recorded at Angelwings Studios in Gibraltar and produced by ANGELWINGS. Album cover concept idea Darren Fa; graphic designer Thomas Ewerhard; band logo design Paul P Cano.

SPV / NITROGODS to release first single from upcoming album and video
Posted by: Denis / 12.05.2017
The first single Rancid Rock taken from the upcoming NITROGODS album Roadkill BBQ is available. Rancid Rock is the opening track of the album and makes clear what to expect from this true Rock n Roll 3-piece. Nitrogods have recorded 14 haunting tracks, starting with the programmatic opener Rancid Rock, playing a boogie on the title track, which is dedicated to Rick Parfitt (Wolter: "The song sounds like Lemmy singing a Status Quo number") and giving the slide guitar extravaganza My Love's A Wirebrush a bluesrock feel that brings to mind Rose Tattoo. Nitrogods dig deep into music history on Where Have The Years Gone, their unashamed homage to The Who. "Oimel and Klaus saw the band during their final tour and where absolutely awed", Wolter explains, "that's why we simply had to record this number". The same applies to The Price Of Liberty which the three musicians intentionally wrote in the tradition of great Ted Nugent classics, even shifting down to halftime tempo.
ROADKILL BBQ will be released on May 26th, 2017. The album will be available in 3 different physical formats:
  1. Digipack CD
  2. Ltd. Edition Vinyl version (transparent red 180gr. vinyl with black streaks + CD)
  3. Ltd. Edition Box Set (High-quality 3-D embossed metal box, incl. Digipack CD, plus Bonus CD Tribute to Lemmy, plus Stainless Steel Flask 177 ml with lasered Nitrogods Skull and Band logo, Sticker)

Frontiers Music / Mr. Big - Defying Gravity
Posted by: Denis / 11.05.2017
DEFYING GRAVITY deftly showcases that patented MR. BIG blend of crunch and melody, from the freight-train ride of opening cut Open Your Eyes to the harmony-laden wonderment of Damn I'm in Love Again to the grateful/wistful nostalgia of 1992 (recalling the days when the band was flying high atop the singles charts with their international #1 smash To Be With You) to the barnburning slide-blues closer, Be Kind. Overall, DEFYING GRAVITY is prime evidence that the only thing MR. BIG remains tethered to is their ongoing pursuit of achieving creative excellence.

Original members Eric Martin (lead vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitars), Billy Sheehan (bass) and Pat Torpey (drums) reunited with producer Kevin Elson (who was behind the boards for the band's 1989 self-titled debut, 1991's LEAN INTO IT and 1993's BUMP AHEAD) for an intensive six-day recording session in Los Angeles. While Torpey was unable to perform some of the songs on DEFYING GRAVITY due to a recent diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, Matt Starr has been filling in for him on a majority of the album. Starr also been touring with the band for the past couple of years, with Torpey able to play a couple of songs at each stop.

"It was great to get back in the studio with our original producer, Kevin Elson", says guitarist Paul Gilbert. "Kevin recorded all of our original classic albums from the '80s and '90s, and we immediately felt that magic chemistry with him on DEFYING GRAVITY. We basically played live in the studio. Over the years, we've all had a chance to experiment with every recording technique possible, but it's still always the best just to play together as a band. Most of my guitar solos were tracked live with the band. I've worked hard on my improvisation in the last few years, and it really paid off on this record... both melodically, and on the face-melting stuff."

MR. BIG is gearing up for the launch their latest worldwide tour which starts May 31 in Milwaukee, WI at the Potowatami Casino.

"2017 is filling up quickly with tour dates all around the world", proclaims Gilbert. "I can't wait to play the new songs, and of course our favorites from the old days like Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy; Just Take My Heart; Green Tinted Sixties Mind; Wild World and To Be With You."
Here's the complete track listing for DEFYING GRAVITY:

Nuclear Blast / TANKARD '35 years of TANKARD' trailer online
Posted by: Denis / 11.05.2017
In 1982, when four longhaired Metal maniacs from Frankfurt am Main, Germany decided to found a band named TANKARD, nobody expected them to still be going three decades later. Not to mention being at the top of the German Thrash Metal scene! But they are still alive and kicking, and throughout these years there's barely been a blip in their path! Now, when the routine of breaking-up, making a 'reunion' and disappearing again seems to be the order of play, TANKARD never joined this course of action - instead they kept flying the flag of Thrash Metal high: a very respectable effort! NOT ONE DAY DEAD!

This is why the founders of 'alcoholic Metal' can now celebrate their 35th anniversary in 2017 with their 17th studio album entitled One Foot In The Grave - cheers!

Check out the new video trailer, in which Gerre and Frank talk about 35 years of TANKARD.

A year ago, the archdemons of British Black Metal, Thus Defiled, chose Imperative to promote their An Unhallowed Legacy release – and now they're back. It's twenty five years, a quarter of a century, since Thus Defiled first came screaming into the world, drunk on sacrificial blood and aflame with blasphemy and that's an anniversary that's well worth celebrating. Hence, Imperative PR have been entrusted with the promotion of a new EP – A Return To The Shadows. Featuring one previously unheard original track and four vicious cover versions of songs that the band hold dear, this is a release of breathtaking savagery and demonic fury.

Two special guests have contributed their talents to the recordings; first, Donn Donni (Vesperian Sorrow) adds his wicked backing vocals to the heaviest version of Metallica's Creeping Death you will ever hear. Then, Mike Browning (Nocturnus, ex-Morbid Angel) takes over vocal duties for a brutal recreation of Morbid Angel's classic Demon Seed. In addition Thus Defiled have desecrated Death's Evil Dead and W.A.S.P.'s Hellion.

Speaking about this release, frontman Paul C commented: "25 years in. Where did the time go? This recording has been in the pipeline for a while, but now with the band turning 25 it seemed the right time to finally drag it out into the light. When we flew to Texas to record this EP, once again re-uniting the band with Daemonspawn producer Tim Bartlett at Noise Farm Studio, we had one new track written and had decided to cover a few songs that made a huge impression on us as kids. The only rule: no Black Metal covers!
So, over many beers, many suggestions and many arguments we ended up with this varied selection of Metal classics. An eclectic mix from different corners of the '80s, all given a Thus Defiled interpretation. You can never improve on an original, only pay tribute. And this is ours.
Rather than asking for any payment, or doing a crowdfunding campaign so we can get a new sauna, all we ask is that if you have time and a spare Pound/Euro/Dollar or whatever your local currency is, you make a donation, however big or small, to Sweet Relief, the very worthy charity that Chuck Schuldiner was involved with."

Having left this offering of pure darkness in our hands Thus Defiled have vanished once more into the shadow realms. Will they ever pass this way again? We can only hope and give thanks for A Return To The Shadows... and a quarter of a century of blazing British Black Metal!
Blind Guardian - 'Live Beyond the Spheres' 3CD/4LP to be released on July 7th
Posted by: Denis / 10.05.2017
There's big news for Blind Guardian: the Progressive Power Metal pioneers announce the release of a new 3-CD package entitled, Live Beyond the Spheres! This will include material recorded from various shows during the European tour leg in 2015, among old classics, new tracks as well as songs that are played very rarely during live shows.

Vocalist Hansi Kürsch speaks about the difficulties to create such an ambitious album: "In general I would say that we've had a really good run on this tour and that nearly every show was perfect. But, at the end of the day, after every band member has checked each and every song and concert of those 30 shows again and again, there were only like two or three versions of each song being suitable to be used for an album. We then had to decide between those last remaining versions, which would have been the most impressive one. This was a nearly endless task!"

But as we all know, Blind Guardian stands for perfectionism in any way.

"The songs finally chosen reveal such an energy, that possible smaller mistakes appeared to be totally unimportant for the evaluation. As soon as you have listened to the songs, you will know what I mean, they feel alive", the vocalist continues.

But in the end, the effort was all worth it. Hansi sums up: "There is always something happening at each show, let's call it 'MAGIC', that is giving us all the creeps. We are really satisfied when the people sing with us, have a good time and go back home happy."

Live Beyond the Spheres is scheduled to be released on July 7th as 3-CD and 4-LP Box.

Nuclear Blast / EPICA release 'Dancing In A Hurricane' live video

Dutch symphonic Metal giants EPICA are proud to announce the launch of their brand new live video Dancing In A Hurricane! The track has been taken from the band's latest output The Holographic Principle, which was released via Nuclear Blast in September 2016 and charted worldwide. The video was captured and edited by the video production team 'Panda Productions' during EPICA's SOLD OUT show at The Zenith in Paris last February where the band closed their most successful European tour to date together with an excited legion of 5.000 fans! This live video perfectly mirrors the band's craving for non-stop innovation and for continuously improving their live performance. Dancing In A Hurricane, Live at The Zenith will show you how the live EPICA experience has reached new dimensions once again!

Coen Janssen comments on the video: "When you are in the midst of touring, you tend to forget how special it is and how privileged we are to be able to perform every night. The show in Zenith Paris is an absolute highlight in our career and therefore I am extra happy we decided to shoot some live-videos of this show. This first one, featuring one of my favourite songs on The Holographic Principle takes me back to this night instantly so I can relive the moment again and again. The video shows me in retrospect what an awesome tour this was!!! Thank you all again for joining us that night and for making our days brighter all the time!!! Enjoy!!!" . Napalm Records / SEVEN KINGDOMS release official music video for track 'Kingslayer'
Posted by: Denis / 05.05.2017
This is not only for fans of Game Of Thrones! 'Rebellion is coming, soon the gates will fall' state the lyrics of SEVEN KINGDOMS' latest track & music video Kingslayer.

SEVEN KINGDOMS are blazing a wild passion through every millisecond of their monstrous music. Welcome Decennium, their furious 10th anniversary. Be sure: This fast'n'heavy Thrash and Power Metal is always uptempo, fierce and epic. Songstress Sabrina Valentine sings with full force and her charismatic voice flirts insanely with heavy twin guitars.

See and hear it for yourself with the official music video premiere for Kingslayer!

The band states:
"Kingslayer is a song about Jaime Lannister's betrayal of his oath, which earned him that very nickname across the Seven Kingdoms. The Mad King was ready to blow up all of Kings Landing with stocks of wildfire hidden under the streets, rather than face defeat to Robert's rebellion. Having already seen enough atrocities committed by the king, Jaime could not stand by any longer with the lives of the entire city at stake. He murdered the Mad King, the one his life was sworn to protect. Instead of becoming a hero, this betrayal would be how history remembered Jaime Lannister."

