Battle Bratt - Battle Bratt Review

back to reviews

Artist: Battle Bratt

Album: Battle Bratt

Released: 1988

A mixture of styles and genres: Hard Heavy Metal

Review:

You can't imagine yourself how it's amazingly to return to 80s, where the music wasn't more frightening than Heavy and there were so many Hard&Heavy/Glam bands on Metal scene that worked for it and so many resources were involved for it, so I think it was the most beneficial time for Metal music. For example, look at Battle Bratt. Now it's hard to judge for me about their originality after the lapse of many, many years, I just have nothing to compare. Where do you find well-known but not over-heard Hard&Heavy of 80s in 21st century?!

So what does represent itself this selftitled album? This is mid-tempo, melodic, guitar-oriented and vocals-oriented Hard&Heavy (sometimes it's even just real Heavy Metal) with the rich high-pitched vocals like young Tate, with the big number of the guitar solos, sometimes in bluesy Glam/Hard&Heavy traditions, with the memorable refrains, which are easy to sing on memory without the music, and with much harmony in music itself. What do I hear in the songs of the band? I hear solo Dio, Saxon, Queensryche, Pretty Maids, Crimson Glory - no, I don't compare, there is just something similar in the sound. That is surprising for me there aren't any real ballads on this release, this is already not typical for the traditions of such music, though as I said all album was composed in mid-tempo style, so it's hard to separate just slow song and lachrymatory ballad.

I'm sure (it's bad or good, I can't say...) you haven't got any Battle Bratt albums in your collection, this band shined in the fullness of time, they went into hiding for years from us, and at last reissue of their album was released (this reissue is with high quality of the recording, even the bonus demo versions). Do you still hunger to plunge in irrevocable world of 80's music, and besides in the world of music, that wasn't duplicated for hundred years forward, wasn't sold for the souvenirs and didn't have time to bother? Do you understand that I recommend you to listen to Battle Bratt?
