High Roller Records / CLOVEN HOOF - Who Mourns for the Morning Star?
Posted by: Denis / 24.04.2017
Midlands outfit Cloven Hoof must rate as one of the most legendary bands of the entire New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. The origins of the group go back to the year 1979, when they first formed under the name of Nightstalker. In 1981, however, the band switched to their new moniker: Cloven Hoof. Original vocalist David Potter, guitarist Steve Rounds, drummer Kevin Poutney and main man Lee Payne on bass adopted the stage characters of 'Earth', 'Fire', 'Water' and 'Air'. A very interesting concept which was far ahead of its time. After recording demos of songs such as Return Of The Passover and Nightstalker Cloven Hoof issued their debut vinyl 12" EP The Opening Ritual on Elemental Music in 1982 (today a precious collector's item). In 1984, the self-titled Cloven Hoof album was released, followed by Fighting Back (1986), Dominator (1988) and A Sultan's Ransom (1989). After splitting up in the 1990s, Cloven Hoof returned with a new line up in the 2000s.

Resist Or Serve from 2014 is now followed by the band's brand new studio album Who Mourns For The Morning Star?. Lee Payne added some new blood to the Cloven Hoof line-up with American citizens George Call (on lead vocals) and Danny White (on drums), both formerly playing with Aska, being the new guys. Lee Payne has the full story: "I first met the guys when we were both on the bill to play Keep Lt True festival in Germany. George and Danny were in a great band called Aska and they were on stage just before us. I had been doing interviews for most the morning so I thought there was just time to catch the group on just before us. Initially I wanted to hear what the sound out front was like but when I heard the vocalist, I was totally blown away! All my life I had a vision in my head what I wanted Cloven Hoof to sound like.
Musically we had come close but I was never 100% happy with the vocalist. In the past sure we had some great singers the best probably being Matt Moreton on reflection, but still I was after a certain Dio/Halford delivery. Imagine the shock I got hearing George in full voice looking great... and he was playing a mean rhythm guitar too! The drummer was excellent and he kept time like a human metronome, another problem area we had throughout the years. These two were the missing pieces to the jigsaw that I had been after all my career, but how could I entice them to play in my band? After I saw Mr Call and Mr White I would never be satisfied with the musicians I had at the time, they sounded very sub standard compared the the Aska musicians certainly. As coincidence would have it whilst getting changed for our set this guy came into our dressing room asking could he speak to Lee Payne? He said he was our biggest fan and he wanted some albums signed. It was none other than the killer singer I had just been watching! We hit it off right away! At the end of the festival we agreed one day we would work together when the time was right. Well, now that day has arrived at long last and we are going to make the most of it!"

Musically, Who Mourns For The Morning Star? carries on where Resist Or Serve has left off. According to Lee Payne, the 2014 album was well received: "We got some fantastic reviews and the fans loved the album, but we became victims of our own success, I guess. Unbeknown to the rest of the band, Joe, the singer, had auditioned for that crummy TV show 'The X-Factor' and Judas Priest management decided that he should have a solo career away from playing Heavy Metal. I couldn't understand that decision as Joe was Metal through and through but they convinced him he would make more money. We played superb gigs with him in the band like Sweden Rock, however, with a big-time management company like that influencing him he decided to concentrate on a mainstream market along with our ex -drummer Jake. Luke, Chris and myself wish them all the luck in the world of course but we put Heavy Metal and Cloven Hoof first ...always! To try and keep the unit together we even played as backing band for him, but it was a losing battle really. Joe was a simply awesome guitar player and he never really wanted to be the singer but he stepped up to the plate brilliantly. He raised the bar vocally on Resist Or Serve and only Matt came near his performance on that record. Deliverance and Brimstone And Fire were superb. Shame Joe ever got involved with that show and other people telling him what to do. Even though we lost two great musicians because of different agendas we all still remain great friends."
"I think the addition of George and Danny has refined our sound and made it more polished and hard hitting"
, remarks Lee Payne asked for the main differences between Resist Or Serve and Who Mourns For The Morning Star?. "American bands do seem to be tighter and more professional than anywhere else in the world. European bands tend to be raw and more aggressive, so we have combined those elements with our Anglo-American unit. We have synthesised the best of both worlds and can now offer a product of truly world class status. Who Mourns For The Morning Star? combines all the best qualities of the trademark Cloven Hoof sound but it is played better and the vocal delivery is off the scale. The full band width of the band is explored and there are epic tracks next to more hard hitting numbers that build and cover a whole spectrum of moods and atmospheres. There is no pro tools cheating involved either so it is a real band playing tight but loose. On Resist Or Serve we were very conscious of playing tight because other bands were using click tracks and triggered drums, but on the new album we said to hell with it and Danny sets the groove and tempo playing drums in the traditional way. We are back to basics playing from the heart and it shows. Every song is different and yet somehow fits together. We seems to show where we have come from musically and pave the way for a future direction. It is a very exciting release and I'm positive the fans will agree it is our best ever album." The opening track Star Rider structurally and stylistically reminds me a bit of Priest's Starbreaker. Was that done intentionally? "Wow that is a great compliment, my friend", says Lee Payne. "As long as we get compared to a brilliant band like Priest then we are doing something right. Star Rider explores the X-files notion of 'are there aliens out there and are they amongst us now?' No one really knows for certain but it sure is fun to imagine they exist. Are people really abducted for experiments? Did they once build the pyramids back in antiquity? The truth is out there!" Cloven Hoof have always been some kind of atypical NWOBHM band. I think this continues on Who Mourns For The Morning Star? because the nine tracks show influences of epic Metal, Speed Metal, Melodic Metal and even Progressive Metal. "I agree we have dug deep explored all facets of our musical identity on Who Mourns For The Morning Star?", explains Lee Payne. "No one can ever say we keep on recycling the same three chord trick. Cloven Hoof is forever expanding its musical aspirations and no two songs will ever be the same, I promise. Hopefully there is something for everybody on our albums because stylistically we are a very broad church within a heavy metal framework."

The sound of the album is probably more European or American than British, could that be true? "A very good point", beams Lee Payne. "When we played Hard Rock Hell, a well respected writer said were were not strictly British sounding because our music was not blues based Hard Rock. We stood apart from many N.W.O.B.H.M bands because our sound is undiluted Heavy Metal fused with Prog Rock type multi time changes. Cloven Hoof originally hail from the West Midlands at the heart of England, a region that many say gave birth to Heavy Metal. Funny how some think the blues based Hard Rock approach sounds more British. Why is that? Sabbath are from the same neck of the woods where I grew up, so that location must infuse our music with a certain inherent sound. You cannot ignore your roots and the Black Country has produced some great musicians. I am proud to have been born there. Power Metal is classed as primarily belonging to the European Metal market. We seem to be pioneers in this genre because we play fast epic Metal. Cloven Hoof have an aggressive raw edge to our sound that is favoured by American Thrash bands so we fit in well with that genre too. So I completely understand your take on the aforementioned question. Cloven Hoof are now comprised of English and American band members, so we will sound even less quintessentially British, I suppose. But in truth Heavy Metal defies boundaries and nationalities anyway."

A song such as Song Of Orpheus would have probably not sounded out of place on a record by Crimson Glory. "That too is a great compliment", smiles Lee Payne, "because Crimson Glory were a brilliant band. I loved their debut album and Transcendence, Midnight, the singer, was reminiscent of Geoff Tate at times. They had a majestic delivery and are not a million miles from our sound. Orpheus is a love song really, that has the hero willing to sacrifice any thing to get his beloved back. Even from the realm of death itself. This is the case in the Greek mythology legend too, love is an all consuming powerful emotion that will drive a human being to take any risk in its name. It has a great chorus that the fans will hopefully sing along when we play it live."

Lyrically, I reckon the album once again deals with space, mysticism, occultism, paganism, but it's not a concept album, or is it? "No it's not a concept album", explains the Cloven Hoof main man. "But you are right about the space, mysticism, occultism, paganism aspect. We have our own unique brand of metal music and it wouldn't be a Hoof record without that particular subject matter, would it? I love all those genres they are so imaginative and evocative. Reality is such a boring mundane topic. I always thought fantasy provided the best scope for songs. I feel strangely disappointed with true life somehow. 'The world is not enough' as the saying goes and in an infinite cosmos, it is great to imagine somewhere out there in a galaxy far far away, seemingly impossible things could happen and exist!"

I Talk To The Dead sounds very haunting. "It is one of my favourite tracks on the album", confesses Lee Payne, "about necromancy and reanimating corpses. What if the dead still had consciousness floating in the great beyond and necromancers could talk to the deceased. How incredible would it be, if they could bring a cadaver back to do their bidding? This notion made the hairs stand out on the back of my neck, so I had to put it down in a song. George does a brilliant Gandalf-type of voiceover near the end that is inspired. He takes an idea to the next level and makes everything sound believable. Mr Call acts out lyrics perfectly, he doesn't just sing a song... he lives it!" Neon Angels does feature different layers of background vocals... I get the impression that the vocal performance on Who Mourns For The Morning Star? is central for the album. "Yes, George has a world class voice and range", states Lee Payne. "And I want to utilise it fully with the scope of our music. It was integral that George joined the band to do the new songs justice. In fact everyone plays great on this record, Luke's solo's are amazing. Chris Coss is now officially the 2nd longest serving member of Cloven Hoof and I am very honoured and privileged to work with such talented musicians, they are great human beings too. So life is real good right now. Neon Angels was written to be a bikers song, something you can play when heading down the highway and sing along with us at live shows. It makes me feel good every time I listen to it, and I play it in my car a hell of a lot."

Morning Star itself is a rather soft song, maybe even a (semi) ballad? Cloven Hoof is one of the very few (NWOBHM) bands that attempt to write 'ballads', and succeed in making them not sound wimpy... There are two other bands possessing this rare gift: again, Judas Priest and The Scorpions (up until Blackout). "Priest and The Scorpions are masters of their craft", agrees Lee Payne. "To give light and shade to a song you must get the right balance so that a song builds. Soft passages can help create a certain atmosphere and makes the heavy part seem more dramatic and heavier when it eventually comes in. I love to do that and on tracks like Mistress of the Forest for instance, it proves the right dynamics can enhance a song greatly. Morning Star is a story with a beginning middle and an end so I have tried to reflect that with musical passages and movements. The story of Lucifer's fall from grace after being God's most exalted angel is a powerful one. Having an eye for the celestial top job as it were, is a human frailty. Many can identify and have empathy with that, but the all father deemed it punishable with everlasting banishment from heaven. A little harsh, don't you think? No forgiveness for daring to be adored as the most beautiful angel? Is vanity the greatest crime in creation? Surely a supreme being could show compassion at some point... not so for Lucifer Morning Star, doomed to rule the worst place in the cosmos. I see the devil in all this as a jailer who has to meet out punishment, nothing more. There is something heroic in this hapless fate somehow. Throughout the track I am trying to tell the story from the devil's perspective of how he wants absolution and return to heaven to take his rightful place. When he doesn't get it from a vengeful God he gives in and curses him. Hope everyone enjoys it!"

Time To Burn is much more up tempo and again sounds like classic Priest (circa Screaming For Vengeance) "A killer album that Rob Halford gave me when he invited me to a local radio station where he was doing an interview", adds Lee Payne. "It hadn't been released at the time and I loved it from the second I put it on the turn table. I thought Electric Eye sounded a bit like our Reach For The Sky that I played Rob from a demo tape we had recorded about a year before Screaming For Vengeance came out. Maybe our style is close because Priest, like Sabbath, are from the same area. Holy Joe's is a rehearsal place that they used when they were starting out and we did too. We even have our stencilled logos on the same part of the wall. Rob helped us a lot getting us our first radio plays by taking in demo tapes. Robert Plant did the same thing for us and he too used to rehearse at Holy Joe's back in the day. Time To Burn is fast furious and apocalyptic, a natural set opener."

Good to play it live in Germany and Belgium later this year. Should get the crowd going crazy right from the start.

Is it true to say that Laying Down The Law was Cloven Hoof's biggest 'hit' so far? Were you ever tempted to re-visit the songwriting formula of Laying Down The Law, in search for another signature song or 'hit'..? "There is a danger of that when any song becomes more popular than others", reflects Lee Payne. "Managers and business people put pressure on you to go in search of a radio friendly hit. Some bands build a career playing 20 versions of the same song because they think it will make them more bucks. When a track naturally evolves and the hook line is catchy and makes you more accessible, then that is OK. But the truth is there is no magic formula really, no one really knows what the public will latch on to or everyone would be doing it. I prefer to not be contrived and never consciously try to make one song sound like another. Laying Down The Law was always a crowd pleaser right from day one and many bands have covered it. It is commercial but still tough sounding, I was only 18 when I wrote that. Still sounds as good today as it did then, the proof of a good track." Bannockburn does seem to refer to Scotland, and Scottish history? Do you have a (personal) connection to Scotland at all? Being more than 7 minutes long, Bannockburn is closing off this mighty fine record in epic style! "I do have family in Scotland a few uncles, aunts and cousinsquot;, explains Lee Payne. "I love the Scottish fans in particular and I wrote this especially for them. Jamie Bruce and a band of die hard metallers turned out to cheer us on at a venue one night and he said being as the song Road Of Eagles was an epic about war, why don't you write one about the mighty Bruce. Robert the Bruce was one of the great heroes of Scotland. He defeated the English King Edward II at the famous battle of Bannockburn. Rising up from oppression is something I identify with and this subject matter seemed the perfect Cloven Hoof vehicle. I wanted it to be an anthem for Scotland and freedom. I hope the fans like it half as much as our drummer Danny, he loves that song big time."