Frontiers Music / Ten - Gothica
Posted by: Denis / 04.05.2017
British Melodic Hard Rock band TEN has announced they will release their new album, Gothica on July 7, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl.

The highly anticipated new album promises to be one of their strongest collection of songs to date. It is full of all the trademark textures and flavors we have come to expect from TEN, arguably one of the best and most consistent Melodic Hard Rock bands in the genre. Gothica renews TEN's longstanding association with the Frontiers label and proudly displays all the hallmarks of classic TEN albums and will surely continue to build upon the rich legacy that the great British rockers have forged over a career spanning 22 years and counting.

Gothica emerges as their darkest album to date. Embracing history, romance and erotic horror in equal measure as it does, the title proves to be a fitting name. As listeners, we are transported from the darker side of human nature to the nocturnal supernatural, a dramatic realm of nightmares and the forbidden. Gothica is cinematic in every sense of the word. A web of musically elaborate spells, evoking embers that spark the imagination courtesy of the classic song writing of vocalist Gary Hughes.

Of the album, Gary says, "I am extremely pleased with the collection of songs on Gothica as they feel like they belong together. The band are firing on all cylinders once again and it is a gift to the army of fans everywhere who have relentlessly supported us over the years. It is ironically fitting that our 13th studio album should be a little more sinister, at the same time retaining all the commercial traits usually associated with a Ten album."

Following their success on the recent albums Albion and Isla De Muerta, Hughes is joined once again by guitarists Dann Rosingana, Steve Grocott, John Halliwell along with bass player Steve McKenna, keyboard maestro Darrel Treece-Birch, and drummer Max Yates. On their third outing as a collective unit, the musicians in TEN have raised the bar even higher than they had previously. The album is full of stunning guitar work over a rich keyboard, bass, and drum tapestry with Hughes' vocals once again bringing the nuances of the intricate lyrics to life.

Gothica was produced by Gary Hughes and mixed and mastered by Dennis Ward. TEN's longstanding professional association with Dennis has been ongoing since he mixed their 2011 album, Stormwarning.

Additionally, the album features stunning original artwork by Stan W. Decker, depicting a beautiful enchantress reading incantations from a book whilst summoning shadowy characters from its pages. Stan has cleverly illustrated the piece in order to portray the characters emerging from the books pages as the actual characters from the songs on the album. The atmospheric sleeve photography is once again provided by the remarkably talented Adrian Ashworth.

Frontiers is proud to be working with the legendary TEN again and looks forward to sharing this stunning new album with the band's fans around the globe!

Cruz del Sur Music / WALPYRGUS album 'Walpyrgus Nights'
Posted by: Denis / 28.04.2017
We've all heard the stories of legendary antics and debauchery backstage at Metal concerts – and while that is exciting to read or gossip about, very often there's another conversation that happens back there, on the tour bus, or at a local backyard BBQ party over some beers – while you're hanging out with fellow musicians you respect, blasting a classic Maiden, Lizzy, Priest album – it's almost inevitable that someone says 'we should jam together sometime' and while this may be well-intentioned or naively inspired, it seldom comes to fruition. WALPYRGUS is an exception.

When these veterans of Twisted Tower Dire, While Heaven Wept, Daylight Dies, Viper (amongst a long list of many others) broached this subject, it actually came to fruition with a very real mutual ambition and respect for both each others' talents and the musical influences that made them who they are.

When you hear those passages recalling the aforementioned Maiden, Lizzy, Priest, Fate, etc. it's truly coming from the hearts of musicians who have been performing this kind of music their entire lives.

The eponymous demo-turned-EP confirmed that these guys were serious but was really only a litmus test merely hinting at what was to come; their debut album Walpyrgus Nights represents the full realization of the potential of this dangerous meeting of Metal minds. Hook after hook, cascading guitar harmonies, anthemic soaring vocals, epic unexpected twists and turns abound, this 8 song opus is truly a genuinely inspired, wild, and I daresay fun ride through the annals of classic Hard Rock and early Metal with a distinct personality.

This effort gradually matured over a span of no less than five years and recorded in a variety of locations over the course of two intense years under the guidance of Tom Phillips (While Heaven Wept mastermind) was mixed by longtime collaborator Kevin '131' Gutierrez (Raven, Deceased, Believer) and features the artwork of Gustavo Sazes (Morbid Angel, Arch Enemy, Firewind).

So when the when the stars are right and you're alone, take a journey, lock the world tight and prepare yourself for the tales of demons, spectres, and witches rising on Walpyrgus Nights!

Walpyrgus Nights will be released on compact disc, vinyl (featuring a 56-page comic book with lyrics!) and digital on June 9, 2017. You already can stream a song Somewhere Under Summerwind from this forthcoming album!

VALOR have always been distinguished by unique epic compositions and superb performances filled with melody and passion and of course pure epic heaviness! These attributes are clearly evident of course throughout the band's newest release, Arrogance: The Fall.

Even though their latest work might be a bit more on the aggressive side in terms of song-writing, the band's masterful blend of Melodic Power Metal with galloping riffs and epic elements is still there! Along with an improved and refined sound, Arrogance: The Fall promises not to disappoint their fans who are eagerly awaiting this release or any other fans of finely-crafted epic Power Metal for that matter!

A track Arrogant Fall taken off the album is available for streaming and free download. Arrogance: The Fall is out on June 9th on CD and Digital.

Imperative PR / Lunatic Hooker and Maxdmyz release stunning new videos
Posted by: Denis / 26.04.2017
Firstly, kings of grind and sludge, Lunatic Hooker, have created a suitably demented and disturbing film to accompany the insane sounds of Transformation Walrus. You won't forget this tale of extreme, creative surgery in a hurry, with the twisted images broken up with live footage of the band in suitably savage form.

Transformation Walrus is taken from the album Embracing The Filth which has been picking up some great reviews since its release, just a week ago, through Black Bow Records.

Imperative PR'd also like to draw your attention to the quite magnificent, bleakly brilliant vision of a dystopian future that Maxdmyz have released; the perfect visual accompaniment to their latest single All To Hell. This stunning clip was created by the very talented Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art, who can count Thrash Metal legends Flotsam And Jetsam amongst his satisfied customers. Speaking about the themes behind the song and video, vocalist Twister explained: "All To Hell is a meditation on social nihilism and the politics of despair – the social and existential struggles of the common man and woman, the voiceless multitude, who, although victims of the people who run their lives, become unwitting upholders of a system that alienates and sets them at odds with their own essential human dignity and with each other."

"I felt very inspired lately so I've started the composition of a new BASS solo EP: 6 tracks, bass and drums, melodic, intimate but also a bit experimental and groovy. Some special guests may also join this new project, let's see what happens :) The album will be released approximately in September 2017." - Alberto Rigoni.

As an independent artist, Alberto is looking for supporters who can help him in reaching the budget for the production (recordings, mix, mastering, artwork etc.) of this new EP and started this fundraising campaign that will end on June 30 2017. PART OF THE INCOME WILL BE DONATED TO LEGA DEL FILO D'ORO, AN ASSOCIATION WHICH HELPS DEAF BLIND CHILDREN.

Intromental / ODDLAND
Posted by: Denis / 26.04.2017
Intromental're extremely happy to announce that they've signed ODDLAND.

In other news, Finnish Progressive Metal outfit ODDLAND has issued a newly-filmed video this week, ahead of the band's European tour with labelmates Wolverine and Until Rain, which kicks off this Wednesday.

ODDLAND's new video was filmed and edited by Ville Viitanen for a brand new acoustic version of Unknown, which initially appeared in a fully heavy/electric version on their second album, Origin, released in September 2016 through Laser's Edge division Sensory Records.

Issues the band on the acoustic version of the song, "We've been fiddling around with acoustics every now and then and really fell in love with the idea of making an acoustic version of a song on Origin. Unknown seemed the most fitting candidate, and luckily, we were able to book the beautiful medieval castle of our hometown Turku to record this performance. It was really the perfect choice with the haunting ambience and enchantingly echoing stone walls."

The follow-up to ODDLAND's Century Media-released 2012 debut The Treachery Of Senses, Origin was recorded in part by the band and completed at Fantom Studio (Insomnium, Korpiklaani, Oranssi Pazuzu), then mixed and mastered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir).

Pride & Joy Music start for STARSICK SYSTEM; lyric video for 'Bulletproof' available
Posted by: Denis / 25.04.2017
STARSICK SYSTEM is a new sensation in modern Hard Rock featuring vocalist and guitarist Marco Sandron (Pathosray, Eden's Curse, Fairyland, etc), bassist Valeria Battain and lead guitarist David Donati (both known in Syrayde) plus producer, songwriter and drummer Ivan Moni Bidin (Pathosray, Ashent, Garden Wall, Syrayde, etc) in the line-up.

Now the lyric video for the first instant grat/ single Bulletproof will be released.

Bassist Valeria Battain comments on the track: "Bulletproof is song of 'rebellion' but with an ironic tone. It will take on a personal meaning to everyone who hears it, but the message is the same: stand up for what you believe in, no matter what other people say, face your enemies, be proud of you and take back yourself respect against bullies, self-centered and arrogant ones. We chose this song as first single cause the mood and the melodies are the perfect evolution of our original sound. It's a perfect match of heavy riffing and catchy refrains that is what distinguishes us mostly!"

The album Lies, Hope & Other Stories will hit the shelves on June 23rd, 2017 via Pride & Joy Music. Next to 10 original songs, the record also features an outstanding cover of the Chris Cornell song You Know My Name (James Bond 007 – Casino Royale soundtrack).

  2. I Am The Hurricane
  3. Bulletproof

Nuclear Blast / PARADISE LOST reveal title and details of new album
Posted by: Denis / 25.04.2017
At this moment, iconic UK metallers, PARADISE LOST, are putting the final touches to their upcoming album, recorded at Orgone Studios in the misty countryside of Woburn, England. Together with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, they have forged the follow-up to their highly acclaimed release The Plague Within (2015), which brought them a step closer to their Death Metal roots. This time, PARADISE LOST will haunt their fans with a heavy, doom-ridden monster, as lead guitarist and songwriter Greg Mackintosh reveals:
"The new album will be slower, sludgier and more doom filled than ever before. Eight riff laden monster tracks of sheer Northern misery."

