| Red Dawn | Plohoe Predchuvstvie (Bad Presentiment) | 1989 | Melodiya Record Company | | Heavy Power Metal | It's not the music which lives for a long time in the minds of the people
with the catching tunes, though they could be there. The first track is
classically fast one for Heavy of 80s, almost all other tracks are
mid-tempo. |
| Red Square | Red Square (Krasnaya Ploshad') | 1990 | | | Heavy Metal | This band lived for a short time, this music corresponded to many other bands of 80s that played Heavy, but still couldn't leave Rock'n'Rollish Hard&Heavy. This album is nice, with some good tunes and guitar solos, there is something to listen to there. |
| Red Warlock | Serve Your Master | 2010 | My Graveyard Productions ID: MGP-067 | | Heavy Metal | It's Heavy with some Power elements and a very little more
Death elements. It's not bad music with the various sound and
stylistically different songs. |
| Red Wine | El Fin de los Tiempos | 2002 | Arise Records ID: ARISE 031 | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | This band is very nice mixture of Angra, Rhapsody, Dark Moor including some early Symphony X touches. This music is in the traditions of Spanish or Italian Melodic Speed&Power with the memorable tunes and excellent guitar works. |
| Red Wine | Cenizas | 2004 | Arise Records ID: ARISE 060 | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | It's still the same Melodic Speed&Power without
anything new in the music. It's just very good music in the general
traditions and with few Progressive touches. |
| Redemption | The Fullness of Time | 2005 | Massacre Records ID: amg 290 | | Melodic Progressive Power Metal | Without doubt it's not the music in the classic meaning of Progressive style. I already know many US bands which increase the power in the music though they're Melodic Progressive inside. Do you need the examples? Turn your attention to Redemption. |
| Redemption | Snowfall on Judgment Day | 2009 | InsideOutMusic ID: IOMCD 316 | | Progressive Metal | Many Progressive and few but bright powerful parts, it's new
Redemption's album. So it's a collection not bad melodious Progressive
songs, not very original but very good without doubt. |
| Redemption | The Origins of Ruin | 2007 | InsideOutMusic ID: IOMCD 273 | | Progressive Metal | I thought real Progressive Metal must be like this album:
complex, unpredictable, exciting and a bit melodious. This album is
boring partially but in general it's really truly Progressive work. |
| Redemption | This Mortal Coil | 2011 | InsideOutMusic ID: IOMLTDCD 350 | | Progressive Metal | The band can't be better than it already is. The music is the
same Progressive with some boring songs, with some good songs, there
isn't new there again. |
| Redkey | Rage of Fire | 2006 | The A Label ID: DY100350 | | Heavy Metal | Do you still cry for Heavens Gate? You cry for the moon because Redkey crosses Heaves Gate in splendid inimitable Rettke vocals and semi-Heavens Gate line-up only. But Redkey music already left 90s and absorbed 2000s trends. This is slow but powerful music with some Progressive touches, with the excellent vocals and the great guitars works. |
| Redox | Forgotten Nature | 2000 | Voliac Rock Productions ID: V-001 | | Heavy Metal | It can be called Heavy as well as Celtic Frost can be called
Heavy. It's not just an accidental comparison, I hear something (e.g.
