Frontiers Music / House of Lords - Saint Of The Lost Souls
Posted by: Denis / 13.01.2017
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of Saint Of The Lost Souls, the tenth studio album from House of Lords. The album, which is the follow up to their highly successful Indestructible, will be released March 24th.

Now the first audio offering from Saint Of The Lost Souls entitled Oceans Divide can be heard here.

Recorded and produced by the band's singer and mastermind James Christian, this collection of songs has an incredible flow of up-tempo and mid-tempo rockers mixed with power ballads, which lean a bit more toward keyboards this time around, but without compromising the band's trademark sound which is based around Jimi Bell's guitar.

Saint Of The Lost Souls is already one of the years most anticipated Melodic Rock releases and will not disappoint fans of the band or genre. James Christian's well crafted and smooth vocals bring the band's craft to new heights. Guitarist Jimi Bell is on fire and the melodic riffs throughout the album will leave you breathless. A new addition on bass is Chris Tristram, who is no stranger to the Rock community. His solid performance adds another dimension to the sound and BJ Zampa brings a solid and powerful rhythm foundation to House of Lords.

House of Lords debuted in 1989 with the release of their self-titled album, a record which is still regarded as one of the best arena rock releases of the 80's. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of James Christian and instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex-Angel and Giuffria keyboardist, Gregg Giuffria, along with luminaries Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright, Ken Mary), were reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake/David Coverdale, Deep Purple, Van Halen and immediately brought the band to the attention of the music media and fans.

With their sophomore release, Sahara, House of Lords had considerable radio and video chart success with their cover of Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home. After a tour with Nelson in 1991, the group disbanded, eventually coming back together with a new lineup (featuring original members Giuffria and Christian) in 1992 with Demon's Down. With the change in musical climate at the time, House of Lords went into hibernation until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing the controversial Power and the Myth, an album which featured a sound leaning more towards Progressive Hard Rock with 70's rock influences. After a short European tour, singer James Christian decided to go back to the trademark arena Rock sound of House Of Lords, putting together a new line-up with the blessing of founding member Gregg Giuffria, who opted out right before the release of Power and the Myth. New members Jimi Bell on guitars and B.J. Zampa on drums supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album, World Upside Down, a record which caused a real stir in the Hard Rock and Melodic Rock scenes. That album was followed up by the equally impressive Come to My Kingdom in 2008, Cartesian Dreams in 2009, Big Money in 2011, and Precious Metal in 2014.

The band has toured relentlessly in Europe and the States in support of their releases and have now become a true staple of the Hard Rock scene on both continents. House Of Lords stands for superb hooks and majestic atmospheres that bring back the memories of their stellar debut album, monumental guitar riffs and a production to die for. All these ingredients you will find on Saint Of The Lost Souls which shines from the first second to the last!

Sinheresy have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their new album Domino. Following the critically acclaimed debut Paint The World, with this new effort Sinheresy have added new strengths to their unique blend of Metal, ranging from the symphonic sound of Nightwish and Within Temptation to the Progressive approach of Symphony X and Children Of Bodom. Superbly mixed to bring out warmth and depth, their new work is a treat for the ears on multiple levels. Not only is the overall sound excellent, but the solid engineering also serves to highlight the strength of Cecilia and Stefano's vocal performances and displays the raw talents of the band to their fullest. This is how mastering engineer Mika Jussila of legendary Finnvox Studios commented: "I keep this album as a good example of a modern metal record but don't want to categorize any more. All tracks are produced and arranged in a very cool way and the sound is modern, punchy and powerful. Listening this you feel happy and energetic at the same time."

Complex at times and elegantly simple at others, Domino is a strong evolutionary step that blends new elements with old, enhancing rather than changing the band's traditional sound. Domino will see the light of the day on April 7th, 2017.

Nuclear Blast / DIMMU BORGIR announce new double-DVD 'Forces Of The Northern Night'
Posted by: Denis / 12.01.2017
Norwegian symphonic Black Metal giants, DIMMU BORGIR, finally emerge from the depths of darkness, to mark 2017 as the year of their monumental return. On April 14th, they will finally release their highly-anticipated DVD Forces Of The Northern Night, containing two of the band's live rituals: Their legendary show in Oslo, showing DIMMU BORGIR on stage with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, as well as the entire performance at Wacken Open Air 2012 with almost 100 musicians on stage. Both concerts present a spectacular sound scenario of raging Black Metal in front of an epic orchestral landscape and the band's unique visuals.

This authentic combination of the beauty and the beast has long seemed like a natural evolution for fans, but much time, arrangements and commitment were necessary to put this gigantic production into reality and fill the stage with 90 minutes of mindblowing sets per night. The shows guide the fans through classics from the band's discography - from the majestic finisher Mourning Palace to the stomping manifesto Puritania and the haunting Gateways... Norway's DIMMU BORGIR know how to leave nothing behind but pure ashes.

"For us, this is the pinnacle of our career so far. As a band, we've always used a lot of symphonic elements in our music. But we haven't been able to use a real orchestra. We've had to use samples, synthesizers and so on, so this was a huge, awesome experience for us!" states front man Shagrath.

On April 14th, both concert plus a bonus documentary feature will be available in many different formats that will soon be revealed.

And beware... this is not the only gem that the year 2017 holds for DIMMU BORGIR.

Posted by: Denis / 12.01.2017
Dutch symphonic Metal band EPICA have launched the new music video for Beyond The Matrix taken from the band's latest album The Holographic Principle.

Frontwoman Simone Simons comments: "The energy that lives within Beyond the Matrix is extremely contagious. It will sweep you off your feet when the melodies enter your mind. The video embodies the spirit and liveliness of EPICA. Transcend together with us and shine past the sky."

EPICA's guitar player Mark Jansen continues "Beyond the Matrix is one of my favorite tracks to play live from our new album, as it makes the crowd go wild, so I'm happy we are releasing a video of it. We have managed to catch the energy of the song and translate it into images (& words). The song is dealing about us humans, being caught in a matrix (an illusion) because of our excessive thinking. We have lost control over our lives and accept the illusion as 'the one reality'. But if we manage to free ourselves from those shackles and become masters of our thoughts again, we can make a huge step forward in collective consciousness and will be able to look beyond the borders of our matrix. Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride!!!"

A year ago to the day, MOTÖRHEAD fronter and Rock legend Lemmy Kilmister passed away and his death marked the end of an era of sex, drugs and Rock'n'Roll. While fans all over the world raise their Jacky Coke-glasses today to honour him, Metalqueen DORO came up with a special idea to celebrate the life and legacy of her colleague, but also very close friend Lemmy. In this new video to the song It Still Hurts that she recorded with him in 2012, you can find the clip footage and many pictures of several decades from both Metal legends working together and sharing the spirit of heavy music.

DORO's official statement about this new clip: "It's been exactly one year since the world of Rock lost on of its greatest characters - and one of my best friends. Lemmy Kilmister. One year and we miss him so much. Therefore it was our great wish to release this video with a compilation of our greatest moments that we had together. Here it is. In memory of Lemmy, one of the greatest Rock'n'Roll heroes!
It still hurts!
R.I.P., my dear friend - we love you."

Nuclear Blast / AMORPHIS announce new tour edition
Posted by: Denis / 27.12.2016
Finnish masters of melancholic Progressive Metal, AMORPHIS, recently played special shows ('An Evening With Friends' @ Juhlaviikot - Huvila) in Helsinki, where they have performed a very special setlist with guest musicians and friends. These shows will be part of the new tour edition the band is announcing today! This package includes the entire album Under The Red Cloud with two bonus songs as well as the live tracks in Helsinki.

"We were honoured to take part in the Helsinki Festival in Huvila, so therefore we wanted to do something special for that particular night", states guitarist Tomi Koivusaari. "The gig itself happened in a large tent in the very center of Helsinki on a late summer evening. The Huvila-tent has quite long history, so there was already some excitement in the air beforehand. We wanted to invite some guests to feature on that show - musicians we already had worked with during these years and musicians we have a huge respect for, so Sakari Kukko, Pekko Käppi and Anneke van Giersbergen joined us on that evening with friends. Originally Aleah Starbridge was supposed to join as well, as she sings on the Under The Red Cloud album, but sadly she passed away before that. It was surely a night to remember!"

Nuclear Blast / ANTHRAX announce 'For All Kings' tour edition; release 'Suzerain' lyric video
Posted by: Denis / 27.12.2016
Legendary New York thrashers ANTHRAX will tour Europe for the band's first full European headline tour in more than a decade. On all of these dates and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release, ANTHRAX will perform live, start-to-finish, their classic 1987 album Among The Living alongside fan favourites from throughout the band's rich 35-year career. Check out the tour trailer.