This 15th studio album will see the light of day at the end of summer via Nuclear Blast and is entitled Medusa. As some might know, Medusa is considered a hideous Gorgon in Greek mythology - a winged female monster with living venomous snakes in place of hair and everyone who dares taking a look at her will immediately turn to stone! So watch out for new details about the album being revealed soon - if you dare.

High Roller Records / CLOVEN HOOF - Who Mourns for the Morning Star?
Posted by: Denis / 24.04.2017
Midlands outfit Cloven Hoof must rate as one of the most legendary bands of the entire New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. The origins of the group go back to the year 1979, when they first formed under the name of Nightstalker. In 1981, however, the band switched to their new moniker: Cloven Hoof. Original vocalist David Potter, guitarist Steve Rounds, drummer Kevin Poutney and main man Lee Payne on bass adopted the stage characters of 'Earth', 'Fire', 'Water' and 'Air'. A very interesting concept which was far ahead of its time. After recording demos of songs such as Return Of The Passover and Nightstalker Cloven Hoof issued their debut vinyl 12" EP The Opening Ritual on Elemental Music in 1982 (today a precious collector's item). In 1984, the self-titled Cloven Hoof album was released, followed by Fighting Back (1986), Dominator (1988) and A Sultan's Ransom (1989). After splitting up in the 1990s, Cloven Hoof returned with a new line up in the 2000s.

Resist Or Serve from 2014 is now followed by the band's brand new studio album Who Mourns For The Morning Star?. Lee Payne added some new blood to the Cloven Hoof line-up with American citizens George Call (on lead vocals) and Danny White (on drums), both formerly playing with Aska, being the new guys. Lee Payne has the full story: "I first met the guys when we were both on the bill to play Keep Lt True festival in Germany. George and Danny were in a great band called Aska and they were on stage just before us. I had been doing interviews for most the morning so I thought there was just time to catch the group on just before us. Initially I wanted to hear what the sound out front was like but when I heard the vocalist, I was totally blown away! All my life I had a vision in my head what I wanted Cloven Hoof to sound like.
Musically we had come close but I was never 100% happy with the vocalist. In the past sure we had some great singers the best probably being Matt Moreton on reflection, but still I was after a certain Dio/Halford delivery. Imagine the shock I got hearing George in full voice looking great... and he was playing a mean rhythm guitar too! The drummer was excellent and he kept time like a human metronome, another problem area we had throughout the years. These two were the missing pieces to the jigsaw that I had been after all my career, but how could I entice them to play in my band? After I saw Mr Call and Mr White I would never be satisfied with the musicians I had at the time, they sounded very sub standard compared the the Aska musicians certainly. As coincidence would have it whilst getting changed for our set this guy came into our dressing room asking could he speak to Lee Payne? He said he was our biggest fan and he wanted some albums signed. It was none other than the killer singer I had just been watching! We hit it off right away! At the end of the festival we agreed one day we would work together when the time was right. Well, now that day has arrived at long last and we are going to make the most of it!"

Musically, Who Mourns For The Morning Star? carries on where Resist Or Serve has left off. According to Lee Payne, the 2014 album was well received: "We got some fantastic reviews and the fans loved the album, but we became victims of our own success, I guess. Unbeknown to the rest of the band, Joe, the singer, had auditioned for that crummy TV show 'The X-Factor' and Judas Priest management decided that he should have a solo career away from playing Heavy Metal. I couldn't understand that decision as Joe was Metal through and through but they convinced him he would make more money. We played superb gigs with him in the band like Sweden Rock, however, with a big-time management company like that influencing him he decided to concentrate on a mainstream market along with our ex -drummer Jake. Luke, Chris and myself wish them all the luck in the world of course but we put Heavy Metal and Cloven Hoof first ...always! To try and keep the unit together we even played as backing band for him, but it was a losing battle really. Joe was a simply awesome guitar player and he never really wanted to be the singer but he stepped up to the plate brilliantly. He raised the bar vocally on Resist Or Serve and only Matt came near his performance on that record. Deliverance and Brimstone And Fire were superb. Shame Joe ever got involved with that show and other people telling him what to do. Even though we lost two great musicians because of different agendas we all still remain great friends."
"I think the addition of George and Danny has refined our sound and made it more polished and hard hitting"
, remarks Lee Payne asked for the main differences between Resist Or Serve and Who Mourns For The Morning Star?. "American bands do seem to be tighter and more professional than anywhere else in the world. European bands tend to be raw and more aggressive, so we have combined those elements with our Anglo-American unit. We have synthesised the best of both worlds and can now offer a product of truly world class status. Who Mourns For The Morning Star? combines all the best qualities of the trademark Cloven Hoof sound but it is played better and the vocal delivery is off the scale. The full band width of the band is explored and there are epic tracks next to more hard hitting numbers that build and cover a whole spectrum of moods and atmospheres. There is no pro tools cheating involved either so it is a real band playing tight but loose. On Resist Or Serve we were very conscious of playing tight because other bands were using click tracks and triggered drums, but on the new album we said to hell with it and Danny sets the groove and tempo playing drums in the traditional way. We are back to basics playing from the heart and it shows. Every song is different and yet somehow fits together. We seems to show where we have come from musically and pave the way for a future direction. It is a very exciting release and I'm positive the fans will agree it is our best ever album." The opening track Star Rider structurally and stylistically reminds me a bit of Priest's Starbreaker. Was that done intentionally? "Wow that is a great compliment, my friend", says Lee Payne. "As long as we get compared to a brilliant band like Priest then we are doing something right. Star Rider explores the X-files notion of 'are there aliens out there and are they amongst us now?' No one really knows for certain but it sure is fun to imagine they exist. Are people really abducted for experiments? Did they once build the pyramids back in antiquity? The truth is out there!" Cloven Hoof have always been some kind of atypical NWOBHM band. I think this continues on Who Mourns For The Morning Star? because the nine tracks show influences of epic Metal, Speed Metal, Melodic Metal and even Progressive Metal. "I agree we have dug deep explored all facets of our musical identity on Who Mourns For The Morning Star?", explains Lee Payne. "No one can ever say we keep on recycling the same three chord trick. Cloven Hoof is forever expanding its musical aspirations and no two songs will ever be the same, I promise. Hopefully there is something for everybody on our albums because stylistically we are a very broad church within a heavy metal framework."

The sound of the album is probably more European or American than British, could that be true? "A very good point", beams Lee Payne. "When we played Hard Rock Hell, a well respected writer said were were not strictly British sounding because our music was not blues based Hard Rock. We stood apart from many N.W.O.B.H.M bands because our sound is undiluted Heavy Metal fused with Prog Rock type multi time changes. Cloven Hoof originally hail from the West Midlands at the heart of England, a region that many say gave birth to Heavy Metal. Funny how some think the blues based Hard Rock approach sounds more British. Why is that? Sabbath are from the same neck of the woods where I grew up, so that location must infuse our music with a certain inherent sound. You cannot ignore your roots and the Black Country has produced some great musicians. I am proud to have been born there. Power Metal is classed as primarily belonging to the European Metal market. We seem to be pioneers in this genre because we play fast epic Metal. Cloven Hoof have an aggressive raw edge to our sound that is favoured by American Thrash bands so we fit in well with that genre too. So I completely understand your take on the aforementioned question. Cloven Hoof are now comprised of English and American band members, so we will sound even less quintessentially British, I suppose. But in truth Heavy Metal defies boundaries and nationalities anyway."

A song such as Song Of Orpheus would have probably not sounded out of place on a record by Crimson Glory. "That too is a great compliment", smiles Lee Payne, "because Crimson Glory were a brilliant band. I loved their debut album and Transcendence, Midnight, the singer, was reminiscent of Geoff Tate at times. They had a majestic delivery and are not a million miles from our sound. Orpheus is a love song really, that has the hero willing to sacrifice any thing to get his beloved back. Even from the realm of death itself. This is the case in the Greek mythology legend too, love is an all consuming powerful emotion that will drive a human being to take any risk in its name. It has a great chorus that the fans will hopefully sing along when we play it live."

Lyrically, I reckon the album once again deals with space, mysticism, occultism, paganism, but it's not a concept album, or is it? "No it's not a concept album", explains the Cloven Hoof main man. "But you are right about the space, mysticism, occultism, paganism aspect. We have our own unique brand of metal music and it wouldn't be a Hoof record without that particular subject matter, would it? I love all those genres they are so imaginative and evocative. Reality is such a boring mundane topic. I always thought fantasy provided the best scope for songs. I feel strangely disappointed with true life somehow. 'The world is not enough' as the saying goes and in an infinite cosmos, it is great to imagine somewhere out there in a galaxy far far away, seemingly impossible things could happen and exist!"

I Talk To The Dead sounds very haunting. "It is one of my favourite tracks on the album", confesses Lee Payne, "about necromancy and reanimating corpses. What if the dead still had consciousness floating in the great beyond and necromancers could talk to the deceased. How incredible would it be, if they could bring a cadaver back to do their bidding? This notion made the hairs stand out on the back of my neck, so I had to put it down in a song. George does a brilliant Gandalf-type of voiceover near the end that is inspired. He takes an idea to the next level and makes everything sound believable. Mr Call acts out lyrics perfectly, he doesn't just sing a song... he lives it!" Neon Angels does feature different layers of background vocals... I get the impression that the vocal performance on Who Mourns For The Morning Star? is central for the album. "Yes, George has a world class voice and range", states Lee Payne. "And I want to utilise it fully with the scope of our music. It was integral that George joined the band to do the new songs justice. In fact everyone plays great on this record, Luke's solo's are amazing. Chris Coss is now officially the 2nd longest serving member of Cloven Hoof and I am very honoured and privileged to work with such talented musicians, they are great human beings too. So life is real good right now. Neon Angels was written to be a bikers song, something you can play when heading down the highway and sing along with us at live shows. It makes me feel good every time I listen to it, and I play it in my car a hell of a lot."