Spinefarm Records / AIRBOURNE have new blood, a new single and new shows
Posted by: Denis / 21.04.2017
AIRBOURNE are pleased to confirm that guitarist and their longtime staunch mate Matt 'Harri' Harrison has now joined their ranks; this comes in the wake of longstanding band member David Roads' decision to depart the world of rock 'n' roll for (quite literally) green pastures...

David has been a part of the ever-growing Airbourne story across four studio albums and extensive global touring, helping to establish the band (formed by brothers Joel & Ryan O'Keeffe in Warrnambool, Regional Victoria Australia 2003, and completed by bassist Justin Street) as one of the Hard Rock domain's most potent live outfits – a true force of nature with latest album, Breakin' Outta Hell, released by Spinefarm Records in September 2016, achieving their highest ever week-one chart positions worldwide.

"Roadsy has always loved rural Australia, his second passion being his family farm, and now he has decided to return to his roots to work alongside his father in the family business. We wish him well on his future endeavors.
As the old saying goes, 'you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy'. We say, good on ya mate, well-played and good luck!
Now to the future, and it’s all guns blazing foot to the floor! In the coming months, we look forward to introducing you to our new Airbourne brother, he's our long time staunch mate Harri 'The Riff Doctor' Harrison. Cheers and see ya soon rockers!"

Power/neoclassical Metal band Mastercastle have released a lyric video for the song Drink Of Me, the first single and opening track of the band's new album Wine Of Heaven, which will be released on May 19th on Scarlet Records.

Founded in 2008 by guitarist Pier Gonella (Necrodeath) and vocalist Giorgia Gueglio, Mastercastle soon became one of the leading forces in the European Power/neoclassical Metal scene, thanks to an addictive mix of strong riffs, virtuoso guitar solos and captivating female vocals, developed through each of their four, critically acclaimed albums.

Wine Of Heaven has been described by singer Giorgia Gueglio as "a journey through the aroma of the 'Nectar of the Gods', wandering among the meanderings of the mind, discovering the flavor of life, loneliness and passion". Recorded at MusicArt studio, this new album is characterized by a very dark mood, very low tunings and the constant and innovative use of keyboards, produced by Gonella himself, giving to the songs an avantgarde edge and compelling sound.

Pride & Joy Music / EMPIRE release audio video for "One In A Million" from the 'Trading Souls' album
Posted by: Denis / 21.04.2017
EMPIRE just released an audio video for the track One In A Million from the album Trading Souls which will be released on May 26th, 2017.

EMPIRE is the Hard Rock band of German guitarist Rolf Munkes (ex Majesty, ex Razorback, Crematory) which has released four exceptional albums in between the years of 2001 and 2007. On these releases, Munkes was accompanied by numerous high-class musicians.

The history of EMPIRE began in the year 2001 with the release of the album Hypnotica (Lion Music) which featured both the American singers Mark Boals (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) and Lance King (ex Nightmare) on vocals. The line-up at the time was completed by Neil Murray (bass, ex Whitesnake, Brian May Band, Black Sabbath etc.), Gerald Klos (drums), Anders Johansson (drums, ex Stratovarius) and Don Airey (keyboards, ex Rainbow, Deep Purple). Rolf Munkes produced Hypnotica himself; the mix was handled by Stefan Kaufmann (ex Accept, ex U.D.O.).

Only one year later, Trading Souls, the band's second album came out on Lion Music. The CD once again was produced by Munkes with the mix being handled by Kaufmann. On this release, singer extraordinare Tony Martin (ex Black Sabbath) replaced King and Martin on the vocal spot.

Tony Martin also sang on the – up until now – most successful CD from EMPIRE, The Rave Ride, which was released in 2006 on German label Metal Heaven. Besides of Munkes, who, for the first also produced and mixed this release himself at his own Empire Studios in Bensheim, Germany, Neil Murray took again care of the bass work whilst the drums this time were handled by ex-Rage/ex-Axxis drummer André Hilgers.
In 2007, the so far last album of EMPIRE saw the light of day. Chasing Shadows was once again released on Metal Heaven and the first record feat. former Rainbow singer Doogie White in the line-up. Mike Terrana (ex Rage, ex Axel Rudi Pell, Tarja Turunen) joined the group on drums.

In 2017, German label Pride & Joy Music will re-issue all four releases in a revised version. Trading Souls which will be released on May 26th, 2017.

Nuclear Blast / ENSLAVED enter the studio again
Posted by: Denis / 21.04.2017
It's been over two years since the release of critically acclaimed album In Times, and now Norway's Progressive Metal legends ENSLAVED have entered the studio again to record their 14th, yet untitled full-length release. Aiming for both wilder and yet more Progressive and melodic horizons, the band who celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, never ceases to surprise and challenge their fans; they will once again step up to the plate. The recordings are taking place at Duper & Solslottet Studios in Bergen throughout April, and will be mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios. With its epic touch, the album promises to be original and refreshing - and to contain some surprising new elements.

"It is absolutely fantastic to be in the studio with these new songs", states mastermind Ivar Bjørnson. "So many doors were opened with In Times and the times (sic) that followed; for us as a band, for me as a composer and I guess for us all on a personal level. I have never worked this hard to put together music for an album before, and that intensity continues into the studio where everybody is giving their everything, every hour of every day. We are a tighter unit than ever before, which is obvious sonically. The concept conjured by myself and old war-brother Grutle is the strongest we have worked with. Finally, I am proud that we have taken more risks than ever before, and one in particular - and it is yielding awesome results. What does that mean? Stay tuned to find out!"

The eye-catching cover and artwork is once again being currently created by renowned designer and painter Truls Espedal.

Napalm Records / SEVEN KINGDOMS release music video for 'Stargazer'
Posted by: Denis / 20.04.2017
'A fire must burn!' That's the spirit of Power Metal's finest SEVEN KINGDOMS while blazing a wild passion through every millisecond of their monstrous music. Welcome Decennium, their furious 10th band anniversary – out on May 5th worldwide via Napalm Records.

Be sure: SEVEN KINGDOMS' fast'n'heavy Thrash and Power Metal is always up-tempo, fierce and epic. Songstress Sabrina Valentine sings with full force and her charismatic voice flirts insanely with heavy twin guitars. This much is certain: These Floridian whirlwinds made their mark in the holy world of metal already!

See it for yourself with the new music video for the track Stargazer.

The band commented on the track & story behind Stargazer: "This was one of the first songs to come together on Decennium. Like many of the songs, this was originally a different concept that morphed into what it is. I have always been fascinated by Space and the idea that there is more out there that we do not understand. The song tackles the ideas of what lies beyond, and asks the questions that we all want to know. There was a scene in one of the more recent Star Trek movies where they were flying into a Volcano to save a primitive civilization from extinction. They accidentally got 'seen' by the tribe, and because of their lack of understanding, they essentially started drawing the shapes of the USS Enterprise in the sand as if to document history. This concept could apply to real life with Ancient Cave Paintings and the whole Ancient Alien stuff. To me its fascinating! Being a Sci-Fi fan, this is a thought that has always been in my head. What if we are that civilization? What if our ancestors experienced the same thing? We actually don't really know... until then we should 'question the unknown' and continue driving humanity forward, eventually into the stars..."

The old school Metal band BLAZING RUST from St. Petersburg has signed a worldwide deal with PURE STEEL RECORDS. The Band will release their album Armed To Exist on 28th July 2017 via PURE STEEL RECORDS.

The band was formed in November 2014 and consists of former and current members of well-known Russian Metal acts, such as Pyre, Drama, Ulvdalir, Internal Damage, Grenouer. Having their own tinge and vision without limiting themselves to the rigid frameworks, Blazing Rust pay homage to real heavy metal gods such as DIO, JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH, DIAMOND HEAD etc.

Bandstatment, Roman Dovzhenko: "We are so excited about the fact that this album is coming out finally! An extensive work on all the production of our first full-length was carried out perfectly. We knew what we want and what we need and i believe we've achieved that! I'm happy with the results and I'm sure that nobody of you Metal brothers-in-arms will be disappointed!"
Igor Arbuzov: "Making Armed to Exist album had been a huge fun for me as I received a big amount of creative freedom and support from the band. We realized very soon how close we are musically and mentally. In my opinion our album is not just an imitation of the most popular 80s music genre. It's a great collection of tracks that won't leave any Heavy Metal fan indifferent. They can be fast and mid-tempo, rough, aggressive and melodic at the same time - everything you expect from classic Metal. Armed to Exist is a statement from the younger generation of musicians that says: 'We're ready to carry the flag of Heavy Metal!'!"

Nuclear Blast / ACCEPT announce new album "The Rise Of Chaos" and special Wacken show
Posted by: Denis / 18.04.2017
Heavy Metal pioneers ACCEPT just finished an extensive European tour - and they are immediately back in the game with a new studio album! The record entitled The Rise Of Chaos, will be unleashed on August 4th, 2017. The band's 4th studio release through Nuclear Blast will continue the tradition of its three predecessors - Blood Of The Nations, Stalingrad, Blind Rage - with grandeur and precision.

And if this wasn't enough, ACCEPT will celebrate the album's live premiere exclusively on August 3rd, on the day before its release, as a part of a special show at Wacken Open Air, Germany. The set will consist of three parts, which represent the band's creative power:
  • Part 1 will bring fans a classic ACCEPT set, packed with new and old hits.
  • Part 2 will present another premiere: Wolf Hoffmann will be playing tracks from his solo album Headbangers Symphony, released in 2016, with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for the very first time. On this record, Wolf has covered famous opuses by composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi, and Mozart, in a Metal guise.
  • And in Part 3, all elements can be seen and heard together: ACCEPT will make the holy Wacken ground shake by sharing the stage with the orchestra, supported by a complex multimedia show.
This unique concert experience will take place on this year's 'Night To Remember' which makes it even more special. The 'Night To Remember' is a celebrated, long-lasting Wacken tradition; for one night of the festival a selection of established bands will do something unique and special with their performance.

Wolf Hoffmann stated: "It's always impressive to see how bands take this evening seriously and how much love the artists and the organising team put into their work to get a varied result. It's a great tradition which underlines and documents the top-notch level of the international Rock community like nothing else. We also want to present something that ACCEPT has never done before, we hope we can give something really special to the fans."

"ACCEPT have been and are still a very important part of Germany's Heavy Metal scene. We're really looking forward to having them with us once more. With this epic concept, the Thursday evening will be one to remember for sure," stated Thomas Jensen, organiser of Wacken Open Air.

High Roller Records / HELLWELL - Behind the Demon's Eyes
Posted by: Denis / 14.04.2017
Without the shadow of a doubt Mark 'The Shark' Shelton is one of the most creative Metal musicians of all time. At the same time he is one of the most underrated visionaries of the genre. He formed US Metal legends Manilla Road back in 1977. The debut album Invasion was issued via their own record label Roadster in 1980. Throughout the 1980s Manilla Road records were virtually ignored by the media. Only a few knowing fans (and dedicated fanzines) who adored the band's unique style of epic metal kept the flame alive, paving the way for the band's astonishing rise to fame in the new millennium.

Now Mark Shelton presents his second official solo project outside of Manilla Road (if you discount 'Circus Maximus', which was planned as a solo project but due to record company pressure was released under the Manilla Road moniker). Hellwell's Behind The Demon's Eyes follows 2012's debut Beyond The Boundaries Of Sin.

"The first thing that is really different if you compare the first to the second Hellwell album", states the legendary Mark Shelton, "is that Randy Thrasher Foxe (of Manilla Road fame) is now the drummer for the band and he delivers a great performance on Behind The Demon's Eyes. The themes and concepts are still coming from the same sort of Gothic horror, except this time there is a little more of a science fiction angle to it at times. The music is more polished than the first album and a lot of the material is more technical and even progressive one might say. I'm really proud of this album and the performances on it, as well as the compositions themselves."

If you listen to the album carefully, it might occur to you that the keyboards and synthesizers are not that prominent on Behind The Demon's Eyes in comparison to Beyond The Boundaries Of Sin. And furthermore, the 1970s Hard Rock feel does not seem to be that dominating, songs such as Necromantio do feature some more upbeat parts as well... Mark Shelton explains in detail: "We were not really trying to maintain a 1970s sound to the project or the band. The idea is to fuse different styles of Metal and Rock together that support the atmosphere of the concepts and stories within the album. Behind The Demon's Eyes seems to be a little heavier than our first effort but at the same time the arrangements and songs themselves are a little more sophisticated… I guess that would be the correct word for it. As for the amount of keyboard or synthesizer parts, I think there is still a lot on the album. We only use the keys and synthesizers when we think it is appropriate. I know there was a lot of pipe organ stuff going on in this one. Especially in the songs that were really Gothic or Classic horror type themes. It's all just a matter of what sounds cool to us."

