Heavy Metal

What the strong band it is! Even so there isn't very memorable music like Judas Priest catching tunes in Saxon, though this album sometimes is similar to Judas Priest. But every time I listen to this band I like it. This album is powerful enough in the best traditions of Saxon and Judas Priest.

SaxonDogs of War

1995

SPV
ID: SPV 74112 CD

Hard Heavy Metal

I would decrease my estimation for another band why does another band sound as good as Saxon? But Saxon itself is worthy to have a true price for band's excellent work, very good songs and memorable tunes.

SaxonThe Inner Sanctum

2007

SPV
ID: SPV 95922 CD

Heavy Metal

The age increments, Saxon music becomes more abundant and deeper. Who thinks they are old bones? They outgame almost all young bands without problem!

SaxonSaxon

1979

EMI Records
ID: 50999 6 94443 2 6

Hard Rock

I've never heard the very first Saxon albums. Did you know it's AC/DC of Bon Scott's times? That's the last thing I would have expected. But nevertheless it's very close to AC/DC of 70s.

SaxonWheels of Steel

1980

EMI Records
ID: 50999 6 94445 2 4

Hard Heavy Metal

The music still lives in bluesy 70s with enough portion of Hard&Heavy of early 80s. Rock'n'Roll rules this album so many songs are inclined to such music, not to Hard&Heavy or Heavy.

SaxonStrong Arm of the Law

1980

EMI Records
ID: 50999 6 94444 2 5

Hard Heavy Metal

This next early Saxon album has some songs with real, well-known Saxon sound, though the bigger part is the same early AC/DC. Nevertheless, I already recognize Byford's vocals there.

SaxonDenim And Leather

1981

Carrere
ID: 50999 6 99333 2 5

NWoBHM Hard Heavy Metal

It seems to me it's the first album of actually well-known Saxon, in their own style you've already known. Of course it's not a recommendation not to listen to earlier than this one albums!

SaxonInnocence Is No Excuse

1985

EMI Records
ID: 50999 684333 2 1

Hard Heavy Metal

It's not bad but trendy album in wide-scale US Hard Rock of 80s. Because band's music of that period of time didn't change dramatically the future of the band, it's just an album from Saxon history.

SaxonRock the Nations

1986

EMI Records
ID: 50999 684344 2 7

Pop Hard Heavy Metal

It's a continuation of the unsuccessful for me band's albums. The music isn't original and belongs to US Hard Rock trend, not NWoBHM or Saxon exactly.

SaxonDestiny

1988

EMI Records
ID: 50999 684337 2 7

Melodic Hard Heavy Metal

Though this album again is a continuation of the last albums' pop direction, this work is higher than the previous ones. The music is melodious guitar- and vocals-oriented (as usual for true Saxon) but with some trendy keys.

SaxonInto the Labyrinth

2009

SPV
ID: SPV 91710 CD

Heavy Metal

Ever-young Saxon gave us another new album boggling the imagination by the vivacity of the music. It's very nice work in the traditions of late Saxon.

SaxonCall to Arms

2011

UDR Music
ID: UDR 0025 CD

Heavy Metal

It's heavy enough for Hard&Heavy but the music is closer to early band's traditions. It's Rock'n'Rollish, Bluesy album with Heavy sound but even so with some real Heavy songs. This album differs from other band's works by the new advanced sound and arrangements.

Thrash Metal

It's always nice to hear Thrash in 80s style like early Kreator. The songs have the same sounding, even the same Kreator's vocals and guitars.

Scarlet WizardPay for Your Sins

1998

Megahard Records
ID: P&D 002

Heavy Metal

It's raw Heavy, but it's not in traditions of 80s, it's the sound of 90s, with slightly weak vocals and unexpressive sound. I listened to all the album, but I don't know if I'm able to keep anything definite about this band?

ScarsThe Nether Hell

2005

selfproduction
ID: SCAR0605

Thrash Metal

It's a mixture of Sepultura, Slayer, Kreator and other famous Thrash bands of the times of their classic albums. There is nothing new in this music, Thrash is Thrash.

Scary HairyIntent to Deliver

1992

Retrospect Records
ID: RR-304

Hard Heavy Metal

Something Funk-like came with this music. It's commercial US Hard&Heavy with Blues and Funk elements. They have some nice fast parts but in other respects it's a mid-tempo music.

ScavengerDevils' Dinner

1998

selfproduction

Melodic Heavy Metal

Who are these guys?! There is no information about them in internet at all though it's excellent Heavy/Hard&Heavy, maybe with some Alternative touches. I like the original bands which strike out a line of own so it's very interesting and surprising album for me.

ScelerataDarkness And Light

2006

Voice Music Records
ID: SBCD-1044

Speed Power Metal

Everything that can understand under the words Speed&Power is released on this band's album. This is really fast and powerful music in spirit of the traditions of Brazilian Melodic Power.