Morning Star itself is a rather soft song, maybe even a (semi) ballad? Cloven Hoof is one of the very few (NWOBHM) bands that attempt to write 'ballads', and succeed in making them not sound wimpy... There are two other bands possessing this rare gift: again, Judas Priest and The Scorpions (up until Blackout). "Priest and The Scorpions are masters of their craft", agrees Lee Payne. "To give light and shade to a song you must get the right balance so that a song builds. Soft passages can help create a certain atmosphere and makes the heavy part seem more dramatic and heavier when it eventually comes in. I love to do that and on tracks like Mistress of the Forest for instance, it proves the right dynamics can enhance a song greatly. Morning Star is a story with a beginning middle and an end so I have tried to reflect that with musical passages and movements. The story of Lucifer's fall from grace after being God's most exalted angel is a powerful one. Having an eye for the celestial top job as it were, is a human frailty. Many can identify and have empathy with that, but the all father deemed it punishable with everlasting banishment from heaven. A little harsh, don't you think? No forgiveness for daring to be adored as the most beautiful angel? Is vanity the greatest crime in creation? Surely a supreme being could show compassion at some point... not so for Lucifer Morning Star, doomed to rule the worst place in the cosmos. I see the devil in all this as a jailer who has to meet out punishment, nothing more. There is something heroic in this hapless fate somehow. Throughout the track I am trying to tell the story from the devil's perspective of how he wants absolution and return to heaven to take his rightful place. When he doesn't get it from a vengeful God he gives in and curses him. Hope everyone enjoys it!"

Time To Burn is much more up tempo and again sounds like classic Priest (circa Screaming For Vengeance) "A killer album that Rob Halford gave me when he invited me to a local radio station where he was doing an interview", adds Lee Payne. "It hadn't been released at the time and I loved it from the second I put it on the turn table. I thought Electric Eye sounded a bit like our Reach For The Sky that I played Rob from a demo tape we had recorded about a year before Screaming For Vengeance came out. Maybe our style is close because Priest, like Sabbath, are from the same area. Holy Joe's is a rehearsal place that they used when they were starting out and we did too. We even have our stencilled logos on the same part of the wall. Rob helped us a lot getting us our first radio plays by taking in demo tapes. Robert Plant did the same thing for us and he too used to rehearse at Holy Joe's back in the day. Time To Burn is fast furious and apocalyptic, a natural set opener."

Good to play it live in Germany and Belgium later this year. Should get the crowd going crazy right from the start.

Is it true to say that Laying Down The Law was Cloven Hoof's biggest 'hit' so far? Were you ever tempted to re-visit the songwriting formula of Laying Down The Law, in search for another signature song or 'hit'..? "There is a danger of that when any song becomes more popular than others", reflects Lee Payne. "Managers and business people put pressure on you to go in search of a radio friendly hit. Some bands build a career playing 20 versions of the same song because they think it will make them more bucks. When a track naturally evolves and the hook line is catchy and makes you more accessible, then that is OK. But the truth is there is no magic formula really, no one really knows what the public will latch on to or everyone would be doing it. I prefer to not be contrived and never consciously try to make one song sound like another. Laying Down The Law was always a crowd pleaser right from day one and many bands have covered it. It is commercial but still tough sounding, I was only 18 when I wrote that. Still sounds as good today as it did then, the proof of a good track." Bannockburn does seem to refer to Scotland, and Scottish history? Do you have a (personal) connection to Scotland at all? Being more than 7 minutes long, Bannockburn is closing off this mighty fine record in epic style! "I do have family in Scotland a few uncles, aunts and cousinsquot;, explains Lee Payne. "I love the Scottish fans in particular and I wrote this especially for them. Jamie Bruce and a band of die hard metallers turned out to cheer us on at a venue one night and he said being as the song Road Of Eagles was an epic about war, why don't you write one about the mighty Bruce. Robert the Bruce was one of the great heroes of Scotland. He defeated the English King Edward II at the famous battle of Bannockburn. Rising up from oppression is something I identify with and this subject matter seemed the perfect Cloven Hoof vehicle. I wanted it to be an anthem for Scotland and freedom. I hope the fans like it half as much as our drummer Danny, he loves that song big time."

Spinefarm Records / AIRBOURNE have new blood, a new single and new shows
Posted by: Denis / 21.04.2017
AIRBOURNE are pleased to confirm that guitarist and their longtime staunch mate Matt 'Harri' Harrison has now joined their ranks; this comes in the wake of longstanding band member David Roads' decision to depart the world of rock 'n' roll for (quite literally) green pastures...

David has been a part of the ever-growing Airbourne story across four studio albums and extensive global touring, helping to establish the band (formed by brothers Joel & Ryan O'Keeffe in Warrnambool, Regional Victoria Australia 2003, and completed by bassist Justin Street) as one of the Hard Rock domain's most potent live outfits – a true force of nature with latest album, Breakin' Outta Hell, released by Spinefarm Records in September 2016, achieving their highest ever week-one chart positions worldwide.

"Roadsy has always loved rural Australia, his second passion being his family farm, and now he has decided to return to his roots to work alongside his father in the family business. We wish him well on his future endeavors.
As the old saying goes, 'you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy'. We say, good on ya mate, well-played and good luck!
Now to the future, and it’s all guns blazing foot to the floor! In the coming months, we look forward to introducing you to our new Airbourne brother, he's our long time staunch mate Harri 'The Riff Doctor' Harrison. Possessing a gifted Rock'n'Roll right hand motor he already 'fits in like a well-greased piston into a V8' and we are all pumped to be bringing his powerful locomotive-like rhythm with us to rock the summer festivals!
Cheers and see ya soon rockers!"
Joel, Ryan & Streety.

"Many thanks to all the fans. It has been an absolute pleasure rocking out with you guys over the years. It was great to be a part of this wild Airbourne ride! Cheers!"David.

Power/neoclassical Metal band Mastercastle have released a lyric video for the song Drink Of Me, the first single and opening track of the band's new album Wine Of Heaven, which will be released on May 19th on Scarlet Records.

Founded in 2008 by guitarist Pier Gonella (Necrodeath) and vocalist Giorgia Gueglio, Mastercastle soon became one of the leading forces in the European Power/neoclassical Metal scene, thanks to an addictive mix of strong riffs, virtuoso guitar solos and captivating female vocals, developed through each of their four, critically acclaimed albums.

Wine Of Heaven has been described by singer Giorgia Gueglio as "a journey through the aroma of the 'Nectar of the Gods', wandering among the meanderings of the mind, discovering the flavor of life, loneliness and passion". Recorded at MusicArt studio, this new album is characterized by a very dark mood, very low tunings and the constant and innovative use of keyboards, produced by Gonella himself, giving to the songs an avantgarde edge and compelling sound.

Pride & Joy Music / EMPIRE release audio video for "One In A Million" from the 'Trading Souls' album
Posted by: Denis / 21.04.2017
EMPIRE just released an audio video for the track One In A Million from the album Trading Souls which will be released on May 26th, 2017.

EMPIRE is the Hard Rock band of German guitarist Rolf Munkes (ex Majesty, ex Razorback, Crematory) which has released four exceptional albums in between the years of 2001 and 2007. On these releases, Munkes was accompanied by numerous high-class musicians.

The history of EMPIRE began in the year 2001 with the release of the album Hypnotica (Lion Music) which featured both the American singers Mark Boals (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) and Lance King (ex Nightmare) on vocals. The line-up at the time was completed by Neil Murray (bass, ex Whitesnake, Brian May Band, Black Sabbath etc.), Gerald Klos (drums), Anders Johansson (drums, ex Stratovarius) and Don Airey (keyboards, ex Rainbow, Deep Purple). Rolf Munkes produced Hypnotica himself; the mix was handled by Stefan Kaufmann (ex Accept, ex U.D.O.).

Only one year later, Trading Souls, the band's second album came out on Lion Music. The CD once again was produced by Munkes with the mix being handled by Kaufmann. On this release, singer extraordinare Tony Martin (ex Black Sabbath) replaced King and Martin on the vocal spot.

Tony Martin also sang on the – up until now – most successful CD from EMPIRE, The Rave Ride, which was released in 2006 on German label Metal Heaven. Besides of Munkes, who, for the first also produced and mixed this release himself at his own Empire Studios in Bensheim, Germany, Neil Murray took again care of the bass work whilst the drums this time were handled by ex-Rage/ex-Axxis drummer André Hilgers.
In 2007, the so far last album of EMPIRE saw the light of day. Chasing Shadows was once again released on Metal Heaven and the first record feat. former Rainbow singer Doogie White in the line-up. Mike Terrana (ex Rage, ex Axel Rudi Pell, Tarja Turunen) joined the group on drums.

In 2017, German label Pride & Joy Music will re-issue all four releases in a revised version. Trading Souls which will be released on May 26th, 2017.

Nuclear Blast / ENSLAVED enter the studio again
Posted by: Denis / 21.04.2017
It's been over two years since the release of critically acclaimed album In Times, and now Norway's Progressive Metal legends ENSLAVED have entered the studio again to record their 14th, yet untitled full-length release. Aiming for both wilder and yet more Progressive and melodic horizons, the band who celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, never ceases to surprise and challenge their fans; they will once again step up to the plate. The recordings are taking place at Duper & Solslottet Studios in Bergen throughout April, and will be mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios. With its epic touch, the album promises to be original and refreshing - and to contain some surprising new elements.

"It is absolutely fantastic to be in the studio with these new songs", states mastermind Ivar Bjørnson. "So many doors were opened with In Times and the times (sic) that followed; for us as a band, for me as a composer and I guess for us all on a personal level. I have never worked this hard to put together music for an album before, and that intensity continues into the studio where everybody is giving their everything, every hour of every day. We are a tighter unit than ever before, which is obvious sonically. The concept conjured by myself and old war-brother Grutle is the strongest we have worked with. Finally, I am proud that we have taken more risks than ever before, and one in particular - and it is yielding awesome results. What does that mean? Stay tuned to find out!"

The eye-catching cover and artwork is once again being currently created by renowned designer and painter Truls Espedal.

Napalm Records / SEVEN KINGDOMS release music video for 'Stargazer'
Posted by: Denis / 20.04.2017
'A fire must burn!' That's the spirit of Power Metal's finest SEVEN KINGDOMS while blazing a wild passion through every millisecond of their monstrous music. Welcome Decennium, their furious 10th band anniversary – out on May 5th worldwide via Napalm Records.

Be sure: SEVEN KINGDOMS' fast'n'heavy Thrash and Power Metal is always up-tempo, fierce and epic. Songstress Sabrina Valentine sings with full force and her charismatic voice flirts insanely with heavy twin guitars. This much is certain: These Floridian whirlwinds made their mark in the holy world of metal already!