In support of this upcoming trek, ANTHRAX will release a limited tour edition of their latest studio album For All Kings on February 17th. As well as the regular album it will include Vice Of the People (previously only available in Japan) as well as a bonus disc of demo versions.

A few days ago, the band launched a new lyric video for the track Suzerain which can also be found on For All Kings.

Drummer Charlie Benante commented on the bonus material: "We've included some of the demos from For All Kings in this package. We wanted to show the evolution of the songs. The idea of a song can start from a guitar riff or a thought in your head. It then takes shape and goes from my music to Scott's lyrics to Frank and Joey's ideas and melodies to Jon's lead guitar. This is our way of making ANTHRAX music - ENJOY!"

German Thrash titans KREATOR have released the second video trailer for their upcoming album, Gods Of Violence. Watch KREATOR mainman Mille Petrozza talk about the working with producer Jens Bogren, the featured guests and the album's production process.

The band recently announced an exclusive release show on January 26 at Musik & Frieden in Berlin, Germany.

It took months in the studio for the band Heaven's Guardian from Goiânia/Brazil to produce a work that could gather everything they glimpsed when they passed through radical changes in 2013. With the addition of new players and boasting two singers, new possibilities were open. Now, Olívia Bayer and Flávio Mendez (vocals), Ericsson Marin and Luiz Maurício (guitars), Murilo Ramos (bass), Arthur Albuquerque (drums) and Everton Marin (keyboards) present the album Signs.

Recorded at Mr.Som studio (São Paulo, Brazil) the album was produced by Marcello Pompeu and mixed and mastered by Heros Trench, both professionals who conquered a Latin-American Grammy in 2010. Heavier, without losing its melodic essence, Signs pictures this new phase with different guise and identity than what the now septet Heaven's Guardian was doing previously in its career.

Besides playing in the country's greatest venues like Via Funchal (SP) and Claro Hall (RJ) and playing alongside legends like Saxon, Megadeth, Blind Guardian, Sepultura, Helmet, Tim 'Ripper' Owens, Heaven's Guardian was the first Heavy Metal group from the Brazilian state of Goiás to get approval from 'Projeto de Incentivo a Cultura da Prefeitura de Goiânia' (City of Goiania Cultural Incentive Project). Such fact made possible to finish the DVD X Years On The Road – Live At Gyn Arena, which celebrated ten years on the road and had the largest audience for a Rock group at Goiânia Arena Stadium with 4 thousand people present in the event held in May 7, 2005.

Their first record was Roll of Thunder (1999) which drew attention from various labels. Thus, Heaven's Guardian established a partnership with Brazilian record company Megahard Records, that released their first album, Strava (2001). Critics liked some melodic and heavy tracks like Fighters, Freedom, Hope.

In 2004 was released D.O.L.L. till then their most labored and audacious work, produced by Paulo Anhaia – four times Latin Grammy winner who worked with bands like Wizards, Monster, Tuatha de Dannan. D.O.L.L. was released in many countries including Japan, where Burrn! Magazine called it 'essential for Rock fans' and gave it 9 out of 10.

In 2008, with the departure of singer Carlos Zema, Mario Linhares (Dark Avenger, Harllequin) took over and remained in the band until 2011. Even with changes, work and dedication are characteristics that never lacked in Heaven's Guardian and new album, Signs is proof of that. The group now intends to start a series of shows and register their performances.

Century Media / Voivod launch music video for 'Post Society'
    Posted by: Denis / 26.12.2016
After completing a comprehensive European tour together with Century Media Records labelmates Entombed A.D., Canadian Progressive sci-fi Metal innovators VOIVOD are wrapping up a busy year of promoting their latest release entitled Post Society. VOIVOD has just posted a music video for the title track, which was shot by Dirk Behlau / Beastwood Film Production (Spiritual Beggars, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, etc.) during VOIVOD's appearance at Leafmeal Festival in Germany.

And while continuing work on their upcoming studio album, VOIVOD drummer Michel Away Langevin checked in with a comment about the video as well as a wrap-up of the year 2016 as follows: "This video is the best ending of a very productive and crazy year! It started in February-March with a North American East Coast tour with Vektor, Eight Bells and Black Fast. Then the West Coast and across Canada in May-June with Child Bite and King Parrot. We were joined by Jason Newsted in San Francisco for a two basses rendition of the song Voivod.
Shortly after getting back home we drove down to Montebello, QC, to perform at the ever-growing Amnesia Rockfest, where I watched a very tight and energetic show by our friends D.R.I.
In July we flew to the Hell and Heaven Fest in Mexico City, where we shared the stage with Sepultura and witnessed an intense performance by Suicidal Tendencies with Dave Lombardo on drums! My highlight was watching Twisted Sister in the middle of tens of thousands of people singing We're Not Gonna Take It. We also visited the pyramids of Teotihuacan.
In August it was time to go to Europe for a few festivals and club shows. We got a great crowd reaction at Into The Grave Festival in The Netherlands, where we ran into our old pals Carcass.
In October we flew to St. John's in the Canadian Maritimes to play our first show ever in Newfoundland. The next day we played the Halifax Pop Explosion in Nova Scotia, came back home right on time to repack and flew to Europe again for a fun tour with Entombed A.D.! We made a stop at the Leafmeal Festival in Dortmund, Germany, where we shot the Post Society video with Dirk Behlau / Beastwood Film Production.
We wrote some songs on the road, demoed them between tours, and now we will spend the winter writing some more, just to make sure there will be a brand new Voïvod album in 2017. Thanks for coming to the shows, enjoy the video, which is very representative of the good time we have on stage, and see you next year!"

InsideOut Music / Pain of Salvation launch second video/single 'Reasons' off upcoming album 'In the Passing Light of Day'; North American tour announced
    Posted by: Denis / 26.12.2016
Swedish Progressive Rock/Metal innovators Pain of Salvation are soon to release their upcoming studio album In the Passing Light of Day on Friday the 13th of January, 2017 via their longtime label partners InsideOutMusic.

Therefore, the album's second single, Reasons, as well as a dynamic video for it are being debuted now. The clip was produced by Joakim S. Hammond and Love Fagerstedt for Lynx Pictures.

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw checked in to comment about the song/video as follows: "We are proud to present the second video from our upcoming album IN THE PASSING LIGHT OF DAY. It's a hard and complex track, but is somehow catchy enough to make people go around humming it hours after they've heard it. I left one of the early demos in my car over the weekend, and the next week I heard my kids hum it while they were playing app games on their phones. Or, as Daniel Bergstrand put it, 'It's awesome - it's so catchy that you can't resist singing it, but it drives you crazy because at the same time you can't grasp the weird rhythms enough to do it right!' hahaha. The video is a bit different too, because I'm in it, but with all my clothes on and not having sex with anyone or even holding severed body parts of any kind. How weird is that? For those who think that's just too meek, I can offer some comfort to that, by revealing that four of us were bleeding after only two or three takes of the video. Who was the one who didn't bleed? That's a mystery for you to solve and discuss. 'Because I hate every motherfucking word you say!' Lyrically the song is about the love."

On the live-front, Pain of Salvation have just announced a North American tour and also added a show in Cologne/Germany to their European run, for which fellow Swedes Port Noir have been added as support act. Here are all dates announced so far:

Nuclear Blast / SEPULTURA - unveil new music video for 'Phantom Self'
    Posted by: Denis / 23.12.2016
Brazilian Heavy Metal icons, SEPULTURA, will unleash their upcoming studio album, Machine Messiah, on January 13th through Nuclear Blast. With their new music video Phantom Self they provide another thrilling look into their 14th studio release and deliver haunting images and sociocultural criticism in this clip directed by Mauricio Eça.

"Phantom Self starts with a short intro based on the Brazilian rhythm 'Maracatú', original from the Northeast region of Brazil", explains mastermind Andreas Kisser. "We mixed this very Brazilian sound with violins performed by a Tunisian violin ensemble, the Myriad Orchestra. This was a suggestion from Jens Bogren, the producer of the album, who worked with this orchestra before and he thought it could be a nice combination. We used the violins on different parts of the song and that opened a lot of new possibilities, specially for my guitar parts, it was great to have that conversation between guitar and violins making the part even more special. It's a very heavy song, with a lot of groove, one of the most complete songs we ever worked with and it's taking SEPULTURA to a new level!"

