RavenOne for All

Massacre Records
ID: MAS CD0206

Hard Heavy Metal

A part of this album is Rock'n'Roll-like music in spirit of many bands of early 80s so the music sounds in early Saxon, Judas Priest, Motorhead, AC/DC style. It's not bad album for old band.

RavenNothing Exceeds Like Excess

Combat Records
ID: 66043-2

Heavy Speed Power Metal

It's a pushy but contagious music, very true NWoBHM with some guitar sound of 70s and many powerful parts, almost Thrash. Nothing can be better than Raven of 80s!

RavenWalk through Fire

ID: SPV 308212 CD

Heavy Metal

This album is like a great jump to Raven's past. We have youth and recklessness of 80s sound and sagacity and skill of the mature music.

RavenWiped Out

Neat Metal Records
ID: NM037

Actually, we have many 'the best of NWoBHM albums', this album is one of them. It's as usual excellent and catchy songs with some speedy sound.

RavenAll for One

Neat Metal Records
ID: NM038

Heavy Metal

Udo Dirkschneider makes appearance on the bonus track - this work is like Accept of the same time. It's not NWoBHM, at least it doesn't sound in pure British style.

RavenThe Pack Is Back

Atlantic Recording Corporation
ID: 81629-2

Hard Heavy Metal

This stand-alone album is some mixture of Def Leppard, Judas Priest, AC/Dc's Rock'n'Rol, US Glammy pop Hard Rock and so on. I can't say it's disgusting, it's just more than ordinarily.

RaventhroneEndless Conflict Theorem

Avantgarde Records
ID: irond cd 02-298

Melodic Pop Death Doom Black Folk

It's a light music. There is no standard guitar roar, everything is calm, smooth and three-chord. It's similar to late Crematory and also to Falkenbach, Burzum and other viking and goblin bands. Vocals are from standard Death/Black one to half voiceless clear one. Keys are everywhere, even guitars are synthesized sometimes.

Rawhead RexxRawhead Rexx

AFM Records
ID: cdm 0801-640

Heavy Power Metal

It's pure Power Metal with Melodic elements. Unfortunately, this album doesn't seem to me very original one. It's just a good work, not more. Sometimes it reminds of Helloween with Deris.

Rawhead RexxDiary in Black

AFM Records
ID: cdm 0603-1419

Power Metal

This music doesn't let you have a dream, even though you're getting falling asleep. It's powerful music in Primal Fear style (= there are Judas Priest elements there) without the keys and a standard set of the tunes.

RazorArmed And Dangerous

Voice Records

Heavy Thrash Metal

When it's Thrash this band is similar to early Metallica. In other respects it sounds like a mixture of early Running Wild, Grave Digger and Motorhead.

RazorExecutioner's Song

Unidisc Music
ID: ATM0103

Speed Thrash Metal

This release is faster than 'Armed and Dangerous' without doubt. It's Speed/Thrash of 80s in the same early Metallica traditions.

RazorEvil Invaders

Unidisc Music
ID: ATM-0112

Thrash Metal

At last it's true Thrash in European style. I have no other words but the music is in the best traditions of the genre and without very special band's features.

RazorMalicious Intent

Unidisc Music
ID: ATM-0116

Thrash Metal

The band follows the way trodden by the previous album. It's the same fast and jawbreaking European Thrash of 80s without anything special.

RazorCustom Killing

Fist Fight Records
ID: CD FPL 3041

Thrash Metal

The changes in band's music do much good. The music became less fast, less European, more complex and various, I think it's better way.

RazorViolent Restitution

ID: SPV 85-7571

Thrash Metal

This Thrash is simply Thrash, nothing more. We have good Thrash Metal album, various enough but without anything new in the music and the sound.

RazorShotgun Justice

Fringe Records
ID: FPD3094

Thrash Punk Metal

It's the same Thrash but sometimes with some primitive sound inherent to Punk. In other respects there is nothing new at all in the music.

RazorOpen Hostility

Fringe Records
ID: FPD3114

Thrash Metal

It's again fast enough Thrash, it's something between European Thrash trend of Kreator, Sodom, Tankard, etc. and Slayer. The songs haven't originality again...

Hypnotic Records
ID: HYP 1058

Thrash Metal

It's Thrash but not exactly. The music is more modern Thrash than it's usual for true Thrash. The vocals are harsher than it's usual also. It's unusual for Razor but it's already less interesting for me.

Razor FistMetal Minds

Pure Steel Records

Speed Thrash Metal

Explain to me why just few modern bands play such music. It's splendid Speed/Thrash in 80s style with the catchy songs, excellent guitars and absolutely accurate vocals.

RazorbackAnimal Anger

Massacre Records
ID: amg 184

Melodic Heavy Metal

It's again hard work to say something about European Melodic band. The main danger for such band is an absence of any originality behind the melodiousness. This band is good and melodic, everything is OK, but nobody recalls this band after the listening to it.

Metal Heaven
ID: myst cd 231

Melodic Heavy Metal

I can't say more words than I said about their Animal Anger years ago. It's still the same - Melodic Metal with good musicians' works but without any originality.

RazormaidFirst Cutt

ID: 7 85855 51012 5

Heavy Metal

It can be describes as a mixture of WASP, Malmsteen, Rob Rock and many traditional US Heavy Metal bands of 80s. The music is interesting enough, especially the guitars.

RDKarusel' Epoh (Carrousel of Epochs)

ID: cdm 0506-2530

Melodic Heavy Metal

This is EP, maybe single, anyway it's a short recording without even standard faceless ideas, it's a copy of many known tunes, refrains, etc. of the other artists. It isn't pleasant for me such releases.

Re-AnimatorCondemned to Eternity

Under One Flag
ID: CSCS 5261

Thrash Metal

Thrash Metal isn't a typical music for UK. Re-Animator isn't a typical band for Thrash. It's a surprisingly interesting band with some fresh for those times ideas, a complex music with a lot of instrumental parts. Deny Reality EP is inherent in Condemned to Eternity and sounds in the same key.

Under One Flag

Progressive Thrash Metal

Is Re-Animator's album 'Laughing' Thrash? No, it's no laughing matter. It's a mixture of Heavy/Thrash/Progressive and some Punk and even Funk elements. In my opinion it's a good stuff for some smart Progressive Metal act.

Re-AnimatorThat Was Then... This Is Now

Under One Flag

Modern Heavy Metal

If the first work was interesting, Laughing was unusual but this one - I was in no mood for laughing. Indeed it's a direct 'Laughing' successor, but the music is modern trendy something non-essential.

B.Mind Records
ID: irond cd 02-180

Pop Gothic Metal

It's Anathema plus Sentenced. There is nothing original and interesting there. Their demos are more interesting than this pop music.

Re-VisionWhore Venus

B.Mind Records
ID: 27007

Melodic Heavy Metal

I was afraid it's like the next after this album something modern-bored but fortunately it's still Melodic Heavy. The music has something modern Gothic a bit, the vocals sometimes remind me of Bruce Dickinson, some songs from this album are really very good.

ReaccionFuerza Plena

ID: LR05

Heavy Metal

Independence probably is the great thing for many bands when they play what they want. This album overspread their music predilection from Hard&Heavy to even Thrash and there are no limits for their wills.

ReactorFarewell to Reality

Rough Trade Recordss (RTD)

Melodic Speed Power Metal

It's classic German Metal in Scanner key (sure, because of S.L. Coe only). Music is melodic enough, the guitar solos are on the standard level.
