Artist: MetalianAlbum: Rock SolidReleased: 2011A mixture of styles and genres: Heavy Metal Review:If the band is called Metalian, and has been existing not since the beginning of the 80s, but since 2004, it will immediately seem that the music has to be generic as well. I will not say that it has to be generally ordinary, just without any novelties, and excesses even more so.
The music of the band is really traditional Heavy Metal a-la US bands of the 80s-90s like Metal Church. There is no need to invent something special here, because everything has been invented long ago, all you need is to competently rearrange it for your own music.
As the music in the US Heavy style and the USA have definite vocal traditions different form Europe, there is a typically good singer here, in the style of the already mentioned Metal Church and the like, there are many vocal parts, which bare the leading bases of the melodies. The instrumental and rhythm element of the music is quite traditional as well, with some interesting guitar solos, which help to support the variety of sound together with the singer. The album is short, and I guess it is one of the reasons why you have no time to notice and to feel, why Metalian is Metalian, and not something else.
The music traditions are good only if the band plays music in the style of something, making new music constructions from the Heavy-Metal-kit; but if we hear something, which is not only traditional, but also similar to the analogous young bands, we cannot but hope that the music of this band will acquire a sort of specific feature, which will bring in its own view to the traditions.