See it for yourself with the new music video for the track Stargazer.

The band commented on the track & story behind Stargazer: "This was one of the first songs to come together on Decennium. Like many of the songs, this was originally a different concept that morphed into what it is. I have always been fascinated by Space and the idea that there is more out there that we do not understand. The song tackles the ideas of what lies beyond, and asks the questions that we all want to know. There was a scene in one of the more recent Star Trek movies where they were flying into a Volcano to save a primitive civilization from extinction. They accidentally got 'seen' by the tribe, and because of their lack of understanding, they essentially started drawing the shapes of the USS Enterprise in the sand as if to document history. This concept could apply to real life with Ancient Cave Paintings and the whole Ancient Alien stuff. To me its fascinating! Being a Sci-Fi fan, this is a thought that has always been in my head. What if we are that civilization? What if our ancestors experienced the same thing? We actually don't really know... until then we should 'question the unknown' and continue driving humanity forward, eventually into the stars..."

The old school Metal band BLAZING RUST from St. Petersburg has signed a worldwide deal with PURE STEEL RECORDS. The Band will release their album Armed To Exist on 28th July 2017 via PURE STEEL RECORDS.

The band was formed in November 2014 and consists of former and current members of well-known Russian Metal acts, such as Pyre, Drama, Ulvdalir, Internal Damage, Grenouer. Bandstatment, Roman Dovzhenko: "We are so excited about the fact that this album is coming out finally! An extensive work on all the production of our first full-length was carried out perfectly. We knew what we want and what we need and i believe we've achieved that! I'm happy with the results and I'm sure that nobody of you Metal brothers-in-arms will be disappointed!"
Igor Arbuzov: "Making Armed to Exist album had been a huge fun for me as I received a big amount of creative freedom and support from the band. We realized very soon how close we are musically and mentally. In my opinion our album is not just an imitation of the most popular 80s music genre. It's a great collection of tracks that won't leave any Heavy Metal fan indifferent. They can be fast and mid-tempo, rough, aggressive and melodic at the same time - everything you expect from classic Metal. Armed to Exist is a statement from the younger generation of musicians that says: 'We're ready to carry the flag of Heavy Metal!'!"

Posted by: Denis / 18.04.2017
Heavy Metal pioneers ACCEPT just finished an extensive European tour - and they are immediately back in the game with a new studio album! The record entitled The Rise Of Chaos, will be unleashed on August 4th, 2017. The band's 4th studio release through Nuclear Blast will continue the tradition of its three predecessors - Blood Of The Nations, Stalingrad, Blind Rage - with grandeur and precision.

And if this wasn't enough, ACCEPT will celebrate the album's live premiere exclusively on August 3rd, on the day before its release, as a part of a special show at Wacken Open Air, Germany. The set will consist of three parts, which represent the band's creative power:

  • Part 2 will present another premiere: Wolf Hoffmann will be playing tracks from his solo album Headbangers Symphony, released in 2016, with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for the very first time. On this record, Wolf has covered famous opuses by composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi, and Mozart, in a Metal guise.
  • And in Part 3, all elements can be seen and heard together: ACCEPT will make the holy Wacken ground shake by sharing the stage with the orchestra, supported by a complex multimedia show.
This unique concert experience will take place on this year's 'Night To Remember' which makes it even more special. The 'Night To Remember' is a celebrated, long-lasting Wacken tradition; for one night of the festival a selection of established bands will do something unique and special with their performance.

Wolf Hoffmann stated: "It's always impressive to see how bands take this evening seriously and how much love the artists and the organising team put into their work to get a varied result. It's a great tradition which underlines and documents the top-notch level of the international Rock community like nothing else. We also want to present something that ACCEPT has never done before, we hope we can give something really special to the fans."

"ACCEPT have been and are still a very important part of Germany's Heavy Metal scene. We're really looking forward to having them with us once more. With this epic concept, the Thursday evening will be one to remember for sure," stated Thomas Jensen, organiser of Wacken Open Air.

High Roller Records / HELLWELL - Behind the Demon's Eyes
Posted by: Denis / 14.04.2017
Without the shadow of a doubt Mark 'The Shark' Shelton is one of the most creative Metal musicians of all time. At the same time he is one of the most underrated visionaries of the genre. He formed US Metal legends Manilla Road back in 1977. The debut album Invasion was issued via their own record label Roadster in 1980. Throughout the 1980s Manilla Road records were virtually ignored by the media. Only a few knowing fans (and dedicated fanzines) who adored the band's unique style of epic metal kept the flame alive, paving the way for the band's astonishing rise to fame in the new millennium.

Now Mark Shelton presents his second official solo project outside of Manilla Road (if you discount 'Circus Maximus', which was planned as a solo project but due to record company pressure was released under the Manilla Road moniker). Hellwell's Behind The Demon's Eyes follows 2012's debut Beyond The Boundaries Of Sin.

"The first thing that is really different if you compare the first to the second Hellwell album", states the legendary Mark Shelton, "is that Randy Thrasher Foxe (of Manilla Road fame) is now the drummer for the band and he delivers a great performance on Behind The Demon's Eyes. The themes and concepts are still coming from the same sort of Gothic horror, except this time there is a little more of a science fiction angle to it at times. The music is more polished than the first album and a lot of the material is more technical and even progressive one might say. I'm really proud of this album and the performances on it, as well as the compositions themselves."

If you listen to the album carefully, it might occur to you that the keyboards and synthesizers are not that prominent on Behind The Demon's Eyes in comparison to Beyond The Boundaries Of Sin. And furthermore, the 1970s Hard Rock feel does not seem to be that dominating, songs such as Necromantio do feature some more upbeat parts as well... Mark Shelton explains in detail: "We were not really trying to maintain a 1970s sound to the project or the band. The idea is to fuse different styles of Metal and Rock together that support the atmosphere of the concepts and stories within the album. Behind The Demon's Eyes seems to be a little heavier than our first effort but at the same time the arrangements and songs themselves are a little more sophisticated… I guess that would be the correct word for it. As for the amount of keyboard or synthesizer parts, I think there is still a lot on the album. We only use the keys and synthesizers when we think it is appropriate. I know there was a lot of pipe organ stuff going on in this one. Especially in the songs that were really Gothic or Classic horror type themes. It's all just a matter of what sounds cool to us."

All in all, this could lead to getting the impression that Behind The Demon's Eyes is much closer to Manilla Road in style than Hellwell's debut album... What made Mark decide that the six songs on the new album would not fit into the Manilla Road framework at all..? "I can see why you get that impression from some of this material", he says. "With Randy playing on this one, sometimes it sounds to me like stuff that could have easily been on an album such as Out Of The Abyss. It really was not a matter of thinking that these songs would not fit with Manilla Road as much as it was just writing and creating these songs for Hellwell. None of these songs were ever considered for the new Manilla Road album. The thought never even crossed my mind because the new Manilla Road album already had a life of its own and a direction that had nothing to do with the songs that I had written for Behind The Demon's Eyes. Every once in a while a song will slip from one project to another, but it is rare. For example, the song Deadly Nightshade on the first Hellwell album was originally written for Manilla Road and the Playground Of The Damned album but Corey never came up with a drum part for it and it did not make it on that album. Some time later Johnny Benson (drummer on the first Hellwell release) heard the song and came up with a killer drum part for it and so we added keyboard parts and suddenly it became a Hellwell song. But all the songs on the new album were written specifically for this project."

"It's not a concept album", elaborates Mark Shelton on the lyrical content of Behind The Demon's Eyes, "except for the fact that all the stories are horror stories in nature. Even the more modern, almost science fiction themes are still very rooted in classic horror. It is an album of several stories ranging from ghostly things to cannibalistic behaviour, human sacrifice, black magik of the occult, demons from other dimensions, aliens and even a song about Victor Frankenstein. It's a collage of tales in which there are no happy endings."

Once more, the cover artwork is absolutely brilliant, who was responsible for it? "Paolo Girardi is the artist", says Mark Shelton. "He also did our last Manilla Road album cover painting for The Blessed Curse. He is from Italy and a really close friend of mine for about 16 years. What I really like about Paolo is that he is a traditional artist that uses oil painting on canvas, like the old masters did. No computer imagery in his stuff and that just makes it so much more humanistic for me. There are some things that a computer still cannot do and art like that is one of those things. Paolo is simply an amazing artist."

By the way, does Mark think that Hellwell would ever develop into a touring band? "Hellwell has never played a single live show", is his straight answer. "We put the group together thinking of it as a studio project band only and so far we have stuck to that. I suppose it is possible that it could turn into a live touring band if the demand for such a thing would come to pass. But Manilla Road will always be my first and foremost ambition and we have a lot of touring ahead of us with Manilla Road, so I don't think a Hellwell tour will be happening any time soon."

So it does seem pretty unlikely that Mark is planning to realize any more side projects (like Chris Black of High Spirits). Or would that be an option? Mark Shelton: "I actually still have at least one other project up my sleeve for the future but that will be announced in due time. Right now I am working on the next Manilla Road album. I might even put another solo project out but this time it will not be an all acoustic album."

On the song It's Alive it seems as if the Hellwell singer does experiment with his voice quite a bit. Somehow this reminds me a little bit of Crystal Logic, which was a very versatile album as well, especially in the vocal department... "Thanks for the kind words", he says. "I try to approach the Hellwell material a little differently than I do everything else. There is a little more death metal style at times but I can never get completely away from melodic vocals and harmonies. I can experiment with the Hellwell vocal parts a little more than usual because of not having to worry about singing the parts live. It's a whole different thing to have to sing and play guitar at the same time and since I don't have to worry about that for live with this music, I can be a little more inventive with the vocal and guitar parts."

