ID: N 0114-3

Melodic Hard Heavy Metal

It would be just not bad Melodic Hard&Heavy if there weren't such excellent vocals on this album. So we have another best example of German Melodic Metal.

V2Out to Launch

1990

Noise Records
ID: CDP 564-7 94261 2

Hard Heavy Metal

The singer's changed, the music's changed, now it's typical Hard&Heavy in US Glammy style. Nevertheless there are some not bad guitar works there.

V8 WankersThe Demon Tweak

2005

Rude Records
ID: rude 006

Hard Rock

It's Rock'n'Rollish music with many repetitions in Motorhead style. This music is just for distraction someone's mind from the modern Metal streams which captivated world music as it is.

Vai, SteveFire Garden

1996

Epic Records
ID: 485062 2

experimental Hard Heavy Metal

Every solo guitarist has a possibility to play what he wants and how he wants. Steve Vai isn't an exception. This album is experimental enough, trendy Funky US Hard Rock enough, Gary Moore-ish enough.

Vainglory2050

2001

Leviathan Records
ID: RBR/LCR 2750

Melodic Power Heavy Progressive Metal

It's unexpectedly fast music from the band sheltered by irrepressible David Chastain. The guitars are similar to Friedman of Megadeth era. In general it's very good release especially because of just wonderful guitar works and melodic arrangements.

VaingloryVainglory

2007

MTM Music
ID: MTM Music 0681-186

Power Heavy Metal

It's a various work from fast and very powerful Metal to slow Stoner. The main treasure again is the excellent guitar work and interesting arrangements.

ValentineSoul Salvation

2008

selfproduction

Melodic Hard Rock AOR

It's just another AOR band with a style of music that puts me to sleep. If you have heard one average AOR band that means you have heard all similar bands.

ValentinesBon Scott with the Valentines - The Early Years

1991

C-Five Records
ID: C5CD 520

Rock

It's something like Creedence + The Beatles +Bee Gees, etc. Bon Scott was just wonderful there! There are many beautiful things but you must know it's absolutely not AC/DC.

ValhallaNightbreed

2003

GoiMusic
ID: GOI 2003 16

Melodic Speed Power Metal

It's a mixture of everything except originality. You may find here Rhapsody, Gamma Ray/Iron Savior, Judas Priest/Primal Fear, Manowar - these bands are very good, but it's not interesting to listen to their pale copy.

ValianceThe Unglorious Conspiracy

2001

Black Lotus Records
ID: BLRCD 020

Melodic Power Metal

Even so the music is typical Italian Melodic (Speed&)Power than something original. It's Progressive enough music with some typical for Italian bands keys and some boring songs.

ValianceWayfaring

2002

Black Lotus Records
ID: MHR 086

Power Metal

This music isn't typical for Italy, it's close to Blind Guardian with some Prog and some Melodic elements. About sound: I don't undertake to rise this band over others, but this music can like not only for few persons.

ValkijaAvengers of Steel

2004

Sonic Age Records
ID: SARECD 001

Heavy Power Metal

Do you miss early Oliva's high-pitched screams? You have a chance to listen to them again on this album! No, there isn't real Oliva on this release but the female vocals (which sound like the male vocals) sometimes are very similar. In general this music can be described as Savatage (because of the vocals) and Metal Church with some powerful elements typical for the bands from 80s.

ValkyriaValkyria

1993

Death City Records

experimental Thrash Progressive Metal

Yes, everything knows about experiments in Progressive Metal, it's no miracle to listen to Thrash/Prog, but Progressive experiments in Thrash is something new. The music is fast and slow, let it be Kreator as Thrash example, I don't say examples for experimental Prog, but I note that some tracks with the keys remind me of Bal-Sagoth.

Valkyrie's CryValkyrie's Cry

2009

Pure Steel Records
ID: PSRCD 023

Power Speed Thrash Metal

It's Canadian mixture of Blind Guardian and Tankard in terms of music. There are many good and various guitar works there along with the good vocals.

