Heaven's Guardian - Strava Review

back to reviews

Artist: Heaven's Guardian

Album: Strava

Released: 2001

A mixture of styles and genres: Melodic Speed Power Metal

Review:

Its another Brazilian Power Metal band.

Ill try to describe all songs one after another.

So lets start our musical journey.

  1. Last Breath
This is the very and rather standard beginning of the album. In other words these are various musical effects with singers speaking of something upsetting.
  2. Castle of war
Its not very melodic and not very fast song. Everything bears a distant resemblance to the most standard Helloween tracks. There are fast and not very fast guitar solos here.
  3. Raising
This song begins with guitar solos, then music becomes faster and similarity to Helloween/Gamma Ray appears again. There is similarity to Kai Hansen in vocals, There are a lot of guitar solos, some rhythm changes and shrill backing vocals.
  4. Fighters
Here standard rhythm appears again. This time we can hear not screech but muttering as background vocals. This song is worse than previous ones. There are monotonous rhythm and inexpressive vocals.
  5. Death Behind Smiles
This song is slower than previous ones. There is something from early Iron Maiden here. Vocals are similar to young Geoff Tate. There are rhythm changes, guitar solos and muttering.
  6. Strava
There are fast standard rhythm, inexpressive vocals again. There is also something from Stratovarius in their guitar riffs. Words about fire are also standard you all remember Stratovarius and King Diamond with this "unusual" topic.
  7. Freedom
This song starts with a mixture of acoustic guitars and heavy guitar riffs, then song turns into mid tempo one, good guitar solos appear, tempo changes suddenly, multi-voiced singing emerges, music is getting similar to Rhapsody and Stratovarius, then tempo becomes faster and music is growing close to Gamma Ray.
  8. Peace Keeper
Good standard Judas Priestish guitar riffs and warlike howls come first, then everything turns into bad Gamma Ray, then good guitar solo appears and rhythm changes.
  9. Hope
Melodic song is here at last. Acoustic guitars are good, tune is beautiful, guitar solos are also good. You can hear something from the best Iced Earth songs here.
  10. Enough
Multi-voiced singing, acoustic guitars and good tune begin this track, then tempo becomes faster, everything else is based on good though pretty standard guitar riff.

Summary:
Vocals:7.00 of 10
Instruments:8.00 of 10
Skill:8.00 of 10
Originality:5.00 of 10
TOTAL:7 of 10