the vocals) similar to Celtic Frost, though the music itself isn't
Celtic Frost at all. |
| Redox | Equilibrium | 2010 | Voliac Rock Productions ID: V-013 | | Heavy Black Metal | It's the same modern Heavy-like music with Black Metal
vocals, there is nothing interesting. Sometimes it sounds like an
average copy of In Flames. |
| Redrum | Power Corrupts | 1989 | Evil Legend Records | | Thrash Metal | It's true Californian Thrash of 80s. This music is in the
spirit in which Metallica played until Master of Puppets. The music
usually sounds not very fast, with the clear vocals. |
| Redrum (Greece) | No Turning Back | 2007 | Sleaszy Rider Records ID: SR-0063 | | Hard Heavy Metal | It's not very original and memorable Hard&Heavy with some
not bad guitar works. In other respects it's an average enough work in
spite of Michael Bormann on the vocals. |
| Redstorm | No Exception of a Victim of Crime | 1989 | Karthago Records ID: KR 007 | | Heavy Metal | He wanted to conquer the world but he has got standard result of many
musicians - classic, not very original Heavy. He tried to do everything
but the drums, unfortunately it was the reason why this music was good but
common. |
| Reece | Universal Language | 2009 | AOR Heaven ID: irond cd 09-dd756 | | Blues Hard Rock | Where have you hidden many years, dear Mr. Reece? Why
did you keep this music from the people? It's a wonderful Bluesy Hard
Rock with very impressive guitar works and with very suitable for this
music vocals. |
| Reflection | Odysseia | 2002 | Secret Port Records ID: SPR 0010 | | Melodic Heavy Metal | There is nothing strange that Greeks sing about ancient Greeks. During the
all disk sounding I can't define what this music is similar to - these
style and the riffs are known before, but I can't recall it at all. In
general it can remind Savatage and Iron Maiden remotely. Manowar is
present here as narrator voice that sounds for a long time almost between
all tracks. The choirs remind me of Therion and (Morgana) Lefay. |
| Reflection | The Fire Still Burns... | 2001 | Secret Port Records ID: SPR 0002 | | Heavy Progressive Metal | For me this band is from those bands which can present us nothing but when
you're listening to it, you reach a conclusion, no, it's a good band. This
work sounds a bit raw like a good demo, there are of course some good
solos, riffs, tunes, etc. there, there is something on this album that can
catches you. |
| Regency | Awakening | 2001 | Brennus Association ID: cdm 0801-662 | | Progressive Metal | |
| Reign of Terror, The | Sacred Ground | 2001 | Limb Music Products ID: LMP 0104-028 CD | | Melodic Power Heavy Metal | |
| Reign of Terror, The | Conquer & Divide | 2002 | Lion Music ID: cdm 1202-1265 | | Melodic Power Heavy Metal | There are Vescera, Olausson, an enthusiast of quick Malmsteen here. But it's not quite Malmsteen. Stump sounds like both Malmsteen and Pell (not Blackmore). But sound is heavier. Sometimes he plays arpeggio, sometimes - blues, there are a lot of tunes. Keys are somewhere in the background, there is no their interlacing with guitar here. |
| Reign of Terror, The | Second Coming | 1997 | Locomotive Music ID: LM-027 CD | | Melodic Heavy Metal | It's hard to be a good guitarist, it's harder to be a guitarist in Malmsteen style. You need to know how to play arpeggios quickly, the biggest problem is not to copy Malmsteen's ideas, riffs, tunes, etc. Stump coped with this difficulty. Yes, music is Malmsteen-like, but there is something on this album and in the band in the whole that says that this band's good and interesting. |
| Reinxeed | Majestic | 2010 | selfproduction ID: LRCD002 | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | It's a good and high-skilled music for different
Melodic Speed&Power bands but it's not good to be something above a
second-rate band. This music has nothing original, unfortunately it's
just another Melodic Speed&Power band. |
| Reinxeed | Welcome to the Theater | 2012 | Rivel Records ID: LRCD0012 | | Melodic Speed Power Metal | It's good Melodic Speed&Power with some
influences of Rhapsody, Royal Hunt, Virgin Steele. This music is solid
enough. |
| Released Anger | Faces of Fate | 2007 | Kill Again Records ID: KA029 | | Thrash Metal | It's fast and aggressive Thrash with Black Metal vocals. This
combination gives us very interesting mixture of European Thrash
sound, some Heavy and Speed touches and cardinally not Thrash vocals. |
| Renacer | Senderos del Alma | 2004 | Centrale Records ID: CD 51802 | | Melodic Power Heavy Metal | I'm sure there are many good unknown bands with very interesting music in the world, but usually these unknown bands are mediocre and non-original enough, I mean this band also. It's something common from Melodic Power with good but out of tune vocalist and non-memorable music. |
| Renegade (Italy) | Straight to the Top | 2008 | My Graveyard Productions ID: MGP-031 | | Heavy Metal | I consider it's not bad Heavy but not very memorable and
unexciting. I have no additional words even after listening to this
album twice. |
| Renegade (Italy) | W:A:R | 2010 | My Graveyard Productions ID: MGP-052 | | Heavy Metal | In my opinion it's better than their previous work. It's more
or less ordinary Heavy with some not bad songs together with the
typical and forgettable songs. |
| Renstrom, Rick | Until the Bitter End | 2003 | Mascot Records ID: irond cd 04-dd201 | | Melodic Hard Heavy Metal | I didn't want to compare him with anyone, but I had to do it: it's Malmsteen exactly. This music is less speedy than Malmsteen's music, some musical themes aren't completed, everything else is in style of other musicians released by Mascot. |
| Reptilian | Castle of Yesterday | 2001 | Regain Records ID: cdm 0903-1495 | | Metal | |