Singer Derrick Green adds: "The lyrical idea came from an article that Andreas sent me. It was about a young man who had everything going for him and unfortunately was in a horrific car accident in the 70's. After the accident he lost his entire idea of who he was. No one could figure out what was going on inside his mind. He would have glimpses of his former self but doctors realized that chemical elements of his mind had shifted. He had become an entirely different person within himself. There is this element of change that exists within all of us. This ability is important for our evolution as human beings to move forward even after traumatic events."

    AFM Records / Solution .45 line-up change
    Posted by: Denis / 21.12.2016
Some news in the Solution .45 camp: As of today our brother and partner-in-crime Patrik Gardberg is no longer a part of Solution .45, for reasons which Patrik is elaborating further on in his official statement here below. For the record, there is no bad blood or drama or anything like that involved in this split whatsoever. This is very much a mutual decision, if anything. We are all still the best of friends and we will keep on writing music and play together in our other bands and projects.

"Hello. This will be short yet concise.
The time has come for me to step down as a member of the brotherhood of Solution .45. There are things in my life that need to be taken care of - things that need my absolute focus. My family is the focal point in this decision and is always my main priority. No matter what. It pains me to leave my brothers in the band, but this needs to be done, with no bad blood between us whatsoever.
I want to thank you, our fans, for all of your support throughout the years. It means the world to me and the band. Solution .45 has just started its journey and will go on creating incredible music. That's for sure.
So, once again, thank you all - the band, the fans, the label - you're all awesome! This has been a blast!
    Sincerely, Patrik"

The band would like to thank Patrik for his years in the band, his awesome contributions and work and wish him nothing but the best in the future! Then again, like stated above, Solution .45 will still write music and play together, regardless of the band, so this split only marks the end of one shared journey among many. With that said, they'd like to welcome Patrik's replacement - long-time friend and talented guitarist/songwriter/sound engineer Ronnie Björnström - to the ranks! Here's a few words from the man himself:

"It's an honor to be a part of Solution .45. When Christian asked me if i wanted to join forces with them i didn't hesitate. I look forward to making music in the studio and playing the songs live. I've always been into extreme music, playing with AeoN before, so this will be a nice and inspiring challenge for me. Ronnie"

Century Media / Havok announce 4th studio album 'Conformicide'; North American headlining tour in February
    Posted by: Denis / 21.12.2016
Thrash-Metal stalwarts HAVOK are thrilled to announce the details of their upcoming new studio album, titled Conformicide.

The Denver based group will unleash their fourth full-length record on March 10th, 2017 via Century Media, along with touring in both North America and Europe next year to support the release.

Conformicide is the follow up to the band's 2013 effort, Unnatural Selection. Discussing what fans can expect from the new record, David Sanchez (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) comments: "Conformicide is our most dynamic, heavy, thoughtful, musical, and sonically-crushing album so far. All four members feel that this is the best Havok album to date. There are a lot of "truth bombs" being dropped on this record and the music absolutely rips!"

Building on Sanchez's comments, Reece Scruggs (lead guitar) adds: "This album swings for the fences in every way. Sonically stunning, technically proficient and lyrically pissed, we've never been represented at our best until this moment in time. We cannot wait for the world to react to Conformicide."

In the shop for almost three years, Havok's Conformicide is undoubtedly their Master of Puppets or Rust in Peace moment. True, the Denver-based rippers have bled out guts, brains, and cash on previous albums Unnatural Selection (2013), Time is Up (2011), and Burn (2009), but none of them compare to the ear-destroying, mind-flaying Conformicide.

"Conformicide is faster and way angrier than Unnatural Selection", says vocalist/guitarist/founding member David Sanchez. "On this album, the music is very layered and dynamic and the lyrics say a lot about the current state of the world."

HAVOK will return to the road in 2017 with extensive touring planned in both North American and Europe. Expressing the band's level of enthusiasm to bring their fans an even heavier and more energized live show than ever before, Sanchez states, "We can't wait to perform some new music live and present a show that people won't forget! Expect to see Havok like you've never seen before. We're ready to destroy!"

It's almost Christmas, but Hammerfall have got a bit of not-so-festive news: due to family commitments, David Wallin will not be able to do any gigs with the band next year and has decided to vacate his drum stool. It is very unfortunate, and Hammerfall wish him all the best with his future career and life. But the band has found a perfect replacement, and they're sure you will embrace him as quickly and warmly as you did David. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, here is the new drummer of HammerFall: Johan Koleberg, formerly of Therion and Randy Piper's Animal. Please welcome him with open arms, as he is a fantastic drummer and an all-around great guy. The band can't wait to get out on the road and show you what this line-up of HammerFall is capable of, they're very excited! So see you at the concerts, it will be a blast!

Nuclear Blast / ACCEPT unveil third trailer for 'Restless & Live'
    Posted by: Denis / 19.12.2016
On January 13th, Heavy Metal titans ACCEPT will deliver their new live package called Restless And Live. This set will not only include the entire show that ACCEPT played at Bang Your Head!!! Festival 2015 on Blu-ray/DVD, but also two live CDs with different recordings from their most recent European tour. Now ACCEPT release a new trailer and in this video, guitarmaster Wolf Hoffmann and producer Andy Sneap talk about choosing and editing content for the live recording and why this DVD/CD-package is both suited for die-hard fans and ACCEPT novices.

"When you are playing a live show like at Bang Your Head!!!, you are concentrating solely on that show so you have a certain song selection - you know you have a festival crowd that you want to please, so you pick the tracks that work best for that event", Wolf explains. "But there are still all these other songs that we have and we thought that if we only do the festival package, they'd be left out. That's why we decided to go through all the recordings and do a separate package of audio tracks and this includes songs that we don't always play at festivals. That's why we have 27 other songs on the two CDs that are totally different to the DVD material."

METALMESSAGE / SLECHTVALK (epic extreme Metal) 'Where Wandering Shadows And Mists Collide'
    Posted by: Denis / 16.12.2016
Dutch EPIC EXTREME METAL band SLECHTVALK started out as a one-man project in 1999 by founder Shamgar. The debut album Falconry was released in 2000 by FEAR DARK and received excellent reviews for its raw and symphonic Black Metal.

A full band was formed (including Jesse Vuerbaert [ex-HEIDEVOLK] as Ohtar) and as such SLECHTVALK recorded and released its 2nd album The War That Plagues The Lands and a Split-CD with the Indonesian Avantgarde Metal act KEKAL in the year 2002. In 2003 SLECHTVALK began performing live, wearing medieval costumes and armour. Due to its unique live-appearance, the band recorded a live-show in 2004, which was released together with the 3rd album At The Dawn Of War in 2005. Between 2006 and 2008 the band underwent some line-up changes, although the group still did some small tours with bands such as MÅNEGARM, SKYFORGER, SUIDAKRA. In 2009 SLECHTVALK signed with WHIRLWIND RECORDS celebrating their 10th anniversary with the compilation album An Era Of Bloodshed. The band released their 4th album A Forlorn Throne in 2010, which was produced by Johan Örnborg (Studio Mega) and mixed & mastered by Jens Bogren (Fascination Street). This album featured guest-vocals by Erik Grawsjö (MÅNEGARM) on several tracks and artwork by Raymond Swanland (known for his work on Magic: The Gathering).

Following the slow demise of WHIRLWIND RECORDS shortly after the release of A Forlorn Throne, the formation sent out submissions to various labels. Although they received some offers, the band decided it was better to record a new album first, because new work sparks the interests more than older work. After having launching a succesfull crowdfunding campaign in 2015, SLECHTVALK recorded their new album Where Wandering Shadows And Mists Collide with producer Lasse Lammert (known for his work on GLORYHAMMER, ALESTORM, SVARTSOT). The noble frontcover artwork was again done by Raymond Swanland.

During the years, SLECHTVALK has shared the stage with many renowned bands in the scene such as: CARACH ANGREN, ELUVEITIE, ENDSTILLE, GLORYHAMMER, HEIDEVOLK, KAMPFAR, MÅNEGARM, SKYFORGER, SUIDAKRA, SWALLOW THE SUN, TYR, VARG, VREID and many more...
    • Release Where Wandering Shadows And Mists Collide, out: Dec. 20th 2016

Century Media / Sanctuary announce 'Inception' album details
    Posted by: Denis / 16.12.2016
Century Media Records and legendary US Metal act SANCTUARY have set February 24th, 2017 as the release date of Inception, the official prequel to 1988's classic debut Refuge Denied. Inception contains presumed lost 1986 studio recordings, which guitarist Lenny Rutledge discovered recently and which were magically restored, remixed and remastered by Zeuss (Queensrÿche, Hatebreed).

Guitarist Lenny Rutledge comments: "I found the masters in my barn. The second floor of the barn is on top of our current recording studio and is very rough and open to the elements. The ground level is where we recorded the bulk of The Year The Sun Died. We found the masters in an unknown box in the barn, full of water and just wasting away."