The Galaxy Being has some really insane sound effects (especially at the beginning), sounding as if paying tribute to 1950s/60s science fiction/horror B-movies, creating a very haunting atmosphere, frightening stuff... "You have all of that totally correct", Mark Shelton smiles. "That is exactly what we were after with the intro and ending of that song. Glad to see that it worked, ha, ha. I'm a huge fan of old science fiction and horror from all time frames but the stuff that came out in the 1950s and 1960s was especially influential to me because that was when I was growing up and the Saturday movie matinees were only .25 cents for a triple feature. We used to go to the drive-in theatres every weekend watching many a B-movie. I still go back and watch those movies and am still fascinated with the genre of fantasy, horror and science fiction. Much of what was science fiction to us back then is now science fact today. Sorry. I was rambling, he, he. Back to the point – the soundtracks from those movies are incredible cool if you ask me. Such great weird and eerie sounds they came up with back then. And if you think of the equipment they were using. Well, back then you had Foley Artists instead of digital sound samples. They didn't have all-in-one synthesizers like today and yet they came up with some great sounds and effects. It is sort of a tribute, as is a lot of the music on the album. That is a tribute to the whole of the horror and science fiction genre of entertainment."

The Last Rites Of Edward Hawthorn is over 13 minutes long, an epic Metal Prog monster, again very emotional, dramatic and full of dynamics... How does the Hellwell boss compose such a song? On the guitar, on the piano, keyboards, computer? "With that song it started with piano", reveals Mark Shelton, "which is what turned into the first section of the song. Then my son wrote the music for the second passage in the song. He wrote that on guitar. If I remember correctly, he wrote it on a six string acoustic and then played it on electric on the album. The third and heaviest part of the song I wrote on guitar. The arrangements for the keyboard parts and bass parts, drums and vocals were all created after the initial rhythm tracks. Most generally, I will write the songs using guitar but with Hellwell sometimes the keyboard parts come first in the creation of the song. For example, the big Heavy Doom section of the song To Serve Man was thought of on keyboards by me first and then the guitar part sort of came to me while I was messing around on the keys. You just never can tell what will happen if you experiment and play around, giving things like that a chance to come out of you. That is why I love having my own studio and having the time to chill out and get creative with it."

Was writing Behind The Demon's Eyes a team effort or more like a Mark Shelton solo project under the banner of Hellwell? The Shark says: "I guess this one was more of a Shelton idea than a group effort when it comes to the actual writing of the music and lyrics but it was all of us, including the second engineer in our studio, Derek (Dr. Doom) Brubaker, that came up with the topic ideas and the overall approach to the project. In that manner, it was a team effort. Also the drums were done in a different studio than mine, so you had others involved in the creation process at that studio also. I sort of took control of writing all the songs on this one, except for the help I got from my son on The Last Rites of Edward Hawthorn. I started working on this album directly after finishing the first Hellwell album Beyond The Boundaries Of Sin. I had a pretty good idea in my head what direction I wanted the next album to sound like. I wanted to expand on the atmospheric and mystical sound possibilities but at the same time I was hearing great doom-laden sections of epic majesty and super heavy sections with near thrash intensity. All this was already swirling around in my head and I think because I already had a direction musically with the first ideas for the album, everyone just let me run with the ball. It was a great feeling when we finished the final mixes on this one. I had a lot of fun working with all the guys involved in this project and I'm totally proud of the outcome of the music, performances and art. It's a sweet package with some of my best progressive epic horror Doom Metal, ha, ha. 'Up The Hammers & for sure Down The Nails'."
High Roller Records / INFERNAL MAJESTY - No God
Posted by: Denis / 14.04.2017
It's been a long wait, and it is finally over: Canadian Thrash Metal masters Infernäl Mäjesty are at last presenting the world with a brand new full-length album. No God is their fourth LP, and the first to come out in thirteen years. Singer and band mastermind Chris Bailey is more than excited about the release: "We are seriously feeling awesome. When your hard work, thoughts and ideas finally come together into reality it's a great feeling but we have a lot of work still to do". He then tries to give a short summary of what has happened in the Infernäl camp since the first release of their last album One Who Points to Death in 2004: "When I get asked this my brain freezes because I don't know where to start. As you can imagine much has gone on. A lot of soul searching, dealing with personal demons, member changes, death and destruction. All will be revealed in the book I'm writing on our history. Sure to become a movie. There are many more chapters yet to be played out before I begin the final cut."

Infernäl Mäjesty are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2017 and the band have a lot in the works to celebrate that special date. Chris tells us what it is they're planning: "We couldn't be more stoked to be working with High Roller Records as part of our 30th anniversary. We have been celebrating since the new year began. We have lots planned including two more album re-releases, a guitar giveaway later this year and some major news concerning touring." Doesn't sound bad at all! But let's get back to the new album now: What were Infernäl Mäjesty's goal for the new album, and does Chris think they've met them?

"We have slowly but surely been reaching our goals that we set out to achieve when we embarked on our newest journey. We wanted to write a good album with good lyrics that weren't just fluff. There is a purpose and insight to go with a heavy thrash attack on the senses. That was our main goal. We put a lot into No God but it will be up to our fans to decide. If they like it, then we achieved our goal."

While many bands start out with a 'we just want to play what comes to our minds'-attitude, Infernäl Mäjesty have had a different approach from the very beginning: "We have always been critical when writing our music. Our approach hasn't changed but our level of insight and breadth of knowledge has increased ten fold. As society changes so do we, often as an observer and orator. The dark side is our muse." No God is a strong and uncompromising title in itself, and looking at the song titles, it seems as if the absence of God is a topic that runs through the whole album. Chris explains the thoughts behind it: "We were focused on this message of truth from the beginning. It's important we feel to help the future of human kind. There is no God of the bible and if by chance there was a force of nature that displayed what seemed to us humans as supernatural, then it will be contained and identified by science. Much like how we are unravelling the mysteries of Dark Matter. Religion is destroying this planet as is bad journalism and a public unable to decipher fact from fiction."

Once again, Infernäl Mäjesty went through some line-up changes before the new album was recorded: Eric Dubreuil (bass) and Kris DeBoer (drums) left and were replaced with two new members. Some people may know new drummer Kiel Wilson from his time with Canadian Melodic Death Metal outfit Severed Serenity. "Kiel has been a friend of the band for years. He was playing for us back in the early days when Chey left shortly after our arrival in Vancouver. We kept in contact as he stayed active writing and playing music. It was great timing when we approached Kiel to be our new fulltime drummer. Without hesitation he was ready to come back, this time to take the helm on drums." And what about Daniel Nargang, the new bassist? Isn't he actually the singer of the classic Heavy Metal outfit Kick Axe? "You bet and still is. This is without a doubt the strongest we have been. Dan is one of the great talents that we are honoured to have on board. We have no missing pieces now. No weak links." That said, it is no big surprise that Kiel and Daniel played an important role in the creation of No God: "The album wouldn't be out yet if it weren't for Kiel's and Dan's contribution creating the foundation for No God. Working with Kiel shaping the drums for the songs was amazing. You can also look forward to hearing Dan's contribution on False Flag, the intro for Nation Of Assassins. When everyone is on the same page in spirit and in mindset you can feel the energy come out in the music." Absolutely. And what about the more technical details? "We wrote the album in Vancouver over a three year period. We had a lot of other band related things on the go as well during this time that overlapped that normally wouldn't be on our plate while writing an album but we literally started from scratch. Reborn like the Phoenix. For example, putting together everything to record an album ourselves was a huge challenge that we are proud to have conquered."

No God sounds amazing, it is heavy and dark, crisp and powerful. Who was involved in the production process, apart from the band? "Well, it took a year to capture the sound of this album. We really worked on it day and night. Tweaking and modifying and receiving 3am phone calls saying 'you got to hear this!'! Steve, Ken and I wrote and produced the album. We believe that it's the ultimate way to express the band. The powerful skills of Chris 'Hollywood' Holmes were called upon to take over the mixing and mastering operations. When we started to talk about my return to the band one of the things we discussed that we had to have mutual agreement on was to write, record and produce No God ourselves."

The two new songs House of War and False Flag were already released on a single – is that the reason why they didn't make it on the album? "As Steve, Ken and I were writing the songs for No God the one thing that never crossed our mind was worrying about how long a song should be. We weren't concerned about writing a song at any particular length for air play. So basically we wrote more songs then could fit on an album. House Of War and False Flag were going to be released regardless. Although now as I think about it, its all the more reason to get both the album and the 7 inch. ;-)"

The above mentioned House of War 7 inch reaped a lot of praise, with people being exalted about the savage combination of Death and Thrash and the impressive song writing. The same is true for No God and Chris really doesn't have any objections against this: "We appreciate that. It's truly how we wanted to excite our fans. As we are now almost finished writing the follow up to No God that we will have ready for release early in 2018, you will hear the same approach, only graduated to the next level of melodic cacophony that is uniquely Infernäl Mäjesty."

What development does Chris see when he looks at No God, both compared to the last effort One who points to Death and when looking at it as the last link in a chain that runs from None Shall Defy to No God? "It feels like we have come full circle and are now about to break free into orbit. It feels like a natural progression from One Who Points To Death. I personally believe No God to be our greatest works since None Shall Defy was created."

Infernäl Mäjesty have also released a video to House of War that deals with the horrors and the futility of all wars. According to the credits, this video was a complete DIY-endeavour, and Chris also got some family members involved: "My parents mean the world to me. Their support through good times and bad has kept me grounded. I owe everything to them. They volunteered without hesitation to act in a snow storm and abandoned ruins, covered in blood. They are our biggest fans. They are also appearing in the new No God video. Not just because they are my parents and they caught the acting bug, but because they are damn good actors. I also think its something special when a band creates their own videos, if they're good, then great. If they are not, just keep trying." There are definitely some great things about No God, and one of them is the beautifully sombre cover artwork. Chris lets us know who did this amazing piece: "The exquisite and incredibly gifted, professional independent artists, Safir & Rifas. Safir (Dorina Pantea) & Rifas (Diana Pantea). Originally titled 'Death Angel' or 'Fallen Angel'. Their art is breathtaking and will leave a lasting impression on you." Apart from that, the album will come with a great many of nice features: "It comes with a poster, a lyric sheet, and a heavy cardboard cover with some personal liner notes and thoughts from Steve, Kenny and me. My favourite feature is the Transparent Royal Blue custom vinyl." Any last words? Absolutely: "We hope you worship our newest offering coming out April 14th. There has been a lot of talk and hype about this and I believe No God will live up to it. We have our soul in these songs touched only by us and the forces of nature. If you have a missing feeling inside lately then give No God a listen. Take care everyone."

InsideOut Music / Jim Matheos announces debut album from Tuesday The Sky
Posted by: Denis / 14.04.2017
Jim Matheos, founding guitarist of legendary US Progressive metallers Fates Warning, has announced the release of the debut album from his new Ambient instrumental Rock project Tuesday The Sky. The first full-length album Drift is set for release on June 30th, 2017, and sees Matheos expanding the boundaries of his sound ever further.

