Nevereven - The Progress of Disaster Review

back to reviews

Artist: Nevereven

Album: The Progress of Disaster

Released: 2011

A mixture of styles and genres: Melodic Heavy Metal

Review:

Not every young band is able to impress a listener with originality and unpredictability at the very first time, with the first album or demo. Let's take a band Nevereven with the next mini album - is it ready to hit the target with the first musical shot?
Nevereven is a Melodic Heavy, the core of it is vocal part, back-vocal and choirs make up the main musical hit, that makes you love the music of the band. All melodies are also based on vocal parties. For the reason a band has a very good singer, that resembles me of Manilla Road's Mark Shelton (by intonation similar sound to other epic Metal bands), the music enables listeners to get positive mood and encourages to listen in interesting and even extraordinary sound combinations.
Speaking of instruments, unfortunately, they sound in the background, although certain guitar solos come to the front sometimes, however, the music could have been better if other members participated in the musical picture more, but we will avoid wishful thinking and accept the mini album as it is.
So, each band has to make a serious and thoughtful step - release a first full-length album. Is Nevereven ready? To make the sound full, the band should work on instrumental part, otherwise the album will look like a vocalist's monolog with a nice background sound. In this case already good music will shine from various sides, and would anybody be against it?

Summary:
Vocals:10.00 of 10
Instruments:5.00 of 10
Skill:6.00 of 10
Originality:7.00 of 10
TOTAL:7 of 10