Zeuss explains further how the Inception album was realized: "I got a call one day and Lenny said that he had discovered these tapes and had them transferred to digital. I was in the area and stopped over to check it out. The recordings were still in decent shape. We agreed that we wanted it to sound as good as possible without taking away from the original vibe and vision of what the band had back then. After a year of mixing on and off we were able to resurrect these original demos. I hope everyone enjoys these recordings as much as I did working on them especially being a huge fan myself."

Recorded in March of 1986 (Soldiers Of Steel, Battle Angels) at Triad Studios in Redmond, Washington and Studio One in White Center between April and July 1986, Inception offers such previously unreleased highlights as Dream of The Incubus and I Am Insane as well as several classic Refuge Denied songs that are burning with fervour and intensity.

Apart from being expanded by art courtesy of Ed Repka, Inception is filled to the brim with tons of rare photos, flyers, early art designs, sketches plus detailed liner notes allowing you to delve deep into SANCTUARY's history.

Inception will be released as Gatefold LP on 180 gram black and limited colored vinyl, includes an extensive LP-size booklet, poster, and the album on CD as additional extra. Apart from that it will be available as Special Edition CD Digipak and digital album.

Lenny concludes: "For me personally, I just wanted fans to be able to hear proper versions of the demos. They had a certain energy that was captured during the early days, maybe even more so than Refuge Denied. It's no secret that you can find these on the internet but the quality is horrible. I think most people are under the impression that these are remastered or re-recorded versions of Refuge..., but this is all a prequel!"

With several European festivals already booked for next year, a new album in the works, Inception being released, 2017 shall be the year when past and future of SANCTUARY unite. Look forward to the next assault of the soldiers of steel!

Deep Purple reveal title, release date and first song from their new album inFinite, the highly anticipated follow up to their most recent worldwide chart topping album NOW What?!.

inFinite will be released on April 7th by earMUSIC. Time For Bedlam, an up-tempo classic Deep Purple song, has just been made available via a lyric video.

A limited edition EP for Time For Bedlam, with non-album songs and unreleased recordings will hit the shops on February 3rd.

A documentary movie, witnessing the songwriting process and the recording of the album with producer Bob Ezrin, has been produced, allowing for the first time for the fans to be part of the private band member interactions in the studio. The movie will be included in some editions of the album and it will be presented before release in various fan events worldwide.

Deep Purple have recently announced their 'Long Goodbye Tour', which will bring the legendary live show once again all over the world.

Deep Purple have not yet answered, in fact, the many questions received by fans from all over the world who are speculating about the meaning of the title inFinite and Long Goodbye.

Singer Ian Gillan has in fact declared: "If you take it literally you may, quite reasonably, think the 'Finite' part of the word describes the life of Deep Purple, with a clear beginning and a nebulous end; but what of the 'in' bit? The word infinite is a three-dimensional double edged sword. It describes something that goes on forever in all directions; not unlike its temporal equivalent 'Eternal', what's that all about?
Stephen Hawking declared (in 'A brief History of Time') that, before the Big Bang there was nothing. That would put the kybosh on the idea of our universe being Infinite, as he provides a starting point, which is not acceptable to the concept. So, Hawking's universe in 'Finite'; by definition; whether he agrees or not.
Ironically, he is quite wrong (scientists always are eventually), therefore the Universe is infinite, which means it will never end, and also means that it never started, and the corollary to that of course is that we don't exist.
There is a metaphysical solution to all this, but it will have to wait until the tour is over because (thanks heavens) there are only 24 hours in a day (for the time being) or 10 hours in a metric day.
    More on that later..."

    Posted by: Denis / 16.12.2016
Finnish Heavy metallers, BATTLE BEAST, announced the release of their 4th studio album, Bringer Of Pain (February 17th, 2017 through Nuclear Blast Records), a few weeks ago. After revealing their European tour with MAJESTY as well as a US tour supporting SABATON with LEAVES' EYES, it's about time for the band to unleash the first track off the album. Watch the music video for King For A Day, directed by Markus Nieminen (Oy Routafilmi AB).

Vocalist Noora Louhimo commented on the song: "I think King For A Day represents the new BATTLE BEAST in the best way - more dramatic orchestration, catchy melodies and riffs, more party Metal and, most of all, entertaining. You can check it out for yourself on the 'Bringer Of Pain' tour. Welcome to the biggest Metal party of BATTLE BEAST!"

Faithsedge have released the video for the song Jennifer, taken from the band's new album Restoration.

Fronted by mastermind singer / songwriter Giancarlo Floridia, the band returns with a stellar line-up featuring Stryper bass player Tim Gaines, Ace Frehley / Mr. Big drummer Matt Starr and former Dokken guitarist Alex De Rosso. Both keys and production have been handled by Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints).

This is how Giancarlo Floridia commented: "I'm happy with Restoration being our most well received album and I'm glad it still keeps pushing forward months after it's release. Jennifer is an important song to me and I'm glad that it's getting to see the light of day as another single/video for the album. I hope you all enjoy it too!"

Faithsedge will also be joining the Blastzone Entertainment roster for a special vinyl record pressing of Restoration to be released next year.
METALMESSAGE / SANDNESS (Hard Rock) new album 'Higher & Higher'
    Posted by: Denis / 15.12.2016
SANDNESS is the striking result of a project which started out in 2008, when two teenage friends, Mark Denkley and Metyou ToMeatyou (bass and drums respectively) decided to form a HARD ROCK band, in order to bring the '80s back to life with original tracks.

The band's line-up went through some changes across the years, and the only one who seemed to have the same ambitions of the founding members was Robby Luckets, who joined the band in 2009 and is now SANDNESS' lead and rhythmic guitar player.

During the last few years the band has achieved a good success both in Italy and abroad, and they had the chance to play as support band for renowned musicians such as Adam Bomb (2010), L.A. Guns (2011) and Tygers Of Pan Tang in 2015.

SANDNESS released their first demo Return To Decadence in 2010, but it's with the second one, Life Without Control (2011), that they started their rise to success all over the world thanks to the digital media. In 2011 SANDNESS went on a short tour in the Latvian capital Riga and in 2012 the rockin' boys played the renowned 'Glam Fest' in Marseilles, France.

In the past few years they also went on several European tours (2013, 2014 and 2015) and gained fans from all over the Continent. Their first official album Like An Addiction, was released worldwide on 5th April 2013 by Sleaszy Rider Records, with which their record contract has been renewed in 2016.

SANDNESS' second album is entitled Higher & Higher (date of release: 16th December 2016).

During the past few years, BLOODBOUND have established themselves as one of the finest Metal acts from their traditionally strong home country - having toured Europe with the likes of Sabaton and U.D.O.. All this experience now shows in War Of Dragons, likely the band's most anthemic, bombastic and fast-paced album ever. War Of Dragons will be available as CD, 2-CD Digipak, ltd. Vinyl & ltd. Box Set.

And BLOODBOUND fulfill another big wish of their fans: the band's first headlining tour is announced! Traditional Heavy Metal band (and AFM label mates) Crystal Viper as well as Thobbe Englund (ex-Sabaton) will complete the package.

"In the past we have toured a lot as a support act to bands like Sabaton, Hammerfall and U.D.O.. We felt that the time was right to do our own tour now so we can give the fans a full concert, not just a short support set", BLOODBOUND's Fredrik Bergh says. "We wanted to have a great package of bands, so we invited our awesome label mates Crystal Viper to join us as co-headliners and as a very special guest we will bring our friend Thobbe Englund (ex-Sabaton) and his brand new killer band! Napalm Records / WARBRINGER unveil first album details
    Posted by: Denis / 14.12.2016
WARBRINGER has continued to evolve throughout its four albums into the one of the most aurally devastating bands in the scene. On March 31st they deliver their monumental 5th record entitled Woe to the Vanquished and make a triumphant step forward on this record. It's an absolute must for ANYONE who's into Metal today.

WARBRINGER singer John Kevill describes the new album musically: "For the music on this record we re-focused ourselves after a lot of the experiments on Empires Collapse, and decided we wanted to make a record that is start-to-finish more merciless, ruthless, and cruel, but also maintains some of the more melodic and progressive sense. What we ended up with is a record that has a lot of traits of classic Thrash but also a lot of extreme Metal, and a rather unique version of that blend. It's overall faster and meaner than anything else we've put out, but also has our biggest and most ambitious song, the 11-minute When the Guns Fell Silent to close the record."

