Rude Awakening - A Tribute to Thin Lizzy Review

back to reviews

Artist: Rude Awakening

Album: A Tribute to Thin Lizzy

Released: 2007

A mixture of styles and genres: Heavy Metal

Review:

It has been almost 10 years since the release of the previous album by Rude Awakening. I have that album by a lucky accident, but there is no need to compare them, as the band has released an album titled A Tribute to Thin Lizzy.
What does it mean? It means that we will hear Thin Lizzy performed by Rude Awakening. It is better not to make any comparisons, because the sound very much reminds of the Irish, who are not essential for their music (at least, for their previous album), although they have inspired the musicians.
So, there is a question: is there anything to evaluate? It is stupid to evaluate Thin Lizzy's music somehow or, to be more exact, it is shameful to pretend to be smart and to evaluate music of the band of the worldwide recognition, which ceased to exist decades ago, and which does not need to be evaluated by anybody.
So, there are only the musicians' skills left. There is something to say about it: if Rude Awakening had formed back then, could it happen that some Thin Lizzy would make A Tribute to Rude Awakening in the 21st century? It is difficult to imagine, but the guys managed to reborn the spirit of the Irish stars. It does not matter that the sound is a bit heavier, but the rest is reproduced with the maximum exactness including specifics of the guitar sound.
If you want to get to know Rude Awakening's music, it is not that album to start with. But it is a very useful collection record for all lovers of Thin Lizzy and good music in general.
