Additional informationfrom www.destiny-calling.com (04.08.2005):
The musical experience behind "Destiny Calling" is what gives this band its unique and powerful vibe. When Jackson and Kurek first met, there was a musical connection that was more than just a coincidence. Jer: "I had gone to visit Kevin's studio (www.audioimagingstudio.com ) to have some CD's duplicated for a project I was working on. Before you know it, we were talking about all the 80's Metal we mutually liked. Ironically, I mentioned I had always wanted to meet a guitarist/songwriter to collaborate with and record an album of this style... and he was looking for the same!".
Jer had paid his dues, playing in Metal cover bands throughout Western Canada in the late 80's and early 90's. It seemed like once a promising band was about to go somewhere, it always fell apart.
Kevin had also paid his share of dues, shredding his axe through bands with the same, usual fate. Kevin had also during that time, become a wizard in the recording field... His technical knowledge of recording enabled the fledgling project to take form and grow.
Jer and Kevin had each written and recorded numerous musical ideas over the years: there was no shortage of ideas for songs. The similarities between their writing styles and creative vision were remarkable. After months of sorting through the material, new songs began taking shape, as did their vision for a serious attempt at musical success. Friend and session singer Christopher Barran www.christopherbarran.com provided the awesome, high soaring vocal tracks for the first EP recordings. The three, combined with a plethora of sick humour, long studio hours and munchies, have managed to lay down an awesome array of melodic / progressive music that is sure to blow your mind!!!
The next stage was to find the permanent members that would let the band truly become a reality. In the summer of 2004, Jer and Kevin met keyboardist Enoque Carrancho. Enoque brings immense talent and creativity to the group, along with his live playing / recording experience and unique sense of humour. Eno's contributions will be invaluable for the forthcoming album recording.
As of May 2005 we finally found our permanent singer "Alice Dee" http://www.thewarningrocks.com/ ... as the previous one (Chris) was only a session player, seeking fame for his own solo ventures. Alice is a road veteran with many years of singing and his own solo project. A more midrange voice than Chris, he nevertheless is committed and professional in ways that few people we were auditioning could compare... and just what we were looking for.
Most recently in June 2005 we finally found that last member, having a surprising amount of difficulty in locating a bass player. Jim Fernandez is the guy. Being the more recent member, Jim is just becoming fully integrated in to the group, but has a mind to play more exploratory and complex music than is the norm.
Wilth the addition of a permanent bassist, the band will soon begin rehearsing for upcoming live shows in support of the EP release.
Josh Wood http://www.jpwmetalenterprises.com, a long time co-host of CJSW's Megawatt Mayhem, has supported their musical progress from the beginning, and has taken the band under his wing as their official manager and promoter.