Woe to the Vanquished has been carefully crafted over period of time, and the album was produced and mixed by Mike Plottnikoff (Fear Factory, In Flames), mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Pantera) with cover art by the esteemed Andreas Marschall (Sodom, Blind Guardian, Obituary).

Kevill explains the stunning album artwork, "It is directly based on a photograph from the end of the First World War a grim monument, a pyramid of 12,000 German spiked helmets, right in the middle of New York City. What struck me about the image is firstly how morbid it seems to be celebrating 12,000 dead men and calling it victory."

Kevill, who is studying to be a history professor, comments on the title, Woe to the Vanquished and the story behind it: "The title Woe to the Vanquished comes from early Roman history, before they were the huge empire they became. In 390 BC, a host of Gauls led by a warlord called Brennus attacked Rome, and captured all the city except the Capitoline Hill. From this hill the defeated Romans made a bargain, they would pay 1,000 pounds of gold for the Gallic army to leave the city with no further bloodshed. The Romans bring the gold before Brennus, who uses his own scales to measure it. On the Gaul's scales, the Roman's thousand pounds of gold measured to be less, which led the Romans to complain that the scale was rigged (it probably was). Responding to this, Brennus speaks 'Vae Victis' (Woe to the Vanquished) and throws his sword on the counterweight. Because the Romans lost, they have to pay the rigged sum of gold as well as the weight of the sword, to add insult to injury. The irony here is that vowing this type of humiliation would never happen again, Rome went on to become an ancient war machine conquering and subjugating most of the old world. On the record Woe to the Vanquished is spoken in an ironic, mocking tone - the defeated are trampled and time marches on, uncaring, and forgets they ever existed."

"One of the great things about Heavy Metal as a genre is you can express tougher subject material than 'I met a (boy/girl) and it was (happy/sad)'. I looked for the most monolithic evil I could find to write about with this destructive, intense music... and I did not have to look any further than reality. Forget Satan, that's a children's story. Real evil is in the hearts of men."

The band has released a special extended making-of the album video.

Rip out the cables, tear out the cords, destroy your laptops, and smash your smartphones. Cellador returns with a vengeance, exploding onto the world circuits with its massively anticipated album Off The Grid!.
br /> Meticulously crafted at the helm of founding member, songwriter, and producer Chris Petersen, the long awaited follow up to the critically acclaimed Enter Deception is finally here, setting the bar even higher and faster on its trademark brand of steroid injected, high intensity power metal music. An allegory to the band's free spirited nature, Off The Grid musically conceptualizes a self-empowered approach to living, including tearing yourself free from the hive-mindedness of an increasingly collective thinking technological society, and paying tribute to the often neglected original personality and identity we retain within ourselves.

Spiked with a unique ferocity and infectious melody, this is an album not for the feint hearted. Within its audible depths the band continues the high energy Power and Speed Metal of its previous album, while adding more clarity, more focused vision, and a cohesiveness never before achieved in its songwriting until now.

Tracing its roots back to the early 2000's, Cellador has continuously persisted as a near antithesis to the ever fickle American Metal scene. With their brand of high speed power metal, soaring vocals, catchy songwriting and intense live show, the band continues to buckle the changing trends and stick out like a sore thumb. Upon the release of its critically acclaimed debut album Enter Deception, critics quickly hailed the band as the new 'Kings of American Power Metal' with universally positive reviews across hundreds of news outlets, and seeing the band tour all over North America and Japan. Quickly the band transcended beyond normal barriers of the Power Metal genre and enjoys a near cult-like status to this day. The band's unique ability to draw fans of all types far has led to many touring opportunities, including sharing the stage with the likes of Trivium, Helloween, Sonata Arctica, Queensryche, Gamma Ray, Bullet For My Valentine, Behemoth, Hatchet, Havok, Vale of Pnath, Protest The Hero, Moonspell, Amaranthe, and many others.

Return to present day where after several years of hype and enthusiasm, the next opus is ready to be unleashed worldwide. Signing with Scarlet Records in 2016, Cellador again takes the Metal spotlight with its latest release.

Buckle up and hold tight, this bullet train of an album has no brakes!

Off The Grid was mixed and mastered by Peter Rutcho at Damage Studios (Havok, Revocation, Vomitron, Armory) in Southbridge, MA with artwork created by Colin Marks at Rain Song Design. The album will see the light of the day on March 10, 2017.

Nuclear Blast / SEPULTURA release lyric video of 'I Am The Enemy'
    Posted by: Denis / 12.12.2016
Brazilian Heavy Metal icons, SEPULTURA, will unleash their upcoming studio album, Machine Messiah, on January 13th through Nuclear Blast. Now the band have released the lyric video of first digital single, I Am The Enemy.

    Andreas Kisser states:
"The song I Am The Enemy was one of the last songs we worked on before going to Sweden to record the album, it's really simple and straight forward with a strong influence of the hardcore scene of the 90's.
The lyrics talk about ourselves as human beings, with concepts and pre-concepts implanted in our heads through education, religion, the environment and all of our own experiences. We are the problem and the solution, do not blame anything or anyone else but yourself, you are your own enemy. Face yourself, rethink your life and then you'll have a chance to make a better world for yourself.
We are playing the song live already and the reaction is being amazing, now you all have the chance to listen to the album version, play it loud!"

METALMESSAGE / NORTHERN LINES (Instrumental Progressive Fusion Rock) 2nd album 'The Fearmonger'
    Posted by: Denis / 09.12.2016
NORTHERN LINES come together as a band at the end of 2012, starting their activity in 2013. The multiple outstanding Italian formation performs a special as interesting, refreshing and listenable kind of INSTRUMENTAL PROGRESSIVE FUSION ROCK.

The band consists of Cristiano Schirò on drums, Alberto Lo Bascio on guitar and Stefano Silvestri on bass. The three sophisticated musicians decide to give life to the project because of their necessity to have a free musical space. Free from trending patterns, son of modern times but with roots solidly anchored in the 70s, real cultural heaven from which the three of them feel at home.

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, but also The Aristocrats and Rush, this is their field of study and listening. To this initial piece of the puzzle, they add a sense of humor and self-irony, playing around inside of their music, alternating revisited classic patterns (maybe in odd time signatures), with changes of tempo and style.

All of this is delivered through a sincere Hard Rock approach, without the need of too much sonic-artifacts. It's not the kind of Prog music to be connected with the concept of Suite, but rather that of synthesis.

Guitarist Alberto Lo Bascio and drummer Cristiano Schirò came to know each other, and shortly after started collaborating, in 2008, recording three singles together. The musical collaboration between bassist Stefano Silvestri and drummer Cristiano began in 2010, when they started playing together in a classic Rock project, recording an EP.

In May/June of 2016, NORTHERN LINES began recording their second studio album at Music-Up Recording Studio, in Rome. It's a different approach from their first work Farts from SETI Code, rich of comical randomness and imbued with a 'playfully' mood.

Their second longplay-release finds its identity in the form of a concept album. Death is the leading theme, a death seen through the eyes of fear, a paralyzing emotion, but of surprising effect nonetheless.

The Fearmonger (date of release: January 2017) sees the addition of piano, synth and hammond sections, which make up the pivotal points of the creative variation from NORTHERN LINES.

Deathless Legacy are going to release their third album Dance With Devils on January 27th, 2016 on Scarlet Records. The album gives voice to the witches who over the centuries have been mistreated, humiliated, even burned. With its eleven tracks, it collects the most horrific stories of black magic rituals, stories that are lost in the mists of time, a Sabbath of pure horror and black emotions, dealing with ignorance, superstition, religion.

Deathless Legacy released their debut album Rise From The Grave in 2014. A summary of the horror and the macabre haunting their creepy minds, this talented group of young musicians was able to create a hazy, powerful and captivating sound, which they like to call Horror Metal. In June 2014 Deathless Legacy were chosen as the opening band for Rob Zombie in Milan, while in September 2014 Alessio Lucatti (aka Alex Van Eden) from Vision Divine joined the macabre circus. In May 2015 the band won the Italian Wacken Metal Battle and in August of the same year they hit the most important stage a metal band could dream of: Wacken Open Air in Northern Germany. After signing a new deal with Scarlet Records, Deathless legacy released the second chapter in their fast-rising career, The Gathering, in 2016, which allowed them to tour incessantly for the most part of the year. Dance With Devils was conceived during that summer.

LUNAR SHADOW to release 'Far From Light' on Cruz Del Sur Music
    Posted by: Denis / 08.12.2016
LUNAR SHADOW is a young German band that we think perfectly incarnates the spirit of Cruz Del Sur Music.