All in all, this could lead to getting the impression that Behind The Demon's Eyes is much closer to Manilla Road in style than Hellwell's debut album... What made Mark decide that the six songs on the new album would not fit into the Manilla Road framework at all..? "I can see why you get that impression from some of this material", he says. "With Randy playing on this one, sometimes it sounds to me like stuff that could have easily been on an album such as Out Of The Abyss. It really was not a matter of thinking that these songs would not fit with Manilla Road as much as it was just writing and creating these songs for Hellwell. None of these songs were ever considered for the new Manilla Road album. The thought never even crossed my mind because the new Manilla Road album already had a life of its own and a direction that had nothing to do with the songs that I had written for Behind The Demon's Eyes. Every once in a while a song will slip from one project to another, but it is rare. For example, the song Deadly Nightshade on the first Hellwell album was originally written for Manilla Road and the Playground Of The Damned album but Corey never came up with a drum part for it and it did not make it on that album. Some time later Johnny Benson (drummer on the first Hellwell release) heard the song and came up with a killer drum part for it and so we added keyboard parts and suddenly it became a Hellwell song. But all the songs on the new album were written specifically for this project."

"It's not a concept album", elaborates Mark Shelton on the lyrical content of Behind The Demon's Eyes, "except for the fact that all the stories are horror stories in nature. Even the more modern, almost science fiction themes are still very rooted in classic horror. It is an album of several stories ranging from ghostly things to cannibalistic behaviour, human sacrifice, black magik of the occult, demons from other dimensions, aliens and even a song about Victor Frankenstein. It's a collage of tales in which there are no happy endings."

Once more, the cover artwork is absolutely brilliant, who was responsible for it? "Paolo Girardi is the artist", says Mark Shelton. "He also did our last Manilla Road album cover painting for The Blessed Curse. He is from Italy and a really close friend of mine for about 16 years. What I really like about Paolo is that he is a traditional artist that uses oil painting on canvas, like the old masters did. No computer imagery in his stuff and that just makes it so much more humanistic for me. There are some things that a computer still cannot do and art like that is one of those things. Paolo is simply an amazing artist."

By the way, does Mark think that Hellwell would ever develop into a touring band? "Hellwell has never played a single live show", is his straight answer. "We put the group together thinking of it as a studio project band only and so far we have stuck to that. I suppose it is possible that it could turn into a live touring band if the demand for such a thing would come to pass. But Manilla Road will always be my first and foremost ambition and we have a lot of touring ahead of us with Manilla Road, so I don't think a Hellwell tour will be happening any time soon."

So it does seem pretty unlikely that Mark is planning to realize any more side projects (like Chris Black of High Spirits). Or would that be an option? Mark Shelton: "I actually still have at least one other project up my sleeve for the future but that will be announced in due time. Right now I am working on the next Manilla Road album. I might even put another solo project out but this time it will not be an all acoustic album."

On the song It's Alive it seems as if the Hellwell singer does experiment with his voice quite a bit. Somehow this reminds me a little bit of Crystal Logic, which was a very versatile album as well, especially in the vocal department... "Thanks for the kind words", he says. "I try to approach the Hellwell material a little differently than I do everything else. There is a little more death metal style at times but I can never get completely away from melodic vocals and harmonies. I can experiment with the Hellwell vocal parts a little more than usual because of not having to worry about singing the parts live. It's a whole different thing to have to sing and play guitar at the same time and since I don't have to worry about that for live with this music, I can be a little more inventive with the vocal and guitar parts."

The Galaxy Being has some really insane sound effects (especially at the beginning), sounding as if paying tribute to 1950s/60s science fiction/horror B-movies, creating a very haunting atmosphere, frightening stuff... "You have all of that totally correct", Mark Shelton smiles. "That is exactly what we were after with the intro and ending of that song. Glad to see that it worked, ha, ha. I'm a huge fan of old science fiction and horror from all time frames but the stuff that came out in the 1950s and 1960s was especially influential to me because that was when I was growing up and the Saturday movie matinees were only .25 cents for a triple feature. We used to go to the drive-in theatres every weekend watching many a B-movie. I still go back and watch those movies and am still fascinated with the genre of fantasy, horror and science fiction. Much of what was science fiction to us back then is now science fact today. Sorry. I was rambling, he, he. Back to the point – the soundtracks from those movies are incredible cool if you ask me. Such great weird and eerie sounds they came up with back then. And if you think of the equipment they were using. Well, back then you had Foley Artists instead of digital sound samples. They didn't have all-in-one synthesizers like today and yet they came up with some great sounds and effects. It is sort of a tribute, as is a lot of the music on the album. That is a tribute to the whole of the horror and science fiction genre of entertainment."

The Last Rites Of Edward Hawthorn is over 13 minutes long, an epic Metal Prog monster, again very emotional, dramatic and full of dynamics... How does the Hellwell boss compose such a song? On the guitar, on the piano, keyboards, computer? "With that song it started with piano", reveals Mark Shelton, "which is what turned into the first section of the song. Then my son wrote the music for the second passage in the song. He wrote that on guitar. If I remember correctly, he wrote it on a six string acoustic and then played it on electric on the album. The third and heaviest part of the song I wrote on guitar. The arrangements for the keyboard parts and bass parts, drums and vocals were all created after the initial rhythm tracks. Most generally, I will write the songs using guitar but with Hellwell sometimes the keyboard parts come first in the creation of the song. For example, the big Heavy Doom section of the song To Serve Man was thought of on keyboards by me first and then the guitar part sort of came to me while I was messing around on the keys. You just never can tell what will happen if you experiment and play around, giving things like that a chance to come out of you. That is why I love having my own studio and having the time to chill out and get creative with it."

Was writing Behind The Demon's Eyes a team effort or more like a Mark Shelton solo project under the banner of Hellwell? The Shark says: "I guess this one was more of a Shelton idea than a group effort when it comes to the actual writing of the music and lyrics but it was all of us, including the second engineer in our studio, Derek (Dr. Doom) Brubaker, that came up with the topic ideas and the overall approach to the project. In that manner, it was a team effort. Also the drums were done in a different studio than mine, so you had others involved in the creation process at that studio also. I sort of took control of writing all the songs on this one, except for the help I got from my son on The Last Rites of Edward Hawthorn. I started working on this album directly after finishing the first Hellwell album Beyond The Boundaries Of Sin. I had a pretty good idea in my head what direction I wanted the next album to sound like. I wanted to expand on the atmospheric and mystical sound possibilities but at the same time I was hearing great doom-laden sections of epic majesty and super heavy sections with near thrash intensity. All this was already swirling around in my head and I think because I already had a direction musically with the first ideas for the album, everyone just let me run with the ball. It was a great feeling when we finished the final mixes on this one. I had a lot of fun working with all the guys involved in this project and I'm totally proud of the outcome of the music, performances and art. It's a sweet package with some of my best progressive epic horror Doom Metal, ha, ha. 'Up The Hammers & for sure Down The Nails'."
High Roller Records / INFERNAL MAJESTY - No God
Posted by: Denis / 14.04.2017
It's been a long wait, and it is finally over: Canadian Thrash Metal masters Infernäl Mäjesty are at last presenting the world with a brand new full-length album. No God is their fourth LP, and the first to come out in thirteen years. Singer and band mastermind Chris Bailey is more than excited about the release: "We are seriously feeling awesome. When your hard work, thoughts and ideas finally come together into reality it's a great feeling but we have a lot of work still to do". He then tries to give a short summary of what has happened in the Infernäl camp since the first release of their last album One Who Points to Death in 2004: "When I get asked this my brain freezes because I don't know where to start. As you can imagine much has gone on. A lot of soul searching, dealing with personal demons, member changes, death and destruction. All will be revealed in the book I'm writing on our history. Sure to become a movie. There are many more chapters yet to be played out before I begin the final cut."

Infernäl Mäjesty are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2017 and the band have a lot in the works to celebrate that special date. Chris tells us what it is they're planning: "We couldn't be more stoked to be working with High Roller Records as part of our 30th anniversary. We have been celebrating since the new year began. We have lots planned including two more album re-releases, a guitar giveaway later this year and some major news concerning touring." Doesn't sound bad at all! But let's get back to the new album now: What were Infernäl Mäjesty's goal for the new album, and does Chris think they've met them?

"We have slowly but surely been reaching our goals that we set out to achieve when we embarked on our newest journey. We wanted to write a good album with good lyrics that weren't just fluff. There is a purpose and insight to go with a heavy thrash attack on the senses. That was our main goal. We put a lot into No God but it will be up to our fans to decide. If they like it, then we achieved our goal."

While many bands start out with a 'we just want to play what comes to our minds'-attitude, Infernäl Mäjesty have had a different approach from the very beginning: "We have always been critical when writing our music. Our approach hasn't changed but our level of insight and breadth of knowledge has increased ten fold. As society changes so do we, often as an observer and orator. The dark side is our muse." No God is a strong and uncompromising title in itself, and looking at the song titles, it seems as if the absence of God is a topic that runs through the whole album. Chris explains the thoughts behind it: "We were focused on this message of truth from the beginning. It's important we feel to help the future of human kind. There is no God of the bible and if by chance there was a force of nature that displayed what seemed to us humans as supernatural, then it will be contained and identified by science. Much like how we are unravelling the mysteries of Dark Matter. Religion is destroying this planet as is bad journalism and a public unable to decipher fact from fiction."

Once again, Infernäl Mäjesty went through some line-up changes before the new album was recorded: Eric Dubreuil (bass) and Kris DeBoer (drums) left and were replaced with two new members. Some people may know new drummer Kiel Wilson from his time with Canadian Melodic Death Metal outfit Severed Serenity. "Kiel has been a friend of the band for years. He was playing for us back in the early days when Chey left shortly after our arrival in Vancouver. We kept in contact as he stayed active writing and playing music. It was great timing when we approached Kiel to be our new fulltime drummer. Without hesitation he was ready to come back, this time to take the helm on drums." And what about Daniel Nargang, the new bassist? Isn't he actually the singer of the classic Heavy Metal outfit Kick Axe? "You bet and still is. This is without a doubt the strongest we have been. Dan is one of the great talents that we are honoured to have on board. We have no missing pieces now. No weak links." That said, it is no big surprise that Kiel and Daniel played an important role in the creation of No God: "The album wouldn't be out yet if it weren't for Kiel's and Dan's contribution creating the foundation for No God. Working with Kiel shaping the drums for the songs was amazing. You can also look forward to hearing Dan's contribution on False Flag, the intro for Nation Of Assassins. When everyone is on the same page in spirit and in mindset you can feel the energy come out in the music." Absolutely. And what about the more technical details? "We wrote the album in Vancouver over a three year period. We had a lot of other band related things on the go as well during this time that overlapped that normally wouldn't be on our plate while writing an album but we literally started from scratch. Reborn like the Phoenix. For example, putting together everything to record an album ourselves was a huge challenge that we are proud to have conquered."

No God sounds amazing, it is heavy and dark, crisp and powerful. Who was involved in the production process, apart from the band? "Well, it took a year to capture the sound of this album. We really worked on it day and night. Tweaking and modifying and receiving 3am phone calls saying 'you got to hear this!'! Steve, Ken and I wrote and produced the album. We believe that it's the ultimate way to express the band. The powerful skills of Chris 'Hollywood' Holmes were called upon to take over the mixing and mastering operations. When we started to talk about my return to the band one of the things we discussed that we had to have mutual agreement on was to write, record and produce No God ourselves."

The two new songs House of War and False Flag were already released on a single – is that the reason why they didn't make it on the album? "As Steve, Ken and I were writing the songs for No God the one thing that never crossed our mind was worrying about how long a song should be. We weren't concerned about writing a song at any particular length for air play. So basically we wrote more songs then could fit on an album. House Of War and False Flag were going to be released regardless. Although now as I think about it, its all the more reason to get both the album and the 7 inch. ;-)"

The above mentioned House of War 7 inch reaped a lot of praise, with people being exalted about the savage combination of Death and Thrash and the impressive song writing. The same is true for No God and Chris really doesn't have any objections against this: "We appreciate that. It's truly how we wanted to excite our fans. As we are now almost finished writing the follow up to No God that we will have ready for release early in 2018, you will hear the same approach, only graduated to the next level of melodic cacophony that is uniquely Infernäl Mäjesty."

What development does Chris see when he looks at No God, both compared to the last effort One who points to Death and when looking at it as the last link in a chain that runs from None Shall Defy to No God? "It feels like we have come full circle and are now about to break free into orbit. It feels like a natural progression from One Who Points To Death. I personally believe No God to be our greatest works since None Shall Defy was created."