Drift came together in the downtime between Fates Warning finishing Theories of Flight and the beginning of the touring cycle, enabling Matheos to explore a type of atmospheric and instrumental music you might not expect of him. He comments: "With this kind of music, it's a lot about creating a mood and letting that sink in and develop over long periods of time, as opposed to the more frenetic format of most Prog music." Taking cues from artists like Brian Eno, Boards Of Canada, Sigur Ros, Explosions In The Sky, he explores expansive textures and ambient electronica, as well as some of the most colossal riffs he has ever produced.

The album also features the talents of God Is An Astronaut's drummer Lloyd Hanney, who provides a rhythmic backbone that is at once punchy, precise and restrained when necessary. Other guests include long-time OSI collaborator and former Dream Theater member Kevin Moore who plays keys on two songs as well as Anna-Lynne Williams (Trespassers William, Lotte Kestner), who provides ethereal vocals (of the non-verbal kind) on two other songs.

What the future of this project holds and whether it will be taken out on the road is yet to be seen. Matheos comments: "It would be a challenge to bring this project but it is an interesting idea and one I would at least consider if there seems to be enough interest". What is sure though, is that Tuesday The Sky's debut is a bold, brave, creative and ultimately successful album from one of Rock's most underrated of musicians.

The album will be released as special edition CD, black LP + CD & digital download.

Vocalist John Knight had this to say about the lyrical meaning behind the new song:
"Lyrically the song describes the story of one person's dependency on medication, antipsychotic drugs, the decision whether to stop taking them and return to a natural state risking confusion and illness or to continue on, the side effects, the withdrawals, the risks. All overseen by the 'god like' Psychiatrist. Singer John Knight worked for many years within the Mental Health system at management level and witnessed how the clients saw and described their experiences, 'I spoke at length with a client about her feelings towards her medication and her Psychiatrist, she told me her Psychiatrist was 'like a God', someone who oversaw all the choices she made and controlled her life, it made an impression and I wrote this song that night, of course not every story is the same and medication plays a very important and useful part of people's life, it's not an anti-medication song at all, but about the conflict a person has, the internal battle... telling themselves 'I'm well now, I don't need these tablets' without realising they feel this way because the medication is working, the side effects both being on and withdrawing can be severe."

White Circles is a song with great progressive dynamics, light and shade, building to a frantic & blistering metallic end.
Frontiers Music / DGM - Passing Stages
Posted by: Denis / 12.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of DGM's first live album, entitled Passing Stages, on June 2nd.

DGM's last album (their eighth), The Passage was released in August 2016 and marked the culmination of almost 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 and has pushed the Italian band into the elite rankings of the international Progressive Metal scene. Over the years, DGM has managed to tour the world, taking part in some of the biggest and most celebrated metal festivals around the globe and sharing the stage with the likes of Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Avantasia, Scorpions, and many others.

With a bulletproof line-up comprised of producer/guitarist Simone Mularoni, singer Marco Basile, bassist Andrea Arcangeli, drummer Fabio Costantino, and keyboardist Emanuele Casali, DGM can now share their awesome musicianship and songwriting skills with all audiences via the release of this truly beautiful live release!

"Passing Stages is the best possible illustration of what DGM are capable of on a stage these days", says Simone Mularoni. "We put our hearts and souls into the making this one and managed to capture magical nights that we'll remember forever. In our career, Passing Stages will be a milestone in our discography and a great conclusion of the first decade of this line-up. Here's to the future."

Herein are captured two separate performances for fans to enjoy via audio on CD and MP3 and visually via DVD or Blu-Ray. The first show is the entire performance held in front of the inaugural Frontiers Metal Festival, in Trezzo Sull'Adda (Milano) on October 30, 2016 and has a set-list centered around the latest album, The Passage. "We wanted to show to the whole world how great the Italian fans are and how much we love to play in our home country, and we had the best occasion with the first edition of Frontiers Metal Festival", continues Simone. "With our last album, The Passage, I think we managed to reach an even bigger crowd and that particular day was really one of a kind... the best Italian live club, packed with fans, together with a lot of friends and a gig focused on the last album."

The second show captured sees the band in action at the ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA on September 11, 2014. The setlist shows an emphasis on the albums Frame and Momentum. "Our second time at ProgPower USA was an important step of the 'Momentum' tour and filming that evening was mandatory", explains Simone. "We felt the warmth of the crowd, we worked with fabulous technicians and with one of the best crews ever. The atmosphere pervading the Center Stage in Atlanta is unique and we did our best to honor this awesome festival with a performance at the top of our abilities. I'm pretty sure that whoever watches the concert will feel like being right in front of the stage singing with us."

This is an unmissable opportunity to witness the superb qualities of the Italian quintet in the live environment and also opens the door to newer fans (of which there are quite a few) to experience their excellent and older repertoire.

Since the beginning CUSTARD were a phenomena in Teutonic Steel. From 0 to 100 they bursted into the scene with great old school Heavy Metal songs. Of course a lot of bands play that style, but CUSTARD always made the 'more' in songwriting, power and melody.

Fortunately nothing has changed for CUSTARD these days. Vocalist Olli Strasser and his two guitarists Stefan Absorber and Carsten Reichart still find their own way to create great riffings and melodies based on the concrete of Chris Klapper and Markus Berghammer. The lyric themes vary from catchy to extraordinary and with small -yet precious- ingredients like Folky tunes along other little enrichments the songs get this special 'thing' to make it a must for fans of HELLOWEEN to JUDAS PRIEST. A Realm of Tales leave an overall statement: The masters are back!

Imperative PR / Maxdmyz - Alchemical Metal
Posted by: Denis / 07.04.2017
The sound of Maxdmyz has always been built upon the principle of absolute freedom. They follow no orders, defy all expectations and respect no rules but their own. Armed with their palette of endless colours these sonic rebels have produced music as eclectic as it is explosive. They have poured emotion into a heart of steel, crafting a music machine driven by love, hate, rage and joy, sadness, regret and hope. This band can deliver a hammer blow with an iron fist, bewitch your body into a pulsing dance or simply obliterate you in a wall of cyber noise. All of this and more can be found on their latest release, the beguiling, untameable, impossible to cage Alchemical Metal.

Alchemical Metal takes every element of the Maxdmyz live show that has enthralled crowds from London to New York and blends them into a quicksilver potion of magical intensity. The voice of front man Twister leads you into a labyrinth of sound, a maze of spine shattering blast beats, convulsing bass, shimmering synths and riffs like a war machine. You'll be enchanted and broken, raised up to dizzying heights of euphoria and crushed into the dirt of bitter, black despair. From a reason to live to down in the dirt, via hell...

How do you categorise a band like Maxdmyz? What genre tag do you tie to them? The truth is, that they simply will not be put in anyone else's box and the only name that fits is one of their own making – Alchemical Metal; the collision of science and sorcery, the transformation of the mundane to the magical, base metal into gold. It's time to try a new drug, take the path less travelled, leap into the dark and watch an array of colours explode around you. Live hard, live fast and feel every moment to the max. Alchemical Metal is here to take you on a new ride. Take a deep breath and hold on tight...

Swedish Thrash Metal heroes My Regime, featuring legendary singer/songwriter Spice (Spiritual Beggars, Kayser) and members/ex-members of Spiritual Beggars, Kayser, Band of Spice, The Mushroom River Band, have revealed the details of their new album Deranged Patterns, which will be released on June 23rd on Scarlet Records. The tracklist is as follows:
  1. Deranged Patterns
  2. Time Slipping Out Of Tune
  3. Rays Of Grey
  4. Off To War
  5. I Am
  6. The Sound Of Dying Dreams
  7. Nervous Fort
  8. The Smiling Dog
  9. The Cage
  10. Silver
  11. Surreal Reality
The cover artwork was made by Italian artist Paolo Girardi. This is how Spice commented: "I just gave Paolo some small details of what the lyrics were about and the state of my mind when I wrote them. Other than that I pretty much gave him free hands to come up with his own vision. I knew he would surprise me in a good way. He is one of a kind. Unique. A true artist." And about the new album: "Deranged Patterns pretty much took off where the last one ended. The only difference is that the new songs have been injected with some serious steroids. It's full of blistering and bonecrushing riffs. It's heavy and raw. It's 'take no prisoners'. Once again we recorded the drums in the old fashioned way. No fucking pre recorded clicktrack guitars. Just me and Bob Ruben in the same room, finding the groove, the pace and getting it done. There is a lot more 'meat' in the guitar sound this time. Also the bass has more balls. I think the whole record has a lot more punch and a bigger sound to it than the last one. Many of the lyrics deal with how to cope and to stay sane in the almost surreal reality of a 'politically correct' World. It's about the inner war. The madness around. Blood and guts and all our beheaded dreams. It's fucking Thrash Metal!"

Frontiers Music / Jorn - Life on Death Road
Posted by: Denis / 07.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is delighted to announce the release of JORN's brand new studio album, entitled Life on Death Road on June 2, 2017.

Easily one of the greatest rock singers of the 21st century, Norway's very own giant Viking warrior Jorn Lande's vocals are resoundingly strong once again on his ninth original studio album, Life on Death Road! This absolutely brilliant new album sees Lande attacking the microphone with rejuvenated vigor, accompanied by a new band and a bigger and stronger sound.

Life On Death Road took several months of hard work for the songwriting vision to come together. Jorn needed to take the music to a new level to push the concept of the band further than it has ever gone before. The result is a record that is deep, strong, full of groove and powerful with anthemic songs aplenty! Songs like Man Of The 80's, Love Is The Remedy, Life On Death Road, Insoluble Maze (Dreams In The Blindness), The Slippery Slope (Hangman's Rope) capture the essence of Jorn as a singer, songwriter and lyricist.