Led by guitarist Max 'Savage' Birbaum, they have worked their way to the debut LP with patience and extreme dedication. After the release of their first EP Triumphator in 2015 (nominated 'Demo Of The Month' on German Rock Hard magazine) LUNAR SHADOW played a number of selected live shows including Harder Than Steel and other appearances together with Atlantean Kodex, Dark Forest, Argus.

One year after there are tales of strange sounds in the hills. Chariots are being prepared for war. Women and children are fearful. LUNAR SHADOW have returned!

Far From Light delivers eight brand new songs for a playing time of over 60 minutes. Epic, melodic, thoughtful and proudly regressive. The way we like it!

Far From Light will be released in Europe on February 24, 2017, an American release date has been set for March 10, 2017.

It is no secret that CYCLONE TEMPLE are one of our favorite classic thrash acts here at Divebomb Records. The label is excited to present a deluxe edition of their debut album, I Hate Therefore I Am, which features a companion CD of unreleased demos/live tracks entitled Land Of The Greed, Home Of The Depraved. The set is limited to 500 units worldwide.

To tell the story of CYCLONE TEMPLE, one must begin with Znöwhite. Formed in 1982 by siblings Greg Fulton (guitar) and Tony Heath (drums) along with their cousin, Curtis Fulton (bass), Znöwhite eventually welcomed singer Nicole Lee and became one of the more promising Speed Metal acts in the U.S. Throughout the mid-'80s, the Chicago-based outfit issued two EPs and a live album before signing with Roadracer Records for the release of their critically acclaimed album, Act of God, in 1988.

Following lineup changes that found Fulton surrounded by an all-new cast consisting of Scott Schafer (bass), John Slattery (drums), and powerhouse ex-Hammeron vocalist Brian Troch, a name change was imminent. Rechristened as CYCLONE TEMPLE, the group signed on with Combat Records and entered Normandy Sound in Warren, RI to track their debut album, I Hate Therefore I Am, with engineer Tom Soares.

A soulful masterpiece of Thrash, I Hate Therefore I Am arrived in stores in 1991, and CYCLONE TEMPLE toured with a variety of acts before being unceremoniously dismissed from their label during a Sony takeover. As such, the groundbreaking creativity, intelligence, emotion, and power of I Hate Therefore I Am unjustly failed to make its mark. A frustrated Troch walked away, and CYCLONE TEMPLE soldiered on to release an EP (Building Errors in the Machine, 1993) with singer Marco Salinas, and follow-up album My Friend Lonely with yet another vocalist, Sonny DeLuca before throwing in the towel in 1994.

But, it's never too late to have one's mind completely blown to bits by a criminally underrated Thrash classic such as I Hate Therefore I Am, so now, over 25 years later and for the first time since 1999 Divebomb Records is proud to make I Hate Therefore I Am once again available on CD. Remastered by Jamie King at The Basement Recording, the disc will be packaged with a retrospective essay featuring brand new commentary from ALL FOUR members; plus nearly 20 reverential quotes contributed by members of Aftermath, Broken Hope, and Sindrome (among others), as well as authors from Decibel, Rock Hard,, and many more. You'll also find a reprinted interview feature from Detonator fanzine #2, conducted by Starkweather vocalist Rennie Resmini in 1991. For the fans, by the fans!

With Brian Troch on vocals in 1989, and still operating as Znöwhite the old name remained until the group signed their deal with Combat Records an eight-song outing was recorded on a four-track in the band's practice spot at the Space Place in Chicago. The sessions were in preparation for what was to become Znöwhite's Land of the Greed, Home of the Depraved full-length—songs that would largely see the light of day two years later on CYCLONE TEMPLE's debut album, I Hate Therefore I Am, in 1991.

Also in 1991—and still with Troch CYCLONE TEMPLE entered Medical Records with Brian Mitchell to lay down rough demos for the Building Errors in the Machine EP. These recordings finally lend insight into the 'what ifs' long-pondered by fans yearning to have heard Brian's soulful rasp on CYCLONE TEMPLE's later efforts. Of note is his handling of the harmonies during the chorus of Down the Drain, or the arrangements in Me, Myself & I — one of the catchiest tunes from the group's post-Troch discography.

Few outside of the band themselves have ever heard these rare recordings, so 25-plus years later, it's incredibly exciting and hard to believe that Divebomb Records has been able to excavate these lost treasures from the personal collection of bassist Scott Schafer himself!

BLACK SITES to release debut album on February 17 on Mascot Records

An aura of mystique surrounds Black Sites. The band is a super group of sorts, featuring some of Chicago's finest players from the underground Metal scene. The band features former cult Thrash band Trials-members Mark Sugar (vocals/guitar) and Ryan Bruchert (guitar), plus John Picillo from Without Waves and Immortal Birds on bass, and Chris Avgerin, formerly of Autonomy and Lost Dog, on drums.

The four-piece band draws inspiration from a panoramic pedigree of classic and modern Metal and Hard Rock influences including Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, 1970s Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Fates Warning, Motörhead, Queensrÿche, Voivod, Hammers Of Misfortune, Dawnbringer.

SPV / VIRGIN STEELE re-release 'Visions Of Eden' in February 2017
    Posted by: Denis / 07.12.2016
SPV / Steamhammer is proud to re-release on February 17th, 2017 Virgin Steele's Visions Of Eden as a 2CD digipak. The first disc will contain a remixed version of the entire album and the second disc will contain a remastered presentation of the original version. The package will also include a huge booklet with new liner notes and unseen photos by David DeFeis.

David DeFeis comments on the re-release:
"The Barbaric-Romantic Power Metal band VIRGIN STEELE will re-issue their eleventh studio album VISIONS OF EDEN. The music from this album first appeared on the Theatrical Stage in what was already the third 'Metal-Opera' delivered by David DeFeis to the Landestheatre Scwaben of Memmingen Germany, the first being Klytaimnestra Oder Der Fluch Der Atriden (based on the two VIRGIN STEELE albums THE HOUSE OF ATREUS – ACT I, & THE HOUSE OF ATREUS ACT II). Due to the success of the first 'Opera', that work was quickly followed by Die Rebellen, an epic based on THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN & HELL & INVICTUS albums. Both of the first 2 'Operas', Klytaimnestra Oder Der Fluch Der Atriden, & Die Rebellen premiered to huge success in Germany, and were extravagantly staged and taken on tour. In 2003 the VISIONS OF EDEN work premiered on the theatrical stage as 'LILITH' again to great success, with over 50 performances to its credit. While many groups have presented 'Metal-Operas' on record, VIRGIN STEELE is the only group that I know of that has managed to present not just one, but three 'Metal-Operas' on the Theatrical Stage! The band even managed to get noticed by the 'straight press', such as Der Speigel and Opera News! In the truest sense VIRGIN STEELE combine classical music and subject matter with true Power Metal in their own inimitable fashion.
In the work Visions Of Eden – The Lilith Project – A Barbaric Romantic Movie Of The Mind... contrary to what the title implies, this album promises no fullfillment of the utopian dream even though the orchestration again shows lavish full-metallic creativity and the band re-demonstrates its compositional strength throughout. Its composer David DeFeis, explains... VISIONS OF EDEN is most definitely not about happiness, peace, contentment or Eternal tranquility... it is in fact the complete opposite. It is about disorder, strife, struggle, dominance, the annihilation of a culture, the annihilation of a way of Life, and the violation & annihilation of a human being. I have based this Work around the history of the destruction of Paganism, Gnosticism and the desecration & eradication of the Goddess Principle that once dwelt so freely within Divinity. A massive blow was struck against these early beliefs, by first, the rise of the 'Father-God' principle, and second by the development of 'organized' religions. The VISIONS OF EDEN album concerns LILITH, first wife of Adam, (he of Biblical fame, as in Adam & Eve and the apple, the snake and all that fig leaf and rib propaganda), plus Ancient Sumerian Myths concerning Lilith's relationship with Adam, Eve and God. However, that being said, in actuality, it is really about today... modern times and how we might have arrived here at this strange place we now currently inhabit..."

Nuclear Blast / PäNZER reveal new line-up and work on second album
    Posted by: Denis / 07.12.2016
After their debut attack Send Them All To Hell in 2014, it became a little quiet around the Heavy Metal supergroup PÄNZER. But the soldiers around DESTRUCTION frontman Schmier never sleep and now they announced that they are working on new songs again - with their new line-up! After the departure of Herman Frank (ACCEPT), PÄNZER recruited Pontus Norgren of HAMMERFALL to help out their warfare, as well as V.O. Pulver (G.U.R.D., POLTERGEIST) on guitar, who already helped out on the latest live shows and now became a fulltime member of PÄNZER.