Infernäl Mäjesty have also released a video to House of War that deals with the horrors and the futility of all wars. According to the credits, this video was a complete DIY-endeavour, and Chris also got some family members involved: "My parents mean the world to me. Their support through good times and bad has kept me grounded. I owe everything to them. They volunteered without hesitation to act in a snow storm and abandoned ruins, covered in blood. They are our biggest fans. They are also appearing in the new No God video. Not just because they are my parents and they caught the acting bug, but because they are damn good actors. I also think its something special when a band creates their own videos, if they're good, then great. If they are not, just keep trying." There are definitely some great things about No God, and one of them is the beautifully sombre cover artwork. Chris lets us know who did this amazing piece: "The exquisite and incredibly gifted, professional independent artists, Safir & Rifas. Safir (Dorina Pantea) & Rifas (Diana Pantea). Originally titled 'Death Angel' or 'Fallen Angel'. Their art is breathtaking and will leave a lasting impression on you." Apart from that, the album will come with a great many of nice features: "It comes with a poster, a lyric sheet, and a heavy cardboard cover with some personal liner notes and thoughts from Steve, Kenny and me. My favourite feature is the Transparent Royal Blue custom vinyl." Any last words? Absolutely: "We hope you worship our newest offering coming out April 14th. There has been a lot of talk and hype about this and I believe No God will live up to it. We have our soul in these songs touched only by us and the forces of nature. If you have a missing feeling inside lately then give No God a listen. Take care everyone."

InsideOut Music / Jim Matheos announces debut album from Tuesday The Sky
Posted by: Denis / 14.04.2017
Jim Matheos, founding guitarist of legendary US Progressive metallers Fates Warning, has announced the release of the debut album from his new Ambient instrumental Rock project Tuesday The Sky. The first full-length album Drift is set for release on June 30th, 2017, and sees Matheos expanding the boundaries of his sound ever further.

Drift came together in the downtime between Fates Warning finishing Theories of Flight and the beginning of the touring cycle, enabling Matheos to explore a type of atmospheric and instrumental music you might not expect of him. He comments: "With this kind of music, it's a lot about creating a mood and letting that sink in and develop over long periods of time, as opposed to the more frenetic format of most Prog music." Taking cues from artists like Brian Eno, Boards Of Canada, Sigur Ros, Explosions In The Sky, he explores expansive textures and ambient electronica, as well as some of the most colossal riffs he has ever produced.

The album also features the talents of God Is An Astronaut's drummer Lloyd Hanney, who provides a rhythmic backbone that is at once punchy, precise and restrained when necessary. Other guests include long-time OSI collaborator and former Dream Theater member Kevin Moore who plays keys on two songs as well as Anna-Lynne Williams (Trespassers William, Lotte Kestner), who provides ethereal vocals (of the non-verbal kind) on two other songs.

What the future of this project holds and whether it will be taken out on the road is yet to be seen. Matheos comments: "It would be a challenge to bring this project but it is an interesting idea and one I would at least consider if there seems to be enough interest". What is sure though, is that Tuesday The Sky's debut is a bold, brave, creative and ultimately successful album from one of Rock's most underrated of musicians.

The album will be released as special edition CD, black LP + CD & digital download.

Vocalist John Knight had this to say about the lyrical meaning behind the new song:
"Lyrically the song describes the story of one person's dependency on medication, antipsychotic drugs, the decision whether to stop taking them and return to a natural state risking confusion and illness or to continue on, the side effects, the withdrawals, the risks. All overseen by the 'god like' Psychiatrist. Singer John Knight worked for many years within the Mental Health system at management level and witnessed how the clients saw and described their experiences, 'I spoke at length with a client about her feelings towards her medication and her Psychiatrist, she told me her Psychiatrist was 'like a God', someone who oversaw all the choices she made and controlled her life, it made an impression and I wrote this song that night, of course not every story is the same and medication plays a very important and useful part of people's life, it's not an anti-medication song at all, but about the conflict a person has, the internal battle... telling themselves 'I'm well now, I don't need these tablets' without realising they feel this way because the medication is working, the side effects both being on and withdrawing can be severe."

White Circles is a song with great progressive dynamics, light and shade, building to a frantic & blistering metallic end.
Frontiers Music / DGM - Passing Stages
Posted by: Denis / 12.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of DGM's first live album, entitled Passing Stages, on June 2nd.

DGM's last album (their eighth), The Passage was released in August 2016 and marked the culmination of almost 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 and has pushed the Italian band into the elite rankings of the international Progressive Metal scene. Over the years, DGM has managed to tour the world, taking part in some of the biggest and most celebrated metal festivals around the globe and sharing the stage with the likes of Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Avantasia, Scorpions, and many others.

With a bulletproof line-up comprised of producer/guitarist Simone Mularoni, singer Marco Basile, bassist Andrea Arcangeli, drummer Fabio Costantino, and keyboardist Emanuele Casali, DGM can now share their awesome musicianship and songwriting skills with all audiences via the release of this truly beautiful live release!

"Passing Stages is the best possible illustration of what DGM are capable of on a stage these days", says Simone Mularoni. "We put our hearts and souls into the making this one and managed to capture magical nights that we'll remember forever. In our career, Passing Stages will be a milestone in our discography and a great conclusion of the first decade of this line-up. Here's to the future."

Herein are captured two separate performances for fans to enjoy via audio on CD and MP3 and visually via DVD or Blu-Ray. The first show is the entire performance held in front of the inaugural Frontiers Metal Festival, in Trezzo Sull'Adda (Milano) on October 30, 2016 and has a set-list centered around the latest album, The Passage. "We wanted to show to the whole world how great the Italian fans are and how much we love to play in our home country, and we had the best occasion with the first edition of Frontiers Metal Festival", continues Simone. "With our last album, The Passage, I think we managed to reach an even bigger crowd and that particular day was really one of a kind... the best Italian live club, packed with fans, together with a lot of friends and a gig focused on the last album."

The second show captured sees the band in action at the ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA on September 11, 2014. The setlist shows an emphasis on the albums Frame and Momentum. "Our second time at ProgPower USA was an important step of the 'Momentum' tour and filming that evening was mandatory", explains Simone. "We felt the warmth of the crowd, we worked with fabulous technicians and with one of the best crews ever. The atmosphere pervading the Center Stage in Atlanta is unique and we did our best to honor this awesome festival with a performance at the top of our abilities. I'm pretty sure that whoever watches the concert will feel like being right in front of the stage singing with us."

This is an unmissable opportunity to witness the superb qualities of the Italian quintet in the live environment and also opens the door to newer fans (of which there are quite a few) to experience their excellent and older repertoire.

Thanks to a blistering debut on Svart Records and a reputation as one of the most energetic, exciting and downright headbangable live bands around, NIGHT VIPER is now a must see band for all metalhead.

After four European tours and unforgettable appearances at festivals such as Muskelrock, Roadburn and Hell Over Hamburg, they are now deadlier than ever.

The release of their new single Summon the Dead in March 2017 signifies a new level of intensity for them and will lead them to their second full length album to be released on Listenable records in Autumn 2017.

Pure Steel Records / CUSTARD 'A Realm Of Tales' cover, tracklist, release date: 19th May 2017
Posted by: Denis / 11.04.2017
The release date of the brand new album A Realm Of Tales by the German Power Metal band CUSTARD on CD is May 19th, 2017. The pre-order phase will start on May 5th, 2017 in label's webshop.

Since the beginning CUSTARD were a phenomena in Teutonic Steel. From 0 to 100 they bursted into the scene with great old school Heavy Metal songs. Of course a lot of bands play that style, but CUSTARD always made the 'more' in songwriting, power and melody.

Fortunately nothing has changed for CUSTARD these days. Vocalist Olli Strasser and his two guitarists Stefan Absorber and Carsten Reichart still find their own way to create great riffings and melodies based on the concrete of Chris Klapper and Markus Berghammer. The lyric themes vary from catchy to extraordinary and with small -yet precious- ingredients like Folky tunes along other little enrichments the songs get this special 'thing' to make it a must for fans of HELLOWEEN to JUDAS PRIEST. A Realm of Tales leave an overall statement: The masters are back!

Imperative PR / Maxdmyz - Alchemical Metal
Posted by: Denis / 07.04.2017
The sound of Maxdmyz has always been built upon the principle of absolute freedom. They follow no orders, defy all expectations and respect no rules but their own. Armed with their palette of endless colours these sonic rebels have produced music as eclectic as it is explosive. They have poured emotion into a heart of steel, crafting a music machine driven by love, hate, rage and joy, sadness, regret and hope. This band can deliver a hammer blow with an iron fist, bewitch your body into a pulsing dance or simply obliterate you in a wall of cyber noise. All of this and more can be found on their latest release, the beguiling, untameable, impossible to cage Alchemical Metal.

Alchemical Metal takes every element of the Maxdmyz live show that has enthralled crowds from London to New York and blends them into a quicksilver potion of magical intensity. The voice of front man Twister leads you into a labyrinth of sound, a maze of spine shattering blast beats, convulsing bass, shimmering synths and riffs like a war machine. You'll be enchanted and broken, raised up to dizzying heights of euphoria and crushed into the dirt of bitter, black despair. From a reason to live to down in the dirt, via hell...

How do you categorise a band like Maxdmyz? What genre tag do you tie to them? The truth is, that they simply will not be put in anyone else's box and the only name that fits is one of their own making – Alchemical Metal; the collision of science and sorcery, the transformation of the mundane to the magical, base metal into gold. It's time to try a new drug, take the path less travelled, leap into the dark and watch an array of colours explode around you. Live hard, live fast and feel every moment to the max. Alchemical Metal is here to take you on a new ride. Take a deep breath and hold on tight...

Other than that I pretty much gave him free hands to come up with his own vision. I knew he would surprise me in a good way. He is one of a kind. Unique. A true artist." And about the new album: "Deranged Patterns pretty much took off where the last one ended. The only difference is that the new songs have been injected with some serious steroids. It's full of blistering and bonecrushing riffs. It's heavy and raw. It's 'take no prisoners'. Once again we recorded the drums in the old fashioned way. No fucking pre recorded clicktrack guitars. Just me and Bob Ruben in the same room, finding the groove, the pace and getting it done. There is a lot more 'meat' in the guitar sound this time. Also the bass has more balls. I think the whole record has a lot more punch and a bigger sound to it than the last one. Many of the lyrics deal with how to cope and to stay sane in the almost surreal reality of a 'politically correct' World. It's about the inner war. The madness around. Blood and guts and all our beheaded dreams. It's fucking Thrash Metal!"

Frontiers Music / Jorn - Life on Death Road
Posted by: Denis / 07.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is delighted to announce the release of JORN's brand new studio album, entitled Life on Death Road on June 2, 2017.

Easily one of the greatest rock singers of the 21st century, Norway's very own giant Viking warrior Jorn Lande's vocals are resoundingly strong once again on his ninth original studio album, Life on Death Road! This absolutely brilliant new album sees Lande attacking the microphone with rejuvenated vigor, accompanied by a new band and a bigger and stronger sound.

Life On Death Road took several months of hard work for the songwriting vision to come together. Jorn needed to take the music to a new level to push the concept of the band further than it has ever gone before. The result is a record that is deep, strong, full of groove and powerful with anthemic songs aplenty! Songs like Man Of The 80's, Love Is The Remedy, Life On Death Road, Insoluble Maze (Dreams In The Blindness), The Slippery Slope (Hangman's Rope) capture the essence of Jorn as a singer, songwriter and lyricist.

Jorn says, "It's easily one of the best albums I've ever recorded. This was all about putting the right people together for the right result, and about taking the necessary time to work more thoroughly and in depth with the material we chose for the album. The older I get, the more I feel it is necessary to listen to my heart and look for that genuine and honest feeling that made me take interest in music in the first place. Back in the 70's and early 80's when I grew up, people and music were more free and so the presence of feeling and soul came more naturally and was expected from an artist or a band. This is the energy and craftmanship we've been looking for, but still keeping a pulse on the modern times we live in. Life On Death Road is an original album that is pretty much summing up the last 40-50 years of Rock and Metal and has become a hybrid modern heavy rock album without losing those tasty elements of a good aged wine. Regardless, we're all products of our time, and the feeling, soul and symbioses we've achieved for this album is a rarity in today's music world, so in that sense this album is a true old school sailors' 'tall ship adventure'. From start to finish it took us nearly three years to finalize and I'm really proud to say that this album is the proof that classic albums can still be made."

The album also marks the debut of a new lineup of very experienced and gifted musicians around the Norwegian singer. On bass is Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) who needs virtually no introduction to European Heavy Metal fanatics. On keyboards and production is Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints), who already joined JORN for the recording of his last covers album, Heavy Rock Radio and was the glue that helped Jorn to create the feel and the direction for the new album. Francesco Jovino (Primal Fear) is on drums and Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle) handles guitar. Truly a recipe for a roaring success!

Jorn had no desire to do 'just another' JORN record. The aim was to do the best record possible and it took almost two years of writing, arranging, and producing before wrapping this all up. The performances are thunderous across the board and you can hear the urgency of these songs in Jorn's singing!

Jorn's catalogue is getting too long to include in brief overviews and his innovative and creative skills as a vocalist and music visionary have led to him selling millions of albums worldwide while being a frequent entrant on sales charts around the world including Billboard. Worth a mention here though are his years fronting Masterplan, whom he recorded three albums with. He has also recently collaborated with the world's biggest online gaming company, Riot Games, providing vocals for the virtual band 'Pentakill' in the game 'League of Legends'. Claimed to be the biggest selling Norwegian musical export since the pop band A-Ha, Jorn continues his Rock crusade and there are no signs of him slowing down and Life on Death Road is a magnificent testament to his abilities!
    Life on Death Road tracklisting:
  1. Life On Death Road
  2. Hammered To The Cross (The Business)

Imperative PR / Stream new Basement Torture Killings album
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
This Friday, April 7th, the murderous Basement Torture Killings will unleash their savage new album, There's Something About Beryl, through Grindscene Records. However, in an attempt to warn people of the carnage to come, Zero Tolerance Magazine are exclusively streaming the album in its entirety at their website – right now! Noone can't guarantee how long the deranged killers in Basement Torture Killings will allow this to go on...

