| Razor | Evil Invaders | 1985 | Unidisc Music ID: ATM-0112 | | Thrash Metal | At last it's true Thrash in European style. I have no other
words but the music is in the best traditions of the genre and without
very special band's features. |
| Razor | Malicious Intent | 1986 | Unidisc Music ID: ATM-0116 | | Thrash Metal | The band follows the way trodden by the previous album. It's
the same fast and jawbreaking European Thrash of 80s without anything
special. |
| Razor | Custom Killing | 1987 | Fist Fight Records ID: CD FPL 3041 | | Thrash Metal | The changes in band's music do much good. The music became
less fast, less European, more complex and various, I think it's
better way. |
| Razor | Violent Restitution | 1988 | Steamhammer ID: SPV 85-7571 | | Thrash Metal | This Thrash is simply Thrash, nothing more. We have good
Thrash Metal album, various enough but without anything new in the
music and the sound. |
| Razor | Shotgun Justice | 1990 | Fringe Records ID: FPD3094 | | Thrash Punk Metal | It's the same Thrash but sometimes with some primitive
sound inherent to Punk. In other respects there is nothing new at all
in the music. |
| Razor | Open Hostility | 1991 | Fringe Records ID: FPD3114 | | Thrash Metal | It's again fast enough Thrash, it's something between European
Thrash trend of Kreator, Sodom, Tankard, etc. and Slayer. The songs
haven't originality again... |
| Razor | Decibels | 1997 | Hypnotic Records ID: HYP 1058 | | Thrash Metal | It's Thrash but not exactly. The music is more modern Thrash
than it's usual for true Thrash. The vocals are harsher than it's
usual also. It's unusual for Razor but it's already less interesting
for me. |
| Razorback | Animal Anger | 2004 | Massacre Records ID: amg 184 | | Melodic Heavy Metal | It's again hard work to say something about European Melodic band. The main danger for such band is an absence of any originality behind the melodiousness. This band is good and melodic, everything is OK, but nobody recalls this band after the listening to it. |
| Razorback | Deadringer | 2007 | Metal Heaven ID: myst cd 231 | | Melodic Heavy Metal | I can't say more words than I said about their Animal Anger years ago. It's still the same - Melodic Metal with good musicians' works but without any originality. |
| Razormaid | First Cutt | 1987 | selfproduction ID: 7 85855 51012 5 | | Heavy Metal | It can be describes as a mixture of WASP, Malmsteen, Rob Rock
and many traditional US Heavy Metal bands of 80s. The music is
interesting enough, especially the guitars. |
| RD | Karusel' Epoh (Carrousel of Epochs) | 2006 | CD-Maximum ID: cdm 0506-2530 | | Melodic Heavy Metal | This is EP, maybe single, anyway it's a short recording without even standard faceless ideas, it's a copy of many known tunes, refrains, etc. of the other artists. It isn't pleasant for me such releases. |
| Re-Vision | Longevity | 2001 | B.Mind Records ID: irond cd 02-180 | | Pop Gothic Metal | It's Anathema plus Sentenced. There is nothing original and interesting there. Their demos are more interesting than this pop music. |
| Re-Vision | Whore Venus | 2000 | B.Mind Records ID: 27007 | | Melodic Heavy Metal | I was afraid it's like the next after this album
something modern-bored but fortunately it's still Melodic Heavy. The
music has something modern Gothic a bit, the vocals sometimes remind
me of Bruce Dickinson, some songs from this album are really very
good. |
| Reaccion | Fuerza Plena | 2005 | Labelrecord ID: LR05 | | Heavy Metal | Independence probably is the great thing for many bands when they play what they want. This album overspread their music predilection from Hard&Heavy to even Thrash and there are no limits for their wills. |
| Reactor | Farewell to Reality | 1995 | Rough Trade Recordss (RTD) | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | It's classic German Metal in Scanner key (sure, because of S.L. Coe only). Music is melodic enough, the guitar solos are on the standard level. |
| Reactor | A Short Fairy Tale | 1998 | Maple Leaf | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | It's classic German Power without the keys and with several tunes quantity, it's just researching for the good refrains. |
| Readman, David | David Readman | 2007 | Frontiers Records ID: irond cd 07-dd536 | | AOR Hard Rock | It's enough soft and trendy music. Sometimes the