"After producing the debut with PANZER, the guys asked me to help them out live to provide the double axe-attack on stage", remembers V.O. Pulver. "Of course I took the chance to rock out with my buddies. And when the opportunity came up to join them permanently, I didn't hesitate to accept and now I can't wait to play the sound of my youth!"

Pontus was just as excited to join the Heavy Metal warmachine: "It was not a hard decision when I got asked to join the PÄNZER project, it was a straight YES! To be able to create music with good friends is the most important thing in my world and in this band, having fun when making music, is number one. I'm looking forward to all the craziness that the future is going to bring with these guys. So let's kick some serious..!"

Soldiers and fans of the band can expect a loud comeback in 2017, since Schmier already reveals some great news about the band's future plans: "(THE GERMAN) PANZER was always about some friends jamming their fave music, without any pressure of the business and exaggerated expectations. We have decided to release this brand new song Satan's Hollow for the fans as a statement, because people ask me all the time: 'Will PANZER go on? This track simply shows: We are creative and working on a new record for 2017! The next album will continue our tribute to our roots with pure fuckin' METAL! Oh and one more little change: as we have a Swedish and Swiss member now, just simply call us PÄNZER!"

To get a first impression of PÄNZER's brandnew sound, check out a snippet of the material for the next album here.

To give the fans an impression of the new PÄNZER line-up with the brand new track Satan's Hollow, Schmier comments: "It stands for all our trademarks: Straight-in-your-face melting Metal with an old school melodic vibe - pure energy and shredding lead guitars! We pay tribute to the music we grew up with. I hope our fans enjoy this new song as much as we do - expect the new album before summer 2017!!!"

Pure Steel Records / ASSASSIN'S BLADE 'Agents of Mystification' limited vinyl edition cover, tracklist, releasedate: 27th January 2017
    Posted by: Denis / 05.12.2016
The release date of the ASSASSIN'S BLADE album Agents of Mystification on limited vinyl is January 27th, 2017. The pre-order phase will start on January 13th, 2017 in label's webshop.

Ever since they heard the rumour that Jacques Bélanger was working on a new project, the first since his EXCITER days (The Dark Command, Blood of Tyrants, New Testament), the Metal legions have been expecting a new classic. Bélanger had joined forces with a trio of Swedish musicians, bassist/song writer/lyricist Peter Svensson (Void Moon, TRAP), guitarist/song writer David Stranderud (ex-PORTRAIT, INSTIGATOR, TRAP) and drummer Marcus Rosenkvist (Void Moon) to write some exciting new material. During the recording, Janne Stark (known from Overdrive and author of the Encyclopedia of Swedish Heavy Metal books) contributed with guitar solos on most of the songs. The result is simply amazing. Make no mistake: Bélanger's voice is as powerful as it ever was, with its typical US-Metal-like high pitched screams! Now first, let it be known that Assassin's Blade material totally stands up to its Exciter influence, a trait that is most obvious in songs like The Demented Force, Transgression, Agents of Mystification. In Autumn Serenade or Crucible of War, Bélanger voice might even remind you of Bruce Dickinson, while the song Prophet's Urn will certainly appeal to younger fans of bands like TRIAL or PORTRAIT. Then, it is back to the thunderous mid-tempo Dreadnought and to the metallic Nowhere Riders, in which we hear a perfect mix of EXCITER and AGENT STEEL that will obviously appeal to masses of Metal fans.

As if it were not enough, those who want epic material will be pleased with Herostratos, where guitarist David Stranderud shows the World how much of a guitar wizard he really is. This album culminates in the heroic League of the Divine Wind, a saga in which the whole band shows its genius.

After the CD release in April 2016 follows the album Agents Of Mystification in a limited edition of 150 black copies with insert on vinyl. All things considered, Agents of Mystification is a killer album, and finally, it is made available to you, the Metal fans.

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the highly anticipated new studio album from UNRULY CHILD, Can't Go Home on February 24th, 2017.

"Early in 2016, we decided to make time and give it a go once again with all five Unruly Child members", tells Guy Allison. "The new album, Can't Go Home has now become my favorite set of Unruly Child band songs and performances ever. True story!"

The group has generated an exciting new album reflecting its musical roots in contemporary and classic Rock sensibilities. With the return to the original line-up from the debut album, they have discovered that while time may pass, some things never change...

"We are so excited with this new album coming out in February", adds Marcie Free. "And if you find that you still got the heebie-jeebies after that and are in need of another transfusion of Unruly - try a shot of our new box set coming out too! It's got practically everything we've ever done in it and that should hold over even the most shakiest Unruly Child junkies for at least as long as it takes before we hit your area for some live shows! So come on get on board baby! The Unruly Child Train is about to blast off!!!"

The band is, in fact. also working on a box set release of their independent albums, which will see the light of day in spring on Frontiers. "We put together all the earlier material that's out of print (the first album non-withstanding - you know, lawyers!) together in one package - one box set - to make available to our fans", concludes Guy. News about the box set release will be coming soon.

With so much excitement centered around their new record, it has sparked talk of touring... Will they hit the road? News will also be coming on that front very shortly.

Chrome Molly made a bid for stardom in the mid to late 1980's, opening for Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne amongst many others, playing the legendary Marquee Club over 20 times and headlining the CBGB in New York.

How do you take a band that has been performing and recording since 1983 forward? By going back to what you love – riff laden melodic metal with tons of delicious guitar solos that make you want to grab your air guitar and join in. That is what Chrome Molly have achieved with this, their 6th studio album Hoodoo Voodoo.

Hoodoo Voodoo draws on the bands core influences. Formed during the latter half of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal scene, the Mollies were always inspired by the great Metal bands and this album is something of a tribute to those acts – you might hear Priest, UFO, early Leppard, Saxon, Rainbow and myriad others echoing through the album.

While not strictly a concept album, the original idea was to create an album that conjured up the magic of listening to the great bands of the '80's, with the riffs and tunes that shaped the band. Inspired by a friend who asked why bands don't go in and make albums like they did in the old days, backing tracks were played live and much sweat was poured.

Says Steve Hawkins (vocals) "we wanted to make an album that made us feel like we did in the '80's, one that you can turn up in the car and sing along and play air drums and guitar to."

Frontiers Music / Place Vendome - Close to the Sun
    Posted by: Denis / 02.12.2016
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the brand new PLACE VENDOME album, Close to the Sun on February 24th, 2017.

One of the most popular projects put together over the years by Frontiers' President Serafino Perugino, Place Vendome was an idea sparked during a phone conversation between Serafino and former Helloween singer Michael Kiske, where they discussed their common passion for several Melodic Rock giants of the 80's. The Hamburg singer agreed to be part of a studio project where he would sign songs written especially for him by various writers with an AOR/Melodic Rock flavor.

The amazing reception of the first PLACE VENDOME album released in 2005 planted the seeds for a second recording, Streets of Fire, which was recorded during 2008 and for a third album, Thunder in the Distance, which was released in 2013. Being a project so close to Kiske's heart, it was agreed during 2016 that work on a new album would start with his Unisonic bandmate Dennis Ward at the production helm, as usual.

Of the album, Ward said, "Upon receiving the demos for the new songs intended for the new Place Vendome record I was a bit concerned because a few vocal styles seemed to go against what Michael Kiske is known for vocally. After talking together we agreed to just let the melodies come out naturally, without trying to imitate or 'reproduce' the demos. Michael really stood up to this on the new album. He did 'his' thing, with no compromises. He managed to make the songs his own and brought all the songs to another level. I have a lot of respect for him because of this and now the album is much more than just another AOR album. That being said I have to pay high respects to the other musicians on the album: Dirk Bruineberg proved again that he is a multi-talented drummer that can literally pull of any groove, any style of any era with the highest of expectations. Günter Werno is also a gem amongst a pile of stones. He really shines on this album and holds all the songs together, true to the Place Vendome sound. Uwe Reitenauer is also a master of his instrument taking over duties that were critical and complicated to say the least. He has the perfect AOR tone and can implement it no matter what type of song you throw at him. The rest of the 'guests' that helped out made this album into a truly interesting compilation and also making this a milestone for Place Vendome. That being said, it's the first Place Vendome album where I feel that we have achieved our trademark sound. This is how we want to be heard and this is how we imagine ourselves to sound."