The album is an incredibly intense onslaught of stunning, extreme Death Metal, fuelled by an uncontrollable obsession with torment, torture and death. In the dark world of ultra-extremity Basement Torture Killings stand out like a mountainous bonfire of the burning dead.

Combining whirlwind intensity, breathtaking brutality, masterful musicianship and cruelly creative song writing, There's Something About Beryl is a wickedly exhilarating listen. While you're lost in the blood shower you'll forget everything but the thrill of the kill... but when the music stops and everything goes quiet, you'll be checking under the bed for monsters; because some monsters are very, very real... and they're coming for you.

Frontiers Music / Secret Sphere - The Nature of Time
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to present the release of The Nature of Time, Secret Sphere's ninth studio album, on June 2, 2017.

The new recording celebrates 20 years of hard work that started back in 1997 with the release of the band's widely praised debut album, Mistress Of The Shadowlight. Since then, Secret Sphere has evolved and developed their unique style into what has become a trademark sound, making them one of an elite group of bands putting the Italian Metal scene on the global map. The addition of extraordinary singer Michele Luppi (also currently serving as keyboardist and background vocalist for the legendary Hard Rock act, Whitesnake) in 2012 brought the band to the next level. This was evidenced by his first release with the band, Portrait Of A Dying Heart, receiving wide fan and critical acclaim and landing on many Metal journalists best releases of 2012 lists.

The new album, The Nature Of Time, proves to be the ultimate showcase of the band's skill in composing highly orchestrated songs and introducing their foray into a new age of Heavy Rock and Metal music. High class songs with amazing choruses, big vocals, majestic orchestral arrangements, and amazing, mind-blowing, guitar heroics are the order of the day.

The Nature Of Time explores the 'back to life' concept, an inward looking search of the self that can positively impact everyone's everyday life.

"The long writing process of this album has been a constant 're-living' of memories and feelings, that started with only instrumental pieces that were put together only in order to vent my then current state of mind: a way to express emotions purely, without any kind of 'holding back', so to speak. I then talked to Michele and we decided these were the perfect basis for a new Secret Sphere record", states guitarist Aldo Lonobile.

"What can I say about this album? We spent a few months writing songs in a way that opened the doors to our new age of heavy rock... definitely a new beginning for each member of the band, a new approach that got inspired by the concept of the album itself. It's not easy to open and talk about love and kindness. We chose the most direct way, no masks, only passion, energy and light guided each note leaving any kind of fear behind. Eventually, with time, we became US, not individuals... THIS IS US. Some of these songs earned a very special place in my heart", concludes singer Michele Luppi.

This is truly a symphonic and Melodic Metal masterpiece, a very cinematic album. So close your eyes, enjoy the journey and... the music!

Frontiers Music / Radiation Romeos
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of RADIATION ROMEOS self-titled debut album on June 2, 2017!

Radiation Romeos is a new band formed by the amazing singer Parramore 'Perry' McCarty, best known for being the frontman of legendary US Metal act Warrior and famed Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens' solo project, Atomic Playboys (in fact, the inspiration for the name Radiation Romeos came from a line in the song Atomic Playboys).

Musically, the band moves in a Melodic Hard Rock direction with solid, metallic edges thanks to the production of Michael Voss (Phantom 5, Casanova, Michael Schenker), who also contributed to the songwriting. In the studio, Parramore sang all vocals with Dag Heyne handling guitars, Jogi Spittka on bass, and Gereon Homann laying down the drum work with gusto!

Perry says: "Radiation Romeos started when producer Michael Voss contacted me in San Diego through Facebook. A few days later we had the record agreement with Frontiers, so the RADIATION ROMEOS album was soon under way. Our goal was to write great Melodic Rock songs. The album spans the globe from the title track, power rockin' RADIATION ROMEOS to some songs with a bit more grit like CASTAWAYS. All the way to a beautiful ballad, LIKE AN ARROW. Something for everyone, if you will... The recording was so much fun and exciting for me. I couldn't wait to get up the following day to work on the next song! Michael is a wonderfully professional person with endless talent and the musicians super cool guys and top players!"

Parramore McCarty's career in music started when Robbin Crosby of RATT gave him his start singing in cover bands. His first major label album was Fighting For the Earth on Virgin Records in 1985 for the legendary Heavy Metal band Warrior. Steve Stevens' Atomic Playboys followed in 1989 on Warner Bros. Records. Then he returned to Warrior and also started gigging in the LA area with Metal Freqs and Monster Traxx.

Radiation Romeos will take no prisoners with their exciting mixture of muscular rock anthems and killer melodic songs!

Frontiers Music / The Ferrymen
Posted by: Denis / 06.04.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is truly excited to present THE FERRYMEN's self-titled debut album, set for release on June 2, 2017!

The Ferrymen is a brand new project featuring guitarist Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall) and vocalist Ronnie Romero (Lords Of Black, Rainbow), together with drummer Mike Terrana (Rage, AXEL RUDI PELL, MasterPlan and more).

The songs were written by KarlssonRomero was sent the music via their main bands' shared label home Frontiers, he immediately wanted to be part of the project. Terrana was the last piece of the puzzle and he recorded his drums in Italy, where he currently resides.

The resulting album is a shot of adrenaline for all lovers of Melodic Metal! Musically, you can expect maximum Melodic Metal fusing the songwriting and epic structures of the great ALLEN/LANDE records (for which Magnus Karlsson was the main architect of the first three widely praised releases) with the Ronnie James Dio-esque vocal approach of Romero. (Let's not forget that Romero was hand-picked by Deep Purple (1968-1976) and Rainbow's legendary guitarist Richie Blackmore to be the lead vocalist for Rainbow's recent reunion shows, so the Dio comparison is more than accurate!)

Tells Magnus, "When I wrote this record, having Ronnie singing, I had no limits in mind with the lyrics. Ronnie could sing everything and I am also very proud of the songs!"

"I am used to working with Lords of Black in a certain straight style", adds Ronnie Romero, "but, this record was very different and it was very exciting for me!"

"Overall, I think it is one of the coolest and grooviest records I've ever done", concludes Mike Terrana, a drummer with more than 100 records under his belt!

With stunning artwork courtesy of Stan W. Decker and an outstanding mix courtesy of Simone Mularoni (of Italian Prog Metal masters DGM), THE FERRYMEN is an album which will take the Metal world by storm in 2017!

DIRKSCHNEIDER / U.D.O. statement:
"We are very proud to announce that Mr. Bill Hudson from Brazil is the new guitarist of Dirkschneider / UDO! Bill is based in the United States, but has already been in Pulheim a few weeks ago to join the songwriting session for our next album which we will start recording soon.
Bill fits in in every way perfectly with us and builds a fantastic guitar team together with Andrey Smirnov. He is very experienced and has shared the stage with several known bands, most notably Circle II Circle, Jon Oliva's Pain and TSO for the last few years. It's not really necessary to talk about his skills, simply check it out on our next tour and you will see what we're talking about!
After Kasperi left the band we have received many suggestions and applications from great guitar players from all over the planet. At the same time, we started getting hints from different and unrelated people in the business pointing straight into the same direction, telling us to check out this Brazilian/American guy. Once in Germany he convinced everybody from the get go and it was very clear that this guy had all the requirements to become the new band member.
We are REALLY looking forward to kick ass even more so than ever before."

Imperative PR / Ukrainian Melodic Death Metal band X.Kernel release their debut, Face The Truth, on Cimmerian Shade
Posted by: Denis / 30.03.2017
Imperative are very pleased to be able to announce that they will be working with X.Kernel to promote their wonderful debut album, Face The Truth, which will be released on April 7th by Cimmerian Shade Recordings. Hailing from Kiev, in the Ukraine, X.Kernel were born from a love of the sounds of the great Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal scene – the robustly heavy yet intensely melodic music of Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Soilwork and their compatriots. It wasn't long however, before the blossoming talents within the ranks of X.Kernel began to put their own individual stamp on the songs they were creating. Their influences became a springboard to send the band spinning off into a dark, emotive world of their own making.

A self released EP, Kingdom Of Pain, appeared in 2013, giving a first taste of what X.Kernel were capable of and now - after several line-up changes and four years of hard work - we have the full realisation of the X.Kernel vision. Face The Truth is here... Once the gates to this twilight kingdom have been thrown open there is no turning back and an exhilarating journey through the shadows begins. Guitar leads spiral upwards through rich, dark riffs, while keyboards scatter starlight across a sombre sky full of purple thunderclouds, propelled through the night by the mountainous bass and drums. The vocals combine soaring, emotive singing with savage snarls and bestial roars and everything is infused with a spirit of musical adventure and powerful emotion.

By combining a mastery of established forms with a fresh and expansive outlook, marrying depth and emotion to technical skill and adorning their work with imagination and a sense of adventure, X.Kernel have forged an album that will capture hearts, minds and souls with its arrival on the field of battle.

Nuclear Blast / TANKARD cover artwork revealed; announce song premiere
Posted by: Denis / 29.03.2017
It is their jubilee year! 35 years of TANKARD! And, of course, a suitable soundtrack cannot be neglected for the occasion. The band's 17th studio album will be entitled One Foot In The Grave and will be released on June 2nd, 2017 via Nuclear Blast.

Now the band presents the cover artwork of the anniversary album. With this, the iconic band mascot, the TANKARD-Alien, celebrates his return after about 13 years of absence. The alien was born in 1989 with the Alien-EP and has already graced five album covers. The TANKARD fan club 'Maniac Aliens' is named after it also.

The artwork was brought to life by Patrick Strogulski, who is a student of Sebastian Krüger, the former TANKARD cover artist. He also created the cover artworks for A Girl Called Cerveza and R.I.B..

Vocalist Gerre comments: "Mister Strogulski has once again created a real masterpiece and surpassed himself. Our first plan was, that I would be on the cover instead of the alien... but, lucky me, it ended up being the alien..."

Song-premiere on German radio 'Rock Antenne': On April 8, 2017, TANKARD, together with ROCK ANTENNE, will present you the debut single Arena Of The True Lies. In the show 'Tuff Stuff' (starting at 11 pm) presenter Thomas Moser will broadcast the new song.

One Foot In The Grave was recorded at Gernhart Studio (Troisdorf, Germany) together with producer Martin Buchwalter (DESTRUCTION, SUIDAKRA) in January 2017.

Imperative PR / Solitary release expanded digital reissues and uncover a collectors' item
Posted by: Denis / 28.03.2017
1998s Nothing Changes is now available with the added bonus of the 1996 demo tracks that secured Solitary their first record deal, with Holier Than Thou Records. These demo tracks have never been made available before digitally and only fans who purchased the original demo tape, or took part in the pledge music campaign to support live album I Promise to Thrash Forever will have heard them before. The additional tracks are as follows...
  1. A Second Chance ('96 demo version)
  2. The Bottom Line ('96 demo version)
  3. What Price ('96 demo version)
  4. No Reason ('96 demo version)
  5. FEAR ('96 demo version)
Meanwhile, 2008s Requiem now comes complete with Solitary's 2001 Demo, that was recorded to help with the search for a new label and again has never been made available digitally before. Only those who picked up a limited edition copy from a gig back in the day or supported the I Promise To Thrash Forever pledge campaign will have heard these versions before.
  1. Spineless ('01 demo version)
  2. 15 Years ('01 demo version)
  3. I See Nothing ('01 demo version)
  4. Relentless ('01 demo version)
Speaking about the decision to make these demos available band founder member and front man Rich Sherrington said: "We've been asked a few times about releasing the demos on CD but we didn't feel that it was the right thing to do. We've always felt that the album versions of the tracks are much stronger, which is main the reason why we haven't pursued it with the foreign labels who suggested it. However, we listened again recently and these versions definitely have an energy of their own. Also, the fact that digital platforms allow people to stream or download individual tracks, to us feels like a fair way of getting these recordings out to the people who want to hear them."

In additional news, Solitary have discovered a small batch of the original pressing of the Nothing Changes CD, lurking at the back of a store cupboard. With different cover art from the Casket Music reissue that came out in 2004, these are real collectors' items and only very limited numbers exist. If you're quick you can pick one up from the band's on-line store.

It's been a while since the band sounded this riotous and powerful. Within an apocalyptic soundscape, they reach a delicate balancing act between hope and destruction. The album will be released in summer 2017, the tour will start in fall.

The band stated: "We're set to hit the road. A rider's descending from heaven, covered in blood. We'll enter the stages again, earth will be shaking and we will try our best. METALMESSAGE / KALEDON 'Carnagus - Emperor Of The Darkness'
Posted by: Denis / 24.03.2017
Since the 2014 album Antillius: The King Of The Light the worldwide admirers of the Italian Metal historians KALEDON are hoping for a successor. Now the extraordinary formation is back with a virtuosic, melodic and epic POWER METAL spectacle! After 3 years from the previous release, KALEDON return with the bombastic, epic and majestic album Carnagus - Emperor Of The Darkness.