guitars sound like on some Malmsteen albums, some songs sound like
coming from Europe (the band) or some other European major Melodic
Hard Rock/Metal band. |
| Realm | Endless War | 1988 | RoadRunner Records ID: MASS CD DG 0979 | | Speed Thrash Metal | This band with the epic name played by no means epical
Metal. It's very nice Speed/Thrash of 80s in spirit of few similar
bands of that times. |
| Realm | Suiciety | 1990 | RoadRunner Records ID: MASS CD DG 0980 | | Speed Thrash Metal | I think this album is faster than the debut album so
it's better for me, I really like such fast music. It's 90s, a new
decade demands new speeds. |
| Reanimacia | Harakternik | 2008 | CD-Maximum | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | It's a dashing music with the catching fast songs
and the nice slow balladish music. It's not a new wave though such
music always can't be poor. |
| Reaper (Germany) | The Years Within | 1992 | Mausoleum Records ID: 904 012.2 | | Melodic Heavy Metal | In the instant case it's traditional German Melodic
Heavy in 80s style. Now the vocals sound like a mixture of Gerd
Salewski, Udo, Rolf Kasparek, Lothar Antoni, etc. |
| Reaper (Germany) | Beyond All Time | 1990 | Bellaphon ID: ME 529 CD | | Melodic Heavy Power Metal | If you would like to hear early German Heavy with
Power elements, with the special sound in spirit of early Grave
Digger, Reaper is for you! It's an excellent melodious music with the
memorable songs and special vocals. |
| Reapers | Metalness | 2004 | Deadsun Record ID: DSR 035 | | Heavy Metal | This band plays like Early Metallica but in classic Heavy style. So far as you've never heard such music on real Metallica it can be interesting for many people, probably especially the bass guitar works (it reminds my of Burton). |
| Rebellion | Born a Rebel | 2003 | Drakkar Records ID: amg 134 | | Power Metal | Unfortunately I haven't seen their first album on sale yet, I heard just
some samples from it so this album is first album of this band that I
hear. It's a mixture of powerful Judas Priest (by other words Primal
Fear), Accept and of course Grave Digger. This album doesn't sound like Grave Digger as I would like this album to be, anyway some tracks from this album are
pure Grave Digger. A vocalist has hoarse voice but he isn't like
Boltendahl. |
| Rebellion | A Tragedy in Steel - Shakespeare's Macbeth | 2002 | Drakkar Records ID: DRAKKAR 030 | | Power Metal | It's extremely obvious version of Manowar with the endless narrators
speeches mixed with Grave Digger 'Tunes of War' music. I'd like to note
very impressive vocals with Boltendahl's hoarseness. |
| Rebellion | Sagas of Iceland | 2005 | Massacre Records ID: amg 269 | | Power Metal | The band continues to exploit the music and ideas which were released
during Grave Digger 'Tunes of War' time. The music is good, nobody argues,
but it's not good thing to use one idea on every album without something
newer. |
| Rebellion | Miklagard - The History of Vikings part II | 2007 | Massacre Records ID: irond cd 07-1265 | | Power Metal | One of the positive moments of this band is that Grave Digger left these
years of such music behind long ago, so those fans who still live in old
Grave Digger of Lulis time will be glad to listen to the continuation of
endless Rebellion sagas. This album consists not only Grave Digger sound
but something from Iced Earth also. |
| Rebellion | Arise: from Ragnarok to Ginnungagap, The History of the Vikings volume III | 2009 | Massacre Records ID: irond cd 09-1629 | | Power Death Metal | The first news that the vocals sound in Death growl style
often and the guitars sound with Death noise on some tracks. It's an
important difference from the previous band's works. |
| Reckless Tide | Helleraser | 2006 | Armageddon Products ID: AMG 052-2 | | Thrash Metal | It's modern popular meaning of world Thrash. It's something like a mixture
of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and many modern German near-Thrash bands. |
| Red Circuit | Trance State | 2006 | Limb Music Products ID: cdm 0408-2857 | | Progressive Metal | What a boring music! I could hardly wait for the ending of this
opus. It's a mess of sound like a mixture of experimental Progressive
and boring AOR. |