Jorn says, "It's easily one of the best albums I've ever recorded. This was all about putting the right people together for the right result, and about taking the necessary time to work more thoroughly and in depth with the material we chose for the album. The older I get, the more I feel it is necessary to listen to my heart and look for that genuine and honest feeling that made me take interest in music in the first place. Back in the 70's and early 80's when I grew up, people and music were more free and so the presence of feeling and soul came more naturally and was expected from an artist or a band. This is the energy and craftmanship we've been looking for, but still keeping a pulse on the modern times we live in. Life On Death Road is an original album that is pretty much summing up the last 40-50 years of Rock and Metal and has become a hybrid modern heavy rock album without losing those tasty elements of a good aged wine. Regardless, we're all products of our time, and the feeling, soul and symbioses we've achieved for this album is a rarity in today's music world, so in that sense this album is a true old school sailors' 'tall ship adventure'. From start to finish it took us nearly three years to finalize and I'm really proud to say that this album is the proof that classic albums can still be made."

The album also marks the debut of a new lineup of very experienced and gifted musicians around the Norwegian singer. On bass is Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) who needs virtually no introduction to European Heavy Metal fanatics. On keyboards and production is Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints), who already joined JORN for the recording of his last covers album, Heavy Rock Radio and was the glue that helped Jorn to create the feel and the direction for the new album. Francesco Jovino (Primal Fear) is on drums and Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle) handles guitar. Truly a recipe for a roaring success!

Jorn had no desire to do 'just another' JORN record. The aim was to do the best record possible and it took almost two years of writing, arranging, and producing before wrapping this all up. The performances are thunderous across the board and you can hear the urgency of these songs in Jorn's singing!

Jorn's catalogue is getting too long to include in brief overviews and his innovative and creative skills as a vocalist and music visionary have led to him selling millions of albums worldwide while being a frequent entrant on sales charts around the world including Billboard. Worth a mention here though are his years fronting Masterplan, whom he recorded three albums with. He has also recently collaborated with the world's biggest online gaming company, Riot Games, providing vocals for the virtual band 'Pentakill' in the game 'League of Legends'. Claimed to be the biggest selling Norwegian musical export since the pop band A-Ha, Jorn continues his Rock crusade and there are no signs of him slowing down and Life on Death Road is a magnificent testament to his abilities!
    Life on Death Road tracklisting:
  1. Life On Death Road
  2. Hammered To The Cross (The Business)
  3. Love Is The Remedy
  4. Dreamwalker
  5. Fire To The Sun
  6. Insoluble Maze (Dreams In The Blindness)
  7. I Walked Away
  8. The Slippery Slope (Hangman's Rope)
  9. Devil You Can Drive
  10. The Optimist
  11. Man Of The 80's

Imperative PR / Stream new Basement Torture Killings album
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
This Friday, April 7th, the murderous Basement Torture Killings will unleash their savage new album, There's Something About Beryl, through Grindscene Records. However, in an attempt to warn people of the carnage to come, Zero Tolerance Magazine are exclusively streaming the album in its entirety at their website – right now! Noone can't guarantee how long the deranged killers in Basement Torture Killings will allow this to go on...

The album is an incredibly intense onslaught of stunning, extreme Death Metal, fuelled by an uncontrollable obsession with torment, torture and death. In the dark world of ultra-extremity Basement Torture Killings stand out like a mountainous bonfire of the burning dead.

Combining whirlwind intensity, breathtaking brutality, masterful musicianship and cruelly creative song writing, There's Something About Beryl is a wickedly exhilarating listen. While you're lost in the blood shower you'll forget everything but the thrill of the kill... but when the music stops and everything goes quiet, you'll be checking under the bed for monsters; because some monsters are very, very real... and they're coming for you.

Frontiers Music / Secret Sphere - The Nature of Time
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to present the release of The Nature of Time, Secret Sphere's ninth studio album, on June 2, 2017.

The new recording celebrates 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 with the release of the band's widely praised debut album, Mistress Of The Shadowlight. Since then, Secret Sphere has evolved and developed their unique style into what has become a trademark sound, making them one of an elite group of bands putting the Italian Metal scene on the global map. The addition of extraordinary singer Michele Luppi (also currently serving as keyboardist and background vocalist for the legendary Hard Rock act, Whitesnake) in 2012 brought the band to the next level. This was evidenced by his first release with the band, Portrait Of A Dying Heart, receiving wide fan and critical acclaim and landing on many Metal journalists best releases of 2012 lists.

The new album, The Nature Of Time, proves to be the ultimate showcase of the band's skill in composing highly orchestrated songs and introducing their foray into a new age of Heavy Rock and Metal music. High class songs with amazing choruses, big vocals, majestic orchestral arrangements, and amazing, mind-blowing, guitar heroics are the order of the day.

The Nature Of Time explores the 'back to life' concept, an inward looking search of the self that can positively impact everyone's everyday life.

"The long writing process of this album has been a constant 're-living' of memories and feelings, that started with only instrumental pieces that were put together only in order to vent my then current state of mind: a way to express emotions purely, without any kind of 'holding back', so to speak. I then talked to Michele and we decided these were the perfect basis for a new Secret Sphere record", states guitarist Aldo Lonobile.

"What can I say about this album? We spent a few months writing songs in a way that opened the doors to our new age of heavy rock... definitely a new beginning for each member of the band, a new approach that got inspired by the concept of the album itself. It's not easy to open and talk about love and kindness. We chose the most direct way, no masks, only passion, energy and light guided each note leaving any kind of fear behind. Eventually, with time, we became US, not individuals... THIS IS US. Some of these songs earned a very special place in my heart", concludes singer Michele Luppi.

This is truly a symphonic and Melodic Metal masterpiece, a very cinematic album. So close your eyes, enjoy the journey and... the music!

Frontiers Music / Radiation Romeos
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of RADIATION ROMEOS self-titled debut album on June 2, 2017!

Radiation Romeos is a new band formed by the amazing singer Parramore 'Perry' McCarty, best known for being the frontman of legendary US Metal act Warrior and famed Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens' solo project, Atomic Playboys (in fact, the inspiration for the name Radiation Romeos came from a line in the song Atomic Playboys).

Musically, the band moves in a Melodic Hard Rock direction with solid, metallic edges thanks to the production of Michael Voss (Phantom 5, Casanova, Michael Schenker), who also contributed to the songwriting. In the studio, Parramore sang all vocals with Dag Heyne handling guitars, Jogi Spittka on bass, and Gereon Homann laying down the drum work with gusto!

Perry says: "Radiation Romeos started when producer Michael Voss contacted me in San Diego through Facebook. A few days later we had the record agreement with Frontiers, so the RADIATION ROMEOS album was soon under way. Our goal was to write great Melodic Rock songs. The album spans the globe from the title track, power rockin' RADIATION ROMEOS to some songs with a bit more grit like CASTAWAYS. All the way to a beautiful ballad, LIKE AN ARROW. Something for everyone, if you will... The recording was so much fun and exciting for me. I couldn't wait to get up the following day to work on the next song! Michael is a wonderfully professional person with endless talent and the musicians super cool guys and top players!"

Parramore McCarty's career in music started when Robbin Crosby of RATT gave him his start singing in cover bands. His first major label album was Fighting For the Earth on Virgin Records in 1985 for the legendary Heavy Metal band Warrior. Steve Stevens' Atomic Playboys followed in 1989 on Warner Bros. Records. Then he returned to Warrior and also started gigging in the LA area with Metal Freqs and Monster Traxx.

Radiation Romeos will take no prisoners with their exciting mixture of muscular rock anthems and killer melodic songs!

Frontiers Music / The Ferrymen
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is truly excited to present THE FERRYMEN's self-titled debut album, set for release on June 2, 2017!

The Ferrymen is a brand new project featuring guitarist Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall) and vocalist Ronnie Romero (Lords Of Black, Rainbow), together with drummer Mike Terrana (Rage, AXEL RUDI PELL, MasterPlan and more).

The songs were written by KarlssonRomero was sent the music via their main bands' shared label home Frontiers, he immediately wanted to be part of the project. Terrana was the last piece of the puzzle and he recorded his drums in Italy, where he currently resides.

The resulting album is a shot of adrenaline for all lovers of Melodic Metal! Musically, you can expect maximum Melodic Metal fusing the songwriting and epic structures of the great ALLEN/LANDE records (for which Magnus Karlsson was the main architect of the first three widely praised releases) with the Ronnie James Dio-esque vocal approach of Romero. (Let's not forget that Romero was hand-picked by Deep Purple (1968-1976) and Rainbow's legendary guitarist Richie Blackmore to be the lead vocalist for Rainbow's recent reunion shows, so the Dio comparison is more than accurate!)

Tells Magnus, "When I wrote this record, having Ronnie singing, I had no limits in mind with the lyrics. Ronnie could sing everything and I am also very proud of the songs!"

"I am used to working with Lords of Black in a certain straight style", adds Ronnie Romero, "but, this record was very different and it was very exciting for me!"

"Overall, I think it is one of the coolest and grooviest records I've ever done", concludes Mike Terrana, a drummer with more than 100 records under his belt!

With stunning artwork courtesy of Stan W. Decker and an outstanding mix courtesy of Simone Mularoni (of Italian Prog Metal masters DGM), THE FERRYMEN is an album which will take the Metal world by storm in 2017!

  9. Making Love

Mastercastle's line-up also includes bassist Steve Vawamas and drummer Alessio Spallarossa (Sadist).

So I wrote this tune just for her and she really loved it. She came to the studio and we recorded it within a couple of hours. The result is amazing – another soon-to-be PELL classic in the making. If I hadn't been a fan already, I would have turned into one instantly."

AFM Records / DIRKSCHNEIDER / U.D.O. found their new guitar player
Posted by: Denis / 03.04.2017
DIRKSCHNEIDER / U.D.O. statement:
"We are very proud to announce that Mr. Bill Hudson from Brazil is the new guitarist of Dirkschneider / UDO! Bill is based in the United States, but has already been in Pulheim a few weeks ago to join the songwriting session for our next album which we will start recording soon.
Bill fits in in every way perfectly with us and builds a fantastic guitar team together with Andrey Smirnov. He is very experienced and has shared the stage with several known bands, most notably Circle II Circle, Jon Oliva's Pain and TSO for the last few years. It's not really necessary to talk about his skills, simply check it out on our next tour and you will see what we're talking about!
After Kasperi left the band we have received many suggestions and applications from great guitar players from all over the planet. At the same time, we started getting hints from different and unrelated people in the business pointing straight into the same direction, telling us to check out this Brazilian/American guy. Once in Germany he convinced everybody from the get go and it was very clear that this guy had all the requirements to become the new band member.
We are REALLY looking forward to kick ass even more so than ever before."