With a renewed line-up, enhanced by Michele Guaitoli's (Overtures, ex-Future Is Tomorrow) powerful vocals and Manuele di Ascenzo's (ex-Secret Rule) amazing drums skills, mastermind Alex Mele (guitars) has finally forged a new chapter of the Legend Of The Forgotten Reign saga reaching the perfect mix of modern riffs, classic Power Metal speeds, epic choirs and symphonic arrangements.

Together with Paolo Campitelli (keyboards) and the founding members Tommy Nemesio (guitars) and Paolo Lezziroli (bass guitar) KALEDON are back, stronger than ever. Official release date for Carnagus - Emperor Of The Darkness is May 15th, 2017.

World-renowned French graphic artist Jean-Pascal Fournier, who has once again been working for KALEDON after the 2010 work Legend Of The Forgotten Reign, Chapter VI: The Last Night On The Battlefield, is responsible for the optically worthy presentation of the new album. KALEDON had been working on the entire chapter of this saga on six albums. Once the saga was written down in 1997. Now all the parts of this long-term tracked overall concept fit together convincingly and extremely exciting on a single album.

Thematically dramatically, 2017 is all about this elaborately narrated, medieval fantasy story. It is about the classic good/evil plot ... and so much more. There are two rulers in this conflict, which is deeply marked by malicious, cruel and intriguing jealousy: while the good regent Antillius knows everything around him, which makes a decent kingdom happy, the evil opponent monarch Carnagus envies him all the luck. Everything begins with the fatal birth of Carnagus in November of the gloomy year of 1295...

Following on his historic reunion with the classic Misfits lineup attended by record numbers at last year's Riot Fest in Denver and Chicago as well as the recent confirmation of a headlining set at this year's Blackest Of The Black festival. Glenn Danzig has now confirmed the title and release date of first Danzig album of all new material since 2010's widely acclaimed DETH RED SABAOTH: BLACK LADEN CROWN, 50 minutes of long awaited brand new Danzig music, will be released on May 12th.

The details of BLACK LADEN CROWN follow on the announcement of Danzig's Blackest of the Black Festival: Two days of non-stop music and mayhem taking place at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA on May 26th and 27th. Danzig will close the festivities May 27th, headlining a bill featuring more than 20 artists playing amidst a full scale takeover and transformation of the park grounds featuring literally dozens of attractions, vendors, performers, and other surprises musical and otherwise.

Blackest Of The Black promises to create a site-wide atmosphere like no festival before or since. A full rundown of performers and attractions will be announced shortly.

Additionally, this summer marks the 25th Anniversary of the classic DANZIG III: HOW THE GODS KILL. Produced by Danzig himself and featuring the unforgettable cover adorned by H.R. Giger's Meister und Margeritha (The Master and Margarita), HOW THE GODS KILL was the first DANZIG album to crack Billboard's Top 30 and inspired Rolling Stone to rave in its review at the time, 'Rock is alarmingly short of visionaries these days; Danzig is the genuine article'.

Intromental / UNTIL RAIN

Thessaloniki, Greece-based alternative/Progressive Metal act, UNTIL RAIN, has released the first single for their Sensory Records-bound Inure LP, issuing the track Because Something Might Happen through all major digital platforms, as well as through an official video for the song.

Running over nine minutes in length, the wide spectrum of textures and stylistic approaches captured on UNTIL RAIN's exploratory new album are explosively displayed on the extensive new track. Boasting a storyline and visual conveyance as intense as the song itself, the video for Because Something Might Happen was directed and filmed by Charlene Mercedes, with post-production by Tolis Karoulas, and features special guest Venetia Psomiadou.

The members of UNTIL RAIN issue with the single, "Excited to release our first video taken from our upcoming release, Inure. This video represents everything this album deals with and shows the bright and the dark side of the human mind."

Sensory Records will release Inure in Europe on April 28th and in the US on May 12th.

With Inure, UNTIL RAIN's first album since 2013's well-received Anthem To Creation finds them exploring the dark world of psychological/emotional abuse, loss, and doubt and it presents the darkest side of the band thus far. Inure was recorded by UNTIL RAIN in various European cities, including Thessaloniki, London, Gothenburg, and Lausanne, and mixed/mastered by Daniel Cardoso of Anathema in Lisbon, Portugal (Anneke Van Giersbergen, Anathema, Head Control System). The album features beautiful artwork by the new Greek artist/designer Nassia Kefala, and a hand-drawn cover that completely represents the concept of the album and the duality of many inured people; appearing lush on the outside, yet they are rotted inside. With nine massive tracks, Inure presents an hour-long journey that you will want to take again and again, the digital release bearing an additional bonus track as well.

They comment: "We're excited and ready for round two with our good friends THRESHOLD! The last tour was incredible, the fans were amazing and we can't wait to return. This time playing a longer, more diverse set of our brand of symphonic Metal. Let's be 'avin it!"

Dutch Progressive Rock band DAY SIX recently released their 2010 album The Grand Design and is ready to properly present a new album on this upcoming tour!

The band states: "This is one of those rare moments in live where things just fit seamlessly: while we are scheduling studio recordings for our new album, THRESHOLD was looking for an openingact for their European tour. PRIDE & JOY MUSIC signs German symphonic Metal ONCE; Crowdfunding campaign started
Posted by: Denis / 21.03.2017
PRIDE & JOY MUSIC is proud to announce the signing of German symphonic Metal band ONCE! Based in Münster, Germany the female-fronted four-piece is currently working on their full length-debut album After Earth which is scheduled for a release in January 2018!

Formed in the year 2012, ONCE first started to work on creating a fully orchestrated Metal project. This process resulted in the release of a first demo EP and two video clips in the year 2015 which were recorded and filmed at the conservatory in Enschede, The Netherlands. Singer Alina Lesnik is now already known for her popular Youtube cover channel and her participation in our best selling release the VIVALDI METAL PROJECT. The line-up next to Alina consists of Frank Wypchol (keys), Alexander Hey (drums) and Marco Paulzen (male vocals, guitars).

In late 2016, ONCE caught the attention of PRIDE & JOY MUSIC with their demo and met up with the label to work on ideas on how to realize the concept together. In January 2017, the four-piece group finally signed a record deal with the label.

Earlier this week, ONCE have started an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to complete the album production.
Imperative PR / Maxdmyz to release Alchemical Metal on Renegade Records plus new dystopian video single
Posted by: Denis / 20.03.2017
Maxdmyz have redefined themselves with this release and have never sounded more potent and powerful. Armed with their palette of endless colours these sonic rebels have produced music as eclectic as it is explosive. They have poured emotion into a heart of steel, crafting a music machine driven by love, hate, rage and joy, sadness, regret and hope. This band can deliver a hammer blow with an iron fist, bewitch your soul with their immersive soundscapes or simply obliterate you in a wall of cyber noise. All of this and more can be found on the beguiling, untameable, impossible to cage Alchemical Metal. You'll be enchanted and broken, raised up to dizzying heights of euphoria and crushed into the dirt of bitter, black despair. From a reason to live to down in the dirt, via hell... The band's vision of a dystopian future, expressed in the single All To Hell, has been stunningly captured by Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art (Flotsam And Jetsam, Formicarius, Solitary etc) in a new lyric video. This powerful piece of visual art really captures the spirit of the visionary song.

The band will be playing a special release show for the new EP when they appear at the 7th Edition of Renaissance Alternative Music Festival held on Sunday April 23rd at the Lounge 666. This twelve hour extravaganza will include cabaret, a photography exhibition, life drawing, a display of comics and a host of top bands and DJs.

Napalm Records / KOBRA AND THE LOTUS unleash new song 'You Don't Know'
Posted by: Denis / 20.03.2017
It's been three years since Kobra And The Lotus' last studio album High Priestess was released back in 2014. The time since has not been wasted; with their third album under their belt, and completing multiple tours worldwide (with the likes of Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Black Label Society, Fear Factory to name just a few), their path of self-discovery has led them to this most important moment in their career. Prevail I, the band's latest offering, will be released on May 12th 2017 on Napalm Records, and promises to be a rock juggernaut full of blistering guitars, pounding rhythms and haunting vocal melodies that will take the listener on a sonic journey leading them out from the darkness and into the light! Produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica etc) and mastered by Grammy award winning Ted Jensen, Prevail I will undoubtedly usher the band to much deserved elevated hard rock status. Evolution is inevitable and Kobra And The Lotus have delivered their most powerful album to date.

Let the music speak for itself. To get a taste of Prevail I, Kobra And The Lotus have now unleashed their first single for the stunning track You Don't Know!

Says vocalist Kobra Paige:
"To be alive brings many great things but among those things includes great suffering. It's painful to feel backed into a corner, judged, misunderstood for who we really are. We can never really know a person until we have seen their point of view, crawled into their skin, and walked a mile in their shoes, but that will never happen. This is the anthem for the man, the woman, the human, navigating their life the best way they can. After all 'You don’t know what it’s like to be me!'"

In support of their new album, Kobra And The Lotus have announced a North American tour supporting label-mates Xandria this May. In addition the North American dates, the band has a handful of European dates on the books with more to come. Don't miss out on seeing Kobra And The Lotus live!

Kobra Paige and the band are excited to hit the road: "It is with great pleasure to announce not only our first tour of the year but also our first unveiling of Prevail I! We are thrilled to be hitting the road through North America this May in support of Xandria. With Once Human kicking off the night, this is sure to be a fiercely versatile bill that will keep people on their toes from start to finish. See you soon!"

Sinheresy have released a video for the song My Only Faith, the first single taken from the new album Domino, out on April 7th on Scarlet Records.

Following the critically acclaimed debut Paint The World, with this new effort Sinheresy have added new strengths to their unique blend of Metal, ranging from the symphonic sound of Nightwish and Within Temptation to the Progressive approach of Symphony X and Children Of Bodom. Superbly mixed to bring out warmth and depth, their new work is a treat for the ears on multiple levels. Not only is the overall sound excellent, but the solid engineering also serves to highlight the strength of Cecilia and Stefano's vocal performances and displays the raw talents of the band to their fullest. This is how mastering engineer Mika Jussila of legendary Finnvox Studios commented: "I keep this album as a good example of a modern Metal record but don't want to categorize any more. All tracks are produced and arranged in a very cool way and the sound is modern, punchy and powerful. Listening this you feel happy and energetic at the same time."

Complex at times and elegantly simple at others, Domino is a strong evolutionary step that blends new elements with old, enhancing rather than changing the band's traditional sound.

Nuclear Blast / TANKARD release studio trailer for 'One Foot In The Grave'
Posted by: Denis / 16.03.2017
When cult thrashers TANKARD are torn out their winter's sleep, it has to be for a valid reason: It is their jubilee year! 35 years of TANKARD!

And, of course, a suitable soundtrack can not be missed. That's why Gerre and Co. went on a long journey to Troisdorf, together with producer Martin Buchwalter (DESTRUCTION, SUIDAKRA), to record their 17th studio album entitled One Foot In The Grave at Gernhard Studio. The album is scheduled to be released on June 2nd, 2017 via Nuclear Blast.

Now the band has published a studio trailer in which you can have a look behind the scenes of the record's production. In addition, you may also listen to the very first song snippets.

Vocalist Gerre comments: "Yes, we are old, but even as the album title suggests - this is not the end! It was really exciting to finally work together with Martin Buchwalter, whom we've already known for like 100 years! He demanded everything from us and we are very confident that this album is going to be amazing! As usual with TANKARD, we had the huge pressure of time for songwriting and our nerves were on edge. But the effort was all worth it! We really hope you will like the album just as much as we do! Cheers to the next 35 years!"

Frontiers Music / Quiet Riot to re-record new album 'Road Rage'
Posted by: Denis / 15.03.2017
Following the departure of singer Seann Nicols from Quiet Riot, both Frontiers Music Srl and band leader Frankie Banali have made the joint decision to delay the release of the new Quiet Riot album, Road Rage until later this summer.

Both the band and label feel that in order to truly represent Quiet Riot's lineup, new lead singer James Durbin should be the vocalist on Road Rage. In order to execute that plan and promote the album accordingly, and with the full support of the label, the band will go back into the studio and record the album with Durbin on vocals to ensure that they deliver the album that Quiet Riot fans have been patiently waiting for and truly deserve.

Regarding the critically important decision to re-record with new Quiet Riot vocalist James Durbin, Banali said, "After careful consideration, with the support of Frontiers and understanding the appeals from Quiet Riot fans to have our vocalist James Durbin represented on the new Quiet Riot release, we have made the decision to move forward and have James replace all the vocals on Road Rage with new lyrics and melodies for a summer 2017 release. Stay tuned!"

While the new Quiet Riot album will be slightly delayed as a result of the re-recording process, the Quiet Riot faithful can rest assured that the resulting album will be well worth the brief wait.

Famously known as the first Heavy Metal band to top the pop charts, the Los Angeles quartet became a global sensation thanks to their monstrous smash hit 1983 album, Metal Health. The band now continues their historic journey in 2017 with founding member of the 1983 Metal Health era of QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali, veteran bassist Chuck Wright (who has been in and out of QUIET RIOT since 1982) and guitarist Alex Grossi (who has been handling his duties since 2004).