Speaking of other album guests, once again, Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear) was one of the first to answer the call to participate and offered the awesome song, Falling Star to the project. Jani Liimatainen (Cain's Offering, ex Sonata Arctica) was the next contributor with the epic Welcome to the Edge, the album's tour de force. Following Labyrinth's reunion, guitarist Olaf Thorsen sat with Eternal Idol, Angra, Rhapsody singer Fabio Lione and offered Helen and Riding the Ghost. Frontiers' President Serafino Perugino then proposed that his favourite DGM song, Hereafter be included. This brought DGM's main composer, Simone Mularoni into the picture and he wrote the album's title track and Across the Times. Alessandro Del Vecchio also offered two new songs, Strong and Yesterday Is Gone, while Secret Sphere's guitarist Aldo LoNobile wrote Distant Skies and Breathing. The full picture was finally completed with a new song written by Swedish Melodic Rock artist Michael Palace (Palace, Skylander), Light Before the Dark.

Kiske and Ward wanted to make the album a little bit special, so besides the 'usual suspects' (including drummer Dirk Bruinenberg, Vanden Plas' ivory tinkler Gunter Werno and Pink Cream 69's Uwe Reineauer on guitars), some guitar heavyweights appear on the recordings. The list includes Alfred Koffler and (of course) Uwe Reineauer of Pink Cream 69, Magnus Karlsson, Michael Klein, Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind), Simone Mularoni, and Unisonic guitarists Kai Hansen, Mandy Meyer among the others.

Kiske comments: "The production with my buddy Dennis was great, as always, but what I especially like about this album - beside the new microphone I used that Dennis has built me - is the various styles of the songs. It is all a still very AOR-produced album, but we also have progressive or 'wilder' elements here and there. It was (again) interesting to see how much the songs change until you finally reach the mixing stage."

In a year that will see Michael Kiske rejoin with his old HELLOWEEN bandmates for a unique world tour, PLACE VENDOME's new album is the icing on the cake of a special and very rewarding period for the German singer.

All in all, Close to the Sun is probably the most hard rocking release ever from Place Vendome and an absolute monster of an album!

    2. Welcome To The Edge

Frontiers Music / Lionville - A World Of Fools
    Posted by: Denis / 02.12.2016
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of LIONVILLE's third album, A World Of Fools on February 24, 2017.

Born as a project dedicated to pure AOR with a touch of Westcoast and Melodic Rock, LIONVILLE draw musical inspiration from acts like Toto, Richard Marx, Giant, Bad English, Survivor Band, Boulevard. The band was started by Stefano Lionetti, a songwriter, singer, and guitarist based in Genova, Italy and his brother Alessandro. After years of playing the local club circuit of Genova, Stefano formed LIONVILLE official with the encouragement and help of Pierpaolo 'Zorro' Monti (Shining Line) and Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints, Ted Poley, etc.). With the involvement of singer Lars Säfsund (Work of Art), LIONVILLE quickly took shape and became something very near and dear to everyone involved.

With two critically acclaimed releases - which came out in 2011 and 2012 – Lionville managed to find their place in the European Melodic Rock scene while also appearing at Firefest in Nottingham in 2012. With their combination of rockin' AOR tunes and classic Westcoast AOR sounds, Lionville piqued the interest of Frontiers, who signed the band in early 2016.

"It's a very important record for LIONVILLE, since we are coming back after four years of silence", says Stefano Lionetti. "I really wanted to make happy all the fans who waited so long for it. As a producer and songwriter I have done my best to create a high class record, but with the right variety. You will find classic Melodic Rock songs, a couple of ballads, songs in the style of the previous record and of course a lot of attention on the arrangements. I also wanted to have more of a band feel with this record and I am very proud of the final result."

"These songs have been fun to sing and they're really good", adds Lars Safsund.

Recorded by a gifted cast of experienced studio cats and upcoming talents and produced by Stefano Lionetti, the new album, A World Of Fools finds a winning combination of very strong songwriting (courtesy also of Robert Sall, Alessandro Del Vecchio, Bruce Gaitsch, Soren Kronkvist, Gianluca Firmo, Thomas Vikstrom, Ida West) and stellar musical performances, crowned by impressive lead vocals and an album mix that gives space to all the significant little details.

The LIONVILLE team has high hopes that people will embrace their vision of a reinvigorated musical genre and everyone is looking forward to continuing the LIONVILLE story with another awesome contribution to Melodic Rock music.

InsideOut Music / Anneke Van Giersbergen: announces new band VUUR
    Posted by: Denis / 02.12.2016
Renowned Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen has announced the formation of a brand new band under the name of VUUR, created as a vehicle for the Heavy Progressive Metal side of her career. Watch an introduction to VUUR here.

In early 2016, Anneke decided for the sake of clarity to narrow her musical focus, choosing to go in a folk acoustic direction as a solo artist and in a Heavy Progressive mMtal direction as a band vocalist. The name VUUR - translated from Dutch as 'fire', which can also be interpreted to mean 'passion' or 'drive' - was chosen as a moniker to represent Anneke's Metal side, with the idea that when fans buy a ticket with the VUUR name on it they will be getting her Heavy Progressive music, while an Anneke van Giersbergen show will be entirely different. Thus, in order to give VUUR's kick-off the proper fanfare, Anneke has opted to take a break from performing in the first half of 2017.

"It's like I'm searching for contradictions", Anneke says of splitting her focus in two. "I want the heavy to be really heavy, and the soft acoustic stuff that I can do can be almost silent and inward. I'm trying to find those outer limits. I'm still writing and collaborating with different people, so VUUR's style is still kind of different from The Gathering and The Gentle Storm. You could say VUUR's music has the melancholy of The Gathering and lots of elements from The Gentle Storm, but it's a bit darker with fewer folk elements. It's still melodic and warm, but heavy."

Anneke comments: "The band has a different name, because the music will be slightly different from The Gentle Storm, but most band members are still involved and the music will be heavy too, so in that perspective not a lot will change, especially in the live situation. I think people will really embrace VUUR as a live band because there are nothing but stars in this band (laughs). They're some of the best Heavy Metal players in Holland so I didn't want to let them go."

Look out for the first live announcements coming soon, with a debut full length due in the fall of 2017.
Massacre Records / WARPATH artwork + track list
    Posted by: Denis / 02.12.2016
WARPATH's new album Bullets For A Desert Session will be released on January 13, 2017 via Massacre Records!

Vocalist Dirk 'Dicker' Weiss about the artwork's concept, realized by Thomas Battermann: "It's about the impermanence of all machinery of war. Time eats away at it, or they're left in the middle of nowhere because they've served their purpose. No matter if they're destroyed, out of fuel or ammunition or abandoned by the crew... in the end, the vehicle is left and abandoned in the desert. It's the same with war - there's nothing left but destruction and ruins. Relicts of the past, a past that shouldn't repeat itself."

The skull on the plane, as depicted on the cover, was created by Jan Meininghaus and contains the four musical styles WARPATH unites.
The following tracks are featured on the album:
    1. Reborn
    2. I Don't Care
    3. Believe
    4. When War Begins
    5. Unseen Enemy
    6. No One Can Kill Us

Guitarist Anders Nyström comments: "We did three North American tours in support for Dead End Kings and it's been three and a half years since the last one when we toured with Cult Of Luna, so having already embraced the new cycle of The Fall Of Hearts over here, we are eager to once again cross the Atlantic to continue from where we left off and to reap what we planted over there."

Vocalist Jonas Renkse introduces the bands they have chosen to join them on the tour: "We are very excited to finally announce our headline tour in North America for The Fall of Hearts. Also invited for this run are post-rock titans Caspian and young, promising act Uncured. Come out and celebrate the downfall of hearts (and everything else) with us!"

Napalm Records / ROTTING CHRIST confirmed for METAL ON THE HILL 2017
    Posted by: Denis / 01.12.2016
Metal On The Hill proudly presents ROTTING CHRIST where they will perform a special old school set on the festival bill!

Dark and harsh sounds that prominently feature both melody and the classic Heavy Metal vibe is at the blackened heart of Rotting Christ's music. The band has been making brutal music for 25 years now, gaining worldwide attention from fans and critics alike, and is certainly one of the most respected and prolific bands in the extreme Metal genre. ROTTING CHRIST defined what has been labeled the 'Greek' sound of Black Metal with their efforts. This blackened sonic cult remains as volatile and viable as ever.

The dates for Metal On The Hill 2017 are set, as well as the first confirmed bands! Save the dates: On August 11th and 12th 2017 international top acts will again make Schlossberg Graz erupt! Headliners BLIND GUARDIAN and PARADISE LOST will both find their way to Graz for a very special and exclusive Austrian show in 2017! Scottish Pirate Metal outfit ALESTORM, and Pagan giants ARKONA will be on the bill performing exclusive Austrian shows. Brazil`s meanest power trio NERVOSA will drag its fans down into a malicious maelstrom full of old school darkness! Popular symphonic Metal acts SERENITY and VISIONS OF ATLANTIS will round out the bill with more amazing acts to be added!