Valley's EveDeception of Pain

2002

Limb Music Products
ID: LMP 0302-039 CD

Heavy Progressive Metal

Is it Limb again? Oh, this album corresponds to it. This one is close to Iced Earth (in Heavy format), or it's a mixture of Sinner, Accept, Elegy, etc. I found there many repetitions of the riffs and music of other bands...

Valley's EveThe Atmosphere of Silence

1999

B.Mind Records
ID: 27003

Melodic Progressive Power Heavy Metal

These songs just pour on you, I haven't heard such excellent Melodic Prog long ago! It's enough to listen to just the vocals and the guitar solos there!

ValsansSword

2011

selfproduction
ID: PURCD003

Heavy Power Metal

It's another epical powerful Heavy. 'Hear my word, I fight on the battlefield, I dressed in a magic kilt, I swing the mighty sword.' - no, it's not the part of the lyrics, it's a simple and complete description.

VampyrCry Out for Metal

1986

Hot Blood Records
ID: SSR-DY16

Speed Heavy Metal

It's always not a surprise to discover the forgotten bands from the past in the current time, fortunately many bands of 80s come alive again, reissue old works, etc. I want you to meet one of that bands: Vampyre. They played fast Heavy, early Speed and Power, it's something in style Running Wild, Accept, Grave Digger, Judas Priest, etc.

Van CantoTribe of Force

2010

Napalm Records
ID: irond cd 10-1688

Heavy Metal

The main unique feature of this band is not only many vocalists, some guests and one drummer, but an unique imitation of the guitars and the bass guitar by these vocals. Though some songs are similar to each other, it doesn't deprive an originality.

Van CantoA Storm to Come

2006

Napalm Records
ID: NPR 324

Melodic Heavy Power Metal

Meaning of 'Metal' understands the guitars presence, special sound, etc. Can we call 'Metal' imitation? More than that if we heard Power Metal without the guitars? What is to be done? Van Canto aren't in leading strings of the limits, Van Canto make the trend. Even an originality of the music isn't important, performance is a key to the new unplumbed horizons.

Van CantoBreak the Silence

2011

Napalm Records
ID: mzr cd 510

Melodic Heavy Power Metal

Though it's not the first band's album I hear and the music is in the same key I can't say anything about new features. The band's phenomenon is a big feature itself.

Van CantoDawn of the Brave

2014

Napalm Records
ID: mzr cd 653

Melodic Heavy Power Metal

It's the same Van Canto sound, there is no real doubt about it. Yes, these songs know no equals but actually I think this music isn't in progress also.

Van CantoVoices of Fire

2016

Edel Records
ID: 0210827EMU

Melodic Heavy Power Metal

When I listen to this band I'm proud of these guys. It's really something special even though the music is similar to many similar bands that perform such music instrumentally.

Van Halen5150

1986

Warner Bros. Records
ID: 925 394-2

Hard Rock

It's again not bad for me Van Halen album. Not but that the music changes your mind thorough, just there are some really not bad songs there.

Van HalenOU812

1988

Warner Bros. Records
ID: 32XD-1055

Blues Hard Rock

It's again a commercially successful album of more or less mainstream US Rock. There are some not bad songs there though many of them aren't for me.

Van HalenFor Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

1991

Warner Bros. Records
ID: WPCP-4401

Blues Funk Hard Rock

This work creates a remarkable atmosphere of the smooth tracks. Though all tracks are typical for Van Halen and the genre, it never decreases the meaning of Van Halen's music.

Van HalenBalance

1995

Warner Bros. Records
ID: 9 45760-2

Hard Rock

It's more emotional for me album than some previous works though it's still the same. But I don't think we need something else from Van Halen.

Van HalenVan Halen III

1998

Warner Bros. Records
ID: WPCR-1600

Hard Rock

It's the last full length band's album for the moment (2010). The band still play the same music with Blues elements and specific for Van Halen only sound.