Frankie Banali's history with QUIET RIOT spans over 34 years and he has the distinction of being the only member of QUIET RIOT to have recorded on every single QUIET RIOT release from 1983's METAL HEALTH through 2017's Road Rage. After nearly ten years since the loss of his friend and co-founding member and bandmate Kevin DuBrow, and with careful consideration, soul searching and with the blessings and support of Kevin DuBrow's family, Frankie has moved forward with the band.

SPV signs worldwide deal with legendary Metal band THE RODS
Posted by: Denis / 14.03.2017
The new year is off to an awesome start, Steamhammer/SPV having signed legendary Metal band THE RODS for the world. The group consisting of the original members David 'Rock' Feinstein (guitar, vocals), Carl Canedy (drums) and Garry Bordonaro (bass) always delivered a classic brand of Metal and Hard Rock with strong influences that date back to 1970s.

Drummer Carl Canedy says: "The 3rd time's a charm! After two unsuccessful attempts, to work with Olly Hahn and Steamhammer/SPV , it's finally happening. The Rods have signed a worldwide deal for their brand new album Louder Than Loud. This album, in my opinion, has some of the strongest Rods material in years. The title says it all!"

Olly Hahn, A&R and International Product Manager at Steamhammer/SPV, is thrilled: "I remember when I saw an ad for the album Wild Dogs in a German magazine back in 1982. I immediately had to have the album although I had no idea what I can expect musicwise. The cover was so awesome and when I put the album on my turntable I was blown away. Now 35 years later it's fantastic to say the following sentence: We're proud and happy to welcome THE RODS to our big Steamhammer family!"

THE RODS are a classic Heavy Metal trio that rocked their way through the 80’s with classic albums like The Rods, Wild Dogs, In The Raw with a powerful, raw energy that led them on tours with some of today's greatest Metal bands Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, to name just a few.

The new album Louder Than Loud will be released later in 2017 followed by many live shows and festivals.

Spinefarm Records / Please welcome - Cyhra, featuring ex-members of Amaranthe + In Flames
Posted by: Denis / 14.03.2017
Cyhra, a new project featuring former Amaranthe singer Jake E. and ex-In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad, have signed to Spinefarm Records. The band, which formed a year ago, will enter the studio this spring, with the debut album expected to drop in the fall.

The core members, who cut their teeth in two incredibly influential Metal bands, recruited other well-respected musicians to complete the lineup and the rhythm section: Drummer Alex Landenburg, known from his work with Rhapsody and Annihilator, as well as bass player Peter Iwers of In Flames and Stoney Mountain. The addition of Landenburg and Iwers helped to fuel the Cyhra songwriting process and to solidify their overall sound.

"The excitement I feel about Cyhra is over the top", Jake E. said. "I have to pinch myself every day to make sure it's not just another dream. I am so proud of the music we have created and I can't wait to show it to the world!"

Strömblad stated, "For the first time for as long as I can remember, I feel I am a part of something special. This band has helped me regain my true passion for music. I can't wait to share this to the world!"

Cyhra plan to tour the world in support of their Spinefarm debut.

Given their respective pedigrees and their collective passion, Cyhra are ready to unleash this musical beast on the Metal world. You've been warned.
Nuclear Blast / EDGUY to celebrate their 25th anniversary with 'Monuments' and a best-of tour
Posted by: Denis / 14.03.2017
In February 1992, a bunch of German kids set out from the middle of nowhere and founded a band that would conquer the hearts of a whole new generation of fans around the globe!

Today, 25 years later, founding members Tobias Sammet (AVANTASIA) and the two guitarists Jens Ludwig and Dirk Sauer, as well as Tobias 'Eggi' Exxel (bass) and Felix Bohnke (drums), who joined the band 20 years ago, can look back at their hugely successful career to shows in more than 40 countries, countless tours in Asia, Australia and America, ten studio albums and top 10 chart entries from all over the world.

To celebrate such an exceptional career with their fans, EDGUY will get back on the road. And while the live program will only contain the best material of their entire career, the new release will not be just a 'Greatest Hits' album one would expect to accompany such a tour: The 2-CD/DVD-package Monuments (release: July 14th) will include brand new material, their best tracks of the last 25 years, and old rarities that have never been published before! In addition, the DVD includes an entire show from their Hellfire Club tour in 2004 as well as the complete collection of their video clips. The limited edition will include an extensive coffee-table book containing material from throughout the entire history of EDGUY!

Frontman Tobias Sammet states: "Whilst collecting all of this picture material together we were once again made aware of how proud we are of what we have created. There are probably not many musicians who are lucky enough to be able to look back on a 25-year-old band history at the end of their thirties. And especially without any line-up changes in the last 20 years! This is even more incredible considering that we're not from Birmingham, New York or a German metropolis but from a small town called Fulda, a place where you normally only know about the insights of the music business by hearsay. I mean, as kids we started to play Edguy shows even before we had visited concerts as fans ourselves! Then we started to play shows outside our home town, then outside Germany and all of a sudden we found ourselves touring in Asia, America and Australia on a regular basis, because apparently there were people who liked our music. And they became more and more. For us, this always felt quite normal, the next step was all that mattered. We didn't think about what happened while things were happening...
But if you look back now, you will realise how lucky we were! It's now time to celebrate our anniversary with our fans. We'll celebrate our quarter century with the release of Monuments and LIVE in some selected cities! We'll perform a best-of set list, a journey throughout our past, with a lot of fuss and at full throttle! The first quarter century is over and we want to honour these years with our fans! To the next 25 years!"

Imperative PR / Lunatic Hooker - Embracing The Filth
Posted by: Denis / 13.03.2017
The music business can be spirit crushing and soul destroying. Bands that start as groups of friends with a passion for music can end up disillusioned, with the flames of their passion near extinguished. This happened to George, Ross, Tim, Duncan Rafael in their respective bands – but rather than let those last flickering embers burn out for good, they got together to forge a new entity and reignite the fire. The five friends got back to basics – a rehearsal room, some beer and blasting out the music they loved at insane volume and velocity. Every last ounce of fury and frustration was poured out in a barrage of blast beats. The dam holding back the anger burst and Lunatic Hooker came roaring, screaming, howling into the world.

Through that powerful, cathartic cleansing process, every band member began to reconnect with everything they had loved about extreme music in the first place and the fire quickly became an inferno of creativity and adrenaline. Before they knew it the band were ripping up stages with Magrudergrind, Fit For An Autopsy, Attan, Corrupt Moral Altar, Conjurer, Hang The Bastard, recording a monstrous, twisted cover of the Motörhead classic (We Are) The Road Crew for a tribute album - and working on their full length debut.

Now that album is complete and straining at the leash, with the date of release set for April 17th on Black Bow Records. Mastered by Anaal Nathrakh's Mick Kenney, Embracing The Filth features twelve tracks of punishing, pulverising death/grind, crackling with that irresistible rediscovered electricity. There's so much more to this album than just that exhilarating rush though. The songs have been immaculately crafted and are overflowing with fantastic, memorable riffs, wicked hooks and searing lead work. From the explosive opener, My God Is Bigger Than Yours to the crushing sludge landslide of Sarlac, Embracing The Filth is a stunning demonstration of just how captivating and accomplished truly extreme music can be. With artwork created by Dan Capp of Winterfylleth, Embracing The Filth is the complete package, the real deal and those flames are burning higher than ever.

Imperative PR / Formicarius sign to Schwarzdorn Production for the release of Black Mass Ritual
Posted by: Denis / 13.03.2017
Formicarius have signed a deal with the German label Schwarzdorn Production! Schwarzdorn have been established since 1994 and are known for releasing individual Black Metal of real quality – making them the perfect fit for Formicarius.

The first release from this new, unholy alliance will be Formicarius' debut full length album – Black Mass Ritual. The single from the album, Lake Of The Dead is now into its second pressing and the accompanying video, created by Andy Pilkington (Flotsam And Jetsam, etc) has been hugely popular. Such has been the impact of Lake Of The Dead that Sony Music/Music For Nations selected it to be included on their compilation album Speed Kills VII – a relaunch of the famous Speed Kills series that helped introduce the world to the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax. All of which has served to heighten and intensify the anticipation for Black Mass Ritual...

Some of the songs have been performed live when Formicarius played storming shows with the likes of Negura Bunget, Old Corpse Road, Hate and Noctem. Now the wait for Black Mass Ritual will soon be over - and with the power of Schwarzdorn Production behind them, Formicarius are ready to set the world ablaze!

Napalm Records / KOBRA AND THE LOTUS release Special Studio Diary!
Posted by: Denis / 13.03.2017
Led by frontwoman and classically trained vocal powerhouse Kobra Paige, KOBRA AND THE LOTUS have been making a name for themselves worldwide since 2009 with extensive touring and well-received albums. This band is loaded with precision, heavy emotion, and grand-scale dynamics and Prevail I will undoubtedly usher KOBRA AND THE LOTUS to much deserved elevated Hard Rock status.

Prevail I was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica etc) and mastered by Grammy award winning Ted Jensen & will be released worldwide on May 12th 2017 via Napalm Records.

Want to grab a look behind the scenes of the studio and the recording process? Check it out with KOBRA AND THE LOTUS' special studio footage.

Vocalist Kobra Paige states:
"In 2015, I decided we needed to go to Denmark to record with Jacob Hansen, it was going to be a double album, and we were going to write both albums there in an organic way like they did in the 70's. I think everyone thought I was slightly crazy but they all bravely hopped onboard and, sure enough, we wrote the best music of our lives to date. I have never felt so proud of our music until now, and I was super proud of how everyone involved, stretched and pushed themselves to their creative limits. We needed to evolve. We needed to work harder at nailing down what made us Kobra and the Lotus. We needed to be more relatable to people so the messages could travel further. The studio experience was brutally challenging, stressful, and unbelievably humbling. We learned a ton and bled a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into it. This album represents exactly what it's titled. Prevail is a testament of our strength and determination to never give up. Prevail is the strength of all people prevailing through life."

Napalm Records / WARBRINGER World premiere song and video for 'Remain Violent'
Posted by: Denis / 10.03.2017
The highly anticipated WARBRINGER album Woe to the Vanquished will be released on March 31st 2017 via Napalm Records.

Now Music Choice is set to air the exclusive world premiere of Remain Violent, the latest single and video from WARBRINGER. Remain Violent will appear exclusively on Music Choice On Demand in the Brand New This Week category and on the Music Choice App on the Metal Video Channel. The song will also be in heavy rotation on the Music Choice Metal Music Channel.

Frontman John Kevill comments on the video: "Remain Violent is a headbanging stomper of a track anchored around a really killer riff. Probably the most immediate and instantly memorable song off Woe to the Vanquished and sure to become a live favorite.
The song deals with the increasingly militaristic behavior of the police in recent times, and the chorus line is a play on 'You have the right to remain silent'.
Crank it up and bang your fucking head! Remain Violent!"

Frontiers Music / Royal Hunt - Live
Posted by: Denis / 10.03.2017
Frontiers Music Srl celebrates Royal Hunt's 25th Anniversary with the release of a brand new live 2CD/DVD, Blu-Ray, and MP3 set entitled 2016 on May 12, 2017!

Following a tradition established after two successful anniversary long form video releases – 1996 and 2006 – it is time for a third one: 2016. Recorded with 9 HD cameras and top-notch audio equipment in Moscow's Izvestiya Hall during last year's world tour, the video shows 'all-fab-things-Royal': a high energy show in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, an excellent set list, the band in top form, and a stunning stage production. Add a stellar audio recording and this package, celebrating Royal Hunt's 25th Anniversary, is any Hard Rock fan's delight.

In keyboardist André Andersen's own words: "25 years later Royal Hunt's still going strong…who could have imagined that? Not me, that's for sure... a quarter of a century?! Absolutely unreal. 13 studio albums, lots of special EPs and compilations, 5 live albums, literally countless shows/tours, and now the 4th DVD release. Lots of ups and downs along the way, yet we're still around, still able to do what we love doing the most – making music. I always felt that if you do it from your heart, if you stay true to yourself and work hard you'll be granted this sort of staying power... and yes, we're all extremely grateful to our fans for giving us an opportunity to create, to improve and to continue our musical journey. So, once again, push that 'play' button, enjoy this video and rest assured, the best is yet to come!"

Frontiers Music / Warrant - Louder Harder Faster
Posted by: Denis / 10.03.2017
Frontiers Music srl is pleased to announce the release of WARRANT's new studio album, LOUDER HARDER FASTER on May 12, 2017!

Under their belt, Warrant has eight million records sold worldwide, two Top Ten Billboard albums, five Top 40 Billboard hits, five #1 MTV videos...the list goes on and on. Now, six years after the release of Rockaholic, the album that relaunched the band as a force to be reckoned with in the 21st Century, Warrant returns with another slab of muscular Hard Rock, aptly titled Louder Harder Faster.

With a line-up featuring original members, Erik Turner, Jerry Dixon, Joey Allen, Steven Sweet along with singer Robert Mason (Lynch Mob, Cry of Love), Warrant are now stronger than ever. Mason's vocals remain a breath of fresh air and his swagger on the songs gives new life and a bright future to the band. With production handled by Foreigner and ex-Dokken bass player Jeff Pilson (Last In Line, Starship, Adler's Appetite, etc.), Warrant is sounding tighter and playing better than ever before. Louder Harder Faster, true to the band's roots, is full of rockers with some classic ballads thrown in and will surely send their faithful fans into a frenzy.

Erik Turner says, "You can hear and feel the emotions of the last 25 + years of being in this band poured into Louder Harder Faster. The fun and the frustrations, the pleasure and the pain... a whole lot of blood, sweat, tears and beers went into the making of this album. Love it or hate it, its the real f'ckn' deal, 100% pure Melodic Hard Rock. Hand crafted by five musicians who dedicated their lives to music when they were just little kids with big dreams."

Jerry Dixon adds, "Louder Harder Faster is truly one of our best records to date. It has all the classic Warrant ingredients that people have come to know, plus a lot of extras that keep it in the modern realm of todays music. It's a perfect mix between Balls and Ballads. When we started this project over two years ago, we wanted to bring the listener back to the days of sitting in the living room and cranking up a record from start to finish. Making full records seems to be a lost art, we hope in some small way that this album helps people find that art again."

Warrant was one of the most popular and successful Rock bands to emerge out of Hollywood, CA in the late 80's and early 90's. The band was formed in the early 80's by Erik Turner and Jerry Dixon. In 1989, Warrant released their classic debut Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, which immediately entered the charts and launched the hit singles Down Boys, Sometimes She Cries, Heaven, which climbed up to number two on the US charts. With extensive touring for DRFSR, sales exceeded 2 million records in the U.S.

In the summer of 1990, their second album Cherry Pie was released. The album turned out to be an even bigger success, featuring the Top Ten hits I Saw Red, Uncle Toms Cabin and the Rock anthem Cherry Pie, which received massive airplay on MTV and continues to get millions of plays on streaming services and YouTube to this very day.

WARRANT's signature style of rock is catchy, very melodic, and remains the band's calling card. The band is fired up and more inspired than ever musically! The band will be out touring in support of Louder Harder Faster, so be sure to catch them when they hit your town!
    Louder Harder Faster tracklisting:

Intromental / PERSEFONE
Posted by: Denis / 09.03.2017
The Andorran Progressive Metal monster a.k.a. PERSEFONE is releasing Living Waves, the second video from their highly-acclaimed 5th album Aathma which was released worldwide on February 24th. The song features a very special guest appearance from the legendary Paul Masvidal (Cynic, ex Death).

Guitarist Carlos Lozano's own words about Living Waves: "Picking one song from an album that works as a whole, is always a complicated task. Living Waves marks the middle point, musically as well as lyrically on the album before its conclusion, and with the addition of Paul Masvidal's vocals, lyrics and guitar playing, it creates a unique atmosphere by itself. That's why we chose this piece of music and this message, to go along with the images in this clip."

Limb Music / DRAGONY - Lords Of The Hunt
Posted by: Denis / 09.03.2017
In 2017, after two successful albums, the band is celebrating its 10th anniversary as well as the fifth birthday of their debut work Legends. These two events are the motor for Dragony to present their fans with a new MCD – a work which is well worth listening to. On the MCD, entitled Lords Of The Hunt there are the great, the rare and some lost and found titles. Apart from two brand new songs, Lords Of The Hunt and Call Of The Wild you can find newly recorded versions of the debut work's most popular songs, songs which were previously available only as bonus tracks, as well as demo rarities and it also includes the band's two video clips of Burning Skies and the David Hasselhoff cover version of True Survivor.

Napalm Records / MOONSPELL to release new album this year
Posted by: Denis / 09.03.2017
The rumours are true! MOONSPELL is ready to release their next album this year.

The band is currently on pre-production with John Phipps at their home studios (Inferno) in Portugal and has recently posted online some pictures of videos of their daily work at the studio.

The album title will be 1755 and it's a quite surprising twist of events and direction for the band. Versing the Great Lisbon Earthquake (1755), the band has developed a lyrical concept that looks into the death and rebirth of Lisbon and how the disaster changed Religion, Politics and Philosophy in the whole of Europe. The surprise is that the album will be fully sung in PORTUGUESE!

What was supposed to be just a 4-song bonus for the LISBOA UNDER THE SPELL DVD-BLURAY (recorded last February in Lisbon with 4000 wild fans attending, to be released in 2018) evolved into a full length album that will be produced by Tue Madsen (Antfarm Studios, DK) who worked with the band in a few previous releases (UNDER SATANAE, NIGHT ETERNAL, ALPHA NOIR/OMEGA WHITE).

In the band's own words, Fernando (lead singer) explains: "We fell in love with the concept and made perfect sense to sing it in our national language, Portuguese. I guess we were just waiting for the right opportunity to work on such an album. Musically it will be heavier than Extinct. It will be earthshaking but also very detailed with orchestrations and percussion as we want people to relive the Lisbon of the 18th century. Singing it in Portuguese, allowed me to find a different expression as a vocalist and my job is to be the survivor of the Earthquake, roaming the ruins and telling you all about it."
The band will tour Latin America soon and will play several festivals in the Summer. Find all dates listed below & make sure to catch MOONSPELL live on the road:

Some music was meant to stay underground, or so the saying goes – and some music was meant to stay in a filthy basement, knee-deep in gore, knitting a new pair of socks with someone's entrails. Welcome to the deranged world of Basement Torture Killings...

The original line-up of Basement Torture Killings first escaped from their asylums, secure units and maximum security prisons back in 2007. They were drawn together by fate and stayed together due to their mutual interest in Death Metal, Grindcore and killing. They evaded capture long enough to record a demo, an EP and two albums, The Second Cumming, which was released through Arcane Productions in 2011 and the hellish A Night Of Brutal Torture, unleashed by Grindscene Records in 2014.

Sadly, while touring in support of that monstrous album, only guitarist Tarquin was sufficiently careful when disposing of the leftovers from his 'extracurricular activities', the rest of the band falling prey to the ever zealous police. Tarquin was left to stalk the sewers and cesspits of the world, searching through the ranks of the sick and psychotic for those gifted enough to continue his crusade of Metal and barbarity. Eventually he found them... Dr. Krauss, an unlicensed 'surgeon' with a bloodlust to match his bass playing. Faceless Killer, a barely controllable beast, only content when battering and bruising drum skins or human skin. And Beryl... wide eyed but far from innocent and perhaps the only creature capable of making her bestial band mates uneasy and uncomfortable. Yes, there's definitely something about Beryl...

So what better title for the latest album from Basement Torture Killings? There's Something About Beryl takes not only the madness to new levels, but the sheer musicality as well. Conscienceless monsters they most certainly are, but Basement Torture Killings can play! You won't hear a more intense, more terrifyingly convincing slab of death or grind anywhere. Tarquin's solos tear through these songs like power tools through flesh, the onslaught of the bass and drums is utterly overwhelming and then there's Beryl – a chilling presence of unfathomable inhumanity and sadistic cruelty, repulsive and yet compellingly enticing. This album is a sickness, as infectious as the plague. This band are unnerving, dangerous and addictive.
  • Tarquin – Guitars & Vocals
  • Dr. Krauss – Bass
  • Faceless Killer – Drums
  • Beryl - Vocals
  • Genre: Death Metal / Goregrind
  • For fans of: Cannibal Corpse, Avulsed, Prostitute, Disfigurement, General Surgery

OMEN / BATTLEROAR split 7” to be released on Cruz Del Sur Music
Posted by: Denis / 06.03.2017
CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC is pleased and proud to present its upcoming April release, a split 7" featuring two legends in EPIC METAL, OMEN and BATTLEROAR!

The 7" will feature two unreleased tracks, OMEN - Up From The Deep and BATTLEROAR - Stronghold. It will be released in a deluxe edition on the occasion of OMEN's European tour in April/May 2017.

BATTLEROAR's Stronghold is in the same style as the fastest and heaviest songs on their last album Blood Of Legends (Cruz Del Sur, 2014). It shows a massive rhythmic session, great leads and Gerrit's classic, epic and melodic vocals.

OMEN's Up From The Deep sounds as if it was taken directly from Battle Cry. War cries introduce the legendary OMEN sound, with Kenny Powell painting a majestic tapestry of guitar notes above which Kevin Goocher delivers a brazen complimentary vocal performance.

Besides, both bands have faced line-up additions in these latest months and the 7" is the occasion to test how the new line ups work.

BATTLEROAR just announced the addition of Greg Vlachos (ex-Marauder) on drums, and Michael Kontogiorgis (ex-Spitfire, Exoristoi and more) on guitars as permanent members.

While OMEN just announced on their facebook page the addition of two new members to the line-up. Both of them are Kenny Powell and Kevin Goocher's long-time partners in crime: Roger Sisson wrote many of the Battle Cry's riffs but was never part of the Omen line-up... Now after 30 years he's the official new bass-player! And the new drummer, Reece Stanley, was in the Phantom X line-up together with Kevin.

The 7" will be officially presented at Keep It True 2017, where OMEN will play alongside with Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road, Atlantean Kodex among others.

SPV / NIGHT DEMON release new album in April
Posted by: Denis / 01.03.2017
Ventura, California based Metal outfit NIGHT DEMON have proclaimed their epic return in 2017, which comes in the form of the band's upcoming full length studio effort, Darkness Remains. The new album is the follow up to their debut record, Curse of the Damned, and is primed for an April 21st 2017 release on SPV/Steamhammer. In addition to the impending release of Darkness Remains, Night Demon is also pleased to announce that they will be embarking on a full European tour. The tour begins directly on the release date in Germany and will run 'til early June before the band will come back to Europe by the end of July.

Speaking about their journey on the path leading to the release of Darkness Remains, the members of NIGHT DEMON came together to state the following:
"Well it's about time for Night Demon to release a new album! It's been quite the whirlwind for us touring the world over the last two years on Curse of the Damned. We really wanted to give the existing fans a chance to digest the album and have a chance to see it live a few times. We have been prepping for the new record for over a year, and now the moment is upon us to unleash this beast for one and all! Very excited to continue our road journeys with some new material for the faithful, and the newcomers. Night Demon is coming for you in 2017!"

Darkness Remains delivers all the expected 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal' inspired thrills and chills, but also sees members, Jarvis Leatherby (vocals/bass), Armand John Anthony (guitar), and Dusty Squires (drums), honing their songwriting chops. Not only has the band's overall sound matured, but the individual members have carved out their own niches, sharpened their attack, and even taken some chances along the way. Boasting a full, powerful, and clear production that retains a raw edginess, Darkness Remains sets the gold standard for how a traditional Metal record should sound in 2017.

In addition to the upcoming album and touring, NIGHT DEMON remain active in their charitable efforts and have just launched the campaign for their annual 'Metal Cares' program. Speaking about this project and their endeavors aimed at giving back to the community, the band comments:

"At least once a year we do a campaign for the Night Demon Metal Cares shirt. Each year has a new design and they have ended up being some of the best merch we've done. This year, our big brothers in Cirith Ungol have gotten in on the action to combine forces with us for an amazing T-shirt for the 2017 edition of Metal Cares. Recently our efforts have been focused on scholarships for the underprivileged in our community – working with the YMCA and Merch Relief in aiding victims of natural disasters, and that is the focus of this new design.
The current campaign runs from February 22nd through March 3rd. ALL PROFITS will be donated! Shirts are produced in response to pre-order and will print/ship once the campaign ends – at which time this exclusive design will be gone!"

Darkness Remains will be released through SPV/Steamhammer europeanwide on April 21st, 2017 as CD digipack, LP Version in dark green vinyl, download (with bonus tracks) and stream.

AIRBOURNE have revealed a rip-roaring video for It's All For Rock N' Roll, the climactic track on their current studio album, Breakin' Outta Hell – their first for Spinefarm Records.

It's All For Rock N' Roll was written about Lemmy, a man the band looked up to, befriended and loved, having shared stages with Motörhead on numerous occasions over their decade-plus career, both in Europe and Australia; when they needed someone to drive a large truck (recklessly, of course) in their Runnin’ Wild video (2007), Lemmy was the first name on the list, and he duly obliged with a memorable, authority-baitin' cameo.

Motörhead's famous 'bomber' lighting rig, a noted part of 'Head history since the late '70s, was enthusiastically lent to Airbourne by the Motörhead camp, adding real emotional weight to both the It's All For Rock N' Roll clip and the song itself – an anthemic number recorded to honour one of rock's most revered and influential figures, and also to celebrate the hard rock genre as a whole, the loyalty and the legacy...

Says Airbourne frontman Joel O' Keeffe: "When Motörhead played, Lemmy was there for the fans and the fans were there for him. It didn't matter what was happening in the world at that point, because Motörhead was onstage; the crew had everything dialled in, and the crowd were there and lovin’ it – all for rock 'n' roll...
Whenever we were on tour, we looked forward to seeing the festival posters with the big Motörhead logo on there, and now there’s just a big black hole. 'We are Motörhead, and we play rock 'n' roll', we were so used to hearing that, and when it's not there anymore, it hits you hard...
Lemmy meant so much to us, and so much to rock 'n' roll itself..."

Airbourne will play at the Download Festival this June, taking to the main stage for the first time, with a headline appearance at the Hard Rock Hell Festival in Wales to follow in November.
